  • If it's a small consolation, Roger Williamson died of asphyxiation instead of the burns.

But this footage really hurts. I can't even begin to fathom the helplessness David Purley felt.

  • The callousness of the other drivers is what gets me. They can see there's been a serious accident, and they're being flagged down, but they just drive on by regardless.

  • @textthing It has been said that according to their vantage point Purley appeared to be the driver of the burning car, and had safely exited it. So they didn't know the urgency. Perhaps they thought they were being flagged to slow down. Further, the officials couldn't help because the heat of the car overwhelmed them. They didn't have firesuits on like Purley.

  • @aesutton

You're probably right. It's too easy to start blaming people when something like this happens. A pitiful scene to witness.

  • Amazing effort and emotion but after the car started burning even before purleys efforts I think death was inevitable anyway.

  • I want to kill the two guys beside of david purley

  • @litoben1

Have you any idea how hot that thing must have been? They couldn't do a thing.

  • @litoben1 your a fucking moron, hes in a fire resistance suit and their not.. use your head moron, you cant just touch fire you know that right kid ?

  • Oh. They really made it sound horrific I guess now looking at the year it makes sense. Thanks for the reply bud :)
