I've been watching Kinison clips for the past ten minutes. I have not laughed once. Something isn't clicking. I love Carlin and Hicks, can't stand Dane Cook - logically, I should love this guy, right? Well he seems to be a witless and mediocre performer who has no actual jokes, and relies on loud screaming to mask the weakness of his material. Take away the screaming and every single punchline is crushingly obvious.

Just finished reading the book by his brother, Bill Kinison, called Brother Sam. Unbelievable book. Bill was there for the whole ride - and documented what an out of control druggie and alcoholic Sam was for years. The irony is that he died after getting clean and sober - and hit by a drunk driver in Needles, CA. What a loss. I sometimes wonder what Artie Lange and Sam would've done together, if Artie had been around then, in terms of partying. Too scary to think about. RIP Sammy.
