In 1833 the United States abolished Federal imprisonment for unpaid debts,Six states (Arkansas, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Washington) allow debt collectors to seek arrest warrants for debtors in default if all other collection methods have failed. Whether a debtor will actually be prosecuted or not varies from state to state, county to county, and town to town...
Just another example of bringing back antiquated laws and practices that so many have fought to abolish and reform through blood sweat and tears. How can this be happening? In a few short years all the civil rights that were gained over the hard work of generations are being systematically crushed. Welcome to George Orwell's Big Brother society. This is being implemented globally with such swiftness everyone is reeling from the impacts of one shock after another and nobody knows how to stop it.
Banks charge enormous amounts of money on fees and interest and credit card companies are charging up to 29%, and many people are simply paying just interest, criminal!
I elect to raise each individuals debt ceilings to an exaggerated high for the year and when they see they cant pay it back then have the ability to raise it again the following year.
Google; ' spiritual white boy accounts ', IF, you think this is all "by accident". And YES, there should be consequences for those responsible. WHY NOT?!! The GLOBAL Economic Meltdown, IS A HOAX!!!
Wow. THE DAM COUNTRY IS IN DEBT, SO shouldn't we arrest these dumb leaders who put us in debt too? If you arrest ANYONE for owing money, start with the Pentagon and BANKS who owes the tax-payers first.
The MOST DIGUSTING thing about this whole monetary system is that there is much more debt than there is actual money and this is causing it to FAIL, period. I wonder why these people can't pay their debts when they're worried about how they will feed their children or provide a roof over even their own head. It is NOT the justice system's job to do the dirty work of banks and corporations. What the fuck is this world coming to...
Thank goodness for bankruptcy. I'll pay back my debts to the credit cards when $20.00 an hour factory jobs come back to America. Until then, the big banks and the US government can go suck it. Big time.

Debtor prisons were worked out a century ago as being an abomination that simply does not work. Men missing child/spousal payments is horrific, their debt builds up as they are in prison.
No one wants to go into debt. All it takes is losing a job, getting in an accident, having an illness or a death of a loved one. Putting people in jail for debt is not the answer. Some creditors are citing contempt to get debtors arrested. in order to get out of jail you now have to pay the debt out of money you don't have. There by causing them to stay in jail, which can cause them to loose the little job they may have. Does that make sense to anyone?
You think more people would pay back the money but it will only make more crime lol People don't pay because they have drug habits or ARE BROKE! prisons filled with homeless people... you do know in jails you get free medical and some dental how much will that coasts?drugs for prisoners is allot of money and creates more addicts do to the fact plent of drugs in prison. what about mothers, fathers will the kids go to cps? ITS GOING TO ALL COME DOWN SO GET READY FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE!
Rich people never have to pay a overdraft fee so you can honestly THEY DO ONLY TARGET THE POOR! To the elite most of us are worthless eaters and they are insecure about they greed! WHAT YOU DONT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THEM IS THEY HAVE D.U.M.B's! The way things are going I can honesty say in my belief, they want to kill us slow and when the time comes they can drive off in the pussy mobil and hide in the D.U.M.B!and get away. GOT DOOMS DAY SEEDS?
Don't worry about real criminals on our streets, they have no money, today the police spend their times pulling people over for not wearing a seat belt, or talking on their phone. Now they are going to arrest decient people for running up their credit card because they need to eat and pay rent. Okay people, we are now down the rabbit hole and up is down, hot is cold, left is right, EVERYTHING IS BACKWARDS. America Baby, Freedom - NOT!
Wells Fargo and Wachovia can launder $386 billion dollars, supply the planes for the cocaine and get caught, no one goes to jail.Corzine steals $1.2 billion, maybe more,no one goes to jail.Holder has lied to to congress about many things and caught doing it, especially with "fast and furious" , no one goes to jail. You owe a couple thousand on a credit card or a repo, and its off to jail for you.Funny how they call it a "justice system".For who? Not the real thieves.Peace.
This is disgraceful... anybody that uses our criminal justice system to go after people for private debt, should be prosecuted themselves. They have lost their membership card to the human race.
@PowerForGood this has been going on since the end of the civil war. Read up on the sharecropping system in the south after the civil war and you'll get a better understanding of what is coming next
and if I go ahead and ship the items that my card's been charged for back then I have no guarantee that I will receive a refund and just be out the money with no merchandise. I returned a budget rental truck before the deadline, but the office was closed and they charged my card over by $200, but I didn't find it in time to dispute it with the company.
I have more useless junk that's sitting around my house UNUSED because I fell for some stupid informercial in attempting to make life easier...and all it's done is make life a whole lot more challenging by not being able to use it like it was presented (false advertising) and not being able to return it if I'm a few days over THEIR limit. How can I have a bill dated BEFORE my deadline and yet not be able to return the items and cancel future shipments?
Nor is it fair to have to abide by THEIR specific days for a return. I haven't USED the product that many days so if I find that after 2 attempts at what they claim their product will do for me, I should be able to return such product if the item has no wear and receive a full refund whether it's 30 or 45 days. If I didn't even OPEN a package to subscribe to something in the first place, why should I be responsible for paying & why should I foot the return shipping?
I believe in managing our financial house, however, when a credit card company charges a fee claiming that it's because you're payment is late and your payment that you programmed to be paid automatically via internet is set at $50 and your payment was supposed to be $51, so you have a late payment fee which then may take you up OVER your limit as well as bumping you up to the maximum interest rate, then an impossible situation is created and it's simply not ok.
well banks cant give loans that is fraud as they dont have money to loan its actually part of the federal reserve policy, also HJR 192 1935 states that you cannot pay a debt with a didnt you all need to read the uniform commercial code. the banks should be jailed for frauding us and there is a reason for the bad economy thank you federal reserve... ITS NOT A CREDIT CARD ITS A "DEBT" CARD , and the people in the jails and prisons they d make money there is a bond in the stock market FEMA CAMPS
blaming the victim ...I believe in accountability in a free market...but the international banksters have corrupted the system again and control it to their tyranny and it is apparent....Why do you think the founders eliminated debtors prisons and bills of attainder....The war has always been against the money changers.
now at the same time can't you argue that my tits look absolutely stunning in this orange dress and i look like the peurto rican version of courtney cox and oh god i just want your dick in my mouth
there is no money. see HJR 192. since there is no money there is no debt. the banks can not show evidence of a loan. We owe them nothing because they loaned us nothing. Ask the banks for proof of loss. For evidence of a loan. they can not provide it.
"...Dodd Frank Act went a long way towards (that) reform..." Seriously- I mean how so? That was a spoon fed statement meant directly for public regurgitation (or citizen education as I term it).
Remember everyone - you hear it here first -
"Critical Thinking is YOUR obligation, and not your right."
RT America, previously known as Russia Today, is a global multilingual television news network based in the Russian Federation run by the state-owned state-run RIA Novosti.
THE 535 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS HAS A NET WORTH OF 2.4 BILLION DOLLARS BETWEEN THEM, THEY WANT TO THANK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THE CORPORATE CEO,s FOR THEIR CORPORATE ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS AND DONATIONS - HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM CONGRESS!
So does this mean we can throw folks like Ben Bernanke, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney in prison for life, on account of the massive debt in money and legitimacy they accrued at our expense, right? If so, I'm all for this. If not...well, we've been long overdue for a general tarring and feathering of reprobates anyways...
So the U.S. Government can rack up a 26 Trilllion Dollar debt and not a single one of the bastards in the phony, criminal Federal Reserve goes to jail, but if Bob down the street owes a few thousand dollars on a bill he can't pay anymore because he lost his job due to it being sent overseas, Bob goes to jail? FUCK YOU U.S. GOVERNMENT! FUCK YOU BANKSTERS! FUCK YOU ROTHSCHILD FAMILY! FUCK YOU ROCKEFELLER FAMILY! FUCK YOU BUSH FAMILY! AND FUCK YOU WHITE HOUSE!
how can you allow people to be coerced by the advertisers and told they need to feed the mythical beast which is "the economy" and then throw them in jail when they've fed it too much. when will the day come when people realise that this is all just a big game, they have the money, they make the rules...were all fucked until we refuse to play.
The RT reporter is posing a stupid question, actually reprehensible. Look at all the BANK BAILOUTS gimme a break are you serious as a journalist? These women are misguided fools who need reality checks.
@richmanpoman1 I don't find that to be a bad thing. I consistently find RT reporters trying to question from an opposing viewpoint... a technique which has historically produced great interviews. The problem is that the opposing viewpoint is sometimes absurd.
@ParrhesiaJoe Well, I agree if you are referring to Platonic/Socratic rhetoric, however, these reporters have shown their allegiance to ideas that appeal or repel them in many reports, in this case they seem to be "advocating" an absurd notion. That to me shows them condoning rather than condemning the illegal actions of these criminal bankers and creditors. Why aren't their Banker/Lender/Creditor prisions?
@richmanpoman1 I would prefer to seperate Plato and Socrates in this light. Socrates had a method of dialogue that relied heavily on parrhesia. Plato was the a master Rhetoritician.
Plato mostly told people what he thought. Socrates made people hang themselves verbally.
I LOVE Socrates, I like Aristotle, and I wish Plato would be forgotten.
That said, the interviewer OPENED with a scathing critique of debtor prison. When the guest appeared, she took an adversarial position.
Ive been told that the Federal Reserve Bank is our Government. They are the ones who actually run the country. Not the Present or anyone else. Not sure if its true but it makes sense I guess,
show me a case where someone has gone to prison for only debt. i'm calling b.s. until I see proof...not that i wouldn't believe it, but this story has no foundation. none the less, a violation of a "contract" doesn't present jail time. if this were true, i have at least 10 people i could throw the book at who owe me money...the i.r.s. is one thing, private debt is another.
Kind of odd that Bryce couldn't give real examples of people being thrown in jail (eg. give actual court casess or people's names, etc.) . If you notice it was very vague statements.
that is because the banks own the money and the government. people need to understand that government is corporate per the "CLEARFIELD DOCTRINE"! Read it and sue them
are you people nuts. if you cant pay back credit, the punishment is u cant get anymore credit. jesus what dumasses. not to mention how much money if being lost through inflation. if u default on your credit, its probsbly best thing to get back your money lost,, though inflation, set by the very same bank your making payments too.
This is what happens when people who don't care about their credit score and think they have nothing to lose when they are spending money they don't have via credit cards. There should be accountability for those who abuse the credit system. Jail time in my opinion is a waste of time and tax payer money. The state government, not the federal government; should implement community service sentences to people who cannot pay their debt. That seems fair to have them work it off.
We're all to blame! but if the indebted go to jail while the debtors get filthy rich wheres the justice?now you want to prosecute the consumer in a rotted consumer economy? TREACHERY! it always takes two to tango. FORGIVENESS is the key. all around. international FORGIVENESS.
why do these two people look like little girls to me? neither look like they should be on tv talking about anything of importance..they need to be out clubbing or something..
If prison is the answer to those who did not live within their means. What of those who made it possible? How can you justify punishing only half of those to blame?
So how much does throwing the person in jail costing the taxpayers? The real thieves are credit card companies that can change the intrest rate anytime they like.
So someone borrows money at a 5% rate and all of a sudden is faced with 25% rates. Who is the real criminal?
So you throw them in jail, how does that get your money? They loose their jobs and have a criminal record. Good thinking idiots!
@SuperHappyCow True. You also need enough tax money to perpetuate the system. Cost are around $50 billion a year and the balance beam can only go so far;)...
@rickytan6969 the only problem with this is that the biggest debtors are our banks and NONE NOT ONE - has gone to jail or even been charged with anything - it's awful hard to be responsible when all your money has been stolen - and they are stealing it from us every minute....
RT is no different than any other MSM. They work for the elites. Propaganda and dogma without ever discussing what the root of the problem is. Makes me sick to my stomach.
The growing number of private prisons who's bottom line is full occupancy will lobby for tougher laws and longer prison time for trivial offenses. We have Wall street to thank for this as well..
Whoever the uber-intelligent one was that pooh-pooh'ed the Mason rip -Hey, pal.....What do you think the ground-level to the Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Com., CFR, etc., is? It's not about casting stones at one another. Because I guarantee that you are NOT one of them, and that you are just as expendable as any of the rest of us. Keeping division among us IS THEIR GOAL! Wake UP!
@JanRichardus Believe it or not Wall Street would love to see the small guy get thrown in jail for the debt, its a way to earn money at the tax payers expense! Credit doesn't mean shit, I was told by a wal-mart employee that if I didn't have a credit card and didn't sign up for one that I could no longer shop at Wal-mart. Yes that is what I was told, I told them to go back to their job and fuck off, their just jealous because I pay for my stuff with cash!
@JanRichardus and? its true! Like college; before it was all about the Universities, and colleges teaching. Now these Universities, and colleges like to earn that profit. The just keep raising tuition, up and up and up and up! I say screw sallie Mae in the ass, and don't pay!
Throwing us in jail was never supposed to be to make us be able to pay! It is so they create jobs for "their kind," meaning the Police Class all the way up to the private prison owners who get MONEY (NOT SUBSIDIES) from the feds for each inmate in a bed. FUCK AMERICA! THIS is NOT the Country I pledged allegiance to.

Not the real thieves.Peace.

and if I go ahead and ship the items that my card's been charged for back then I have no guarantee that I will receive a refund and just be out the money with no merchandise.

How can I have a bill dated BEFORE my deadline and yet not be able to return the items and cancel future shipments?
anjylkat 2 months ago
Nor is it fair to have to abide by THEIR specific days for a return. I haven't USED the product that many days so if I find that after 2 attempts at what they claim their product will do for me, I should be able to return such product if the item has no wear and receive a full refund whether it's 30 or 45 days. If I didn't even OPEN a package to subscribe to something in the first place, why should I be responsible for paying & why should I foot the return shipping?
anjylkat 2 months ago

ITS NOT A CREDIT CARD ITS A "DEBT" CARD , and the people in the jails and prisons they d make money there is a bond in the stock market FEMA CAMPS

there is no money. see HJR 192. since there is no money there is no debt. the banks can not show evidence of a loan. We owe them nothing because they loaned us nothing. Ask the banks for proof of loss. For evidence of a loan. they can not provide it.

The RT reporter is posing a stupid question, actually reprehensible. Look at all the BANK BAILOUTS gimme a break are you serious as a journalist? These women are misguided fools who need reality checks.
richmanpoman1 2 months ago
@richmanpoman1 I don't find that to be a bad thing. I consistently find RT reporters trying to question from an opposing viewpoint... a technique which has historically produced great interviews. The problem is that the opposing viewpoint is sometimes absurd.
ParrhesiaJoe 2 months ago
@ParrhesiaJoe Well, I agree if you are referring to Platonic/Socratic rhetoric, however, these reporters have shown their allegiance to ideas that appeal or repel them in many reports, in this case they seem to be "advocating" an absurd notion. That to me shows them condoning rather than condemning the illegal actions of these criminal bankers and creditors. Why aren't their Banker/Lender/Creditor prisions?
richmanpoman1 2 months ago
@richmanpoman1 I would prefer to seperate Plato and Socrates in this light. Socrates had a method of dialogue that relied heavily on parrhesia. Plato was the a master Rhetoritician.
Plato mostly told people what he thought. Socrates made people hang themselves verbally.
I LOVE Socrates, I like Aristotle, and I wish Plato would be forgotten.
That said, the interviewer OPENED with a scathing critique of debtor prison. When the guest appeared, she took an adversarial position.

show me a case where someone has gone to prison for only debt. i'm calling b.s. until I see proof...not that i wouldn't believe it, but this story has no foundation. none the less, a violation of a "contract" doesn't present jail time. if this were true, i have at least 10 people i could throw the book at who owe me money...the i.r.s. is one thing, private debt is another.
