Totally biased and lies. Slavery was supported by CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS who used the Bible (the world's finest slave-owner's manual) to back up their beliefs. LIBERALS have always been the ones fighting for freedom in justice in this country. All our rights and freedoms we enjoy today were won FROM THE GRIPS of Judeo-Christian principles by liberal patriots.
@scatcoitus ... REALLY? The Confederates WERE Democrats. The entire CSA was run by Democrats. Every member of the legislatures during secession, Houses and Senates, were Democrats. Their President Jefferson Davis and even vice president were all Democrats. Instead of relying on this chopped up edited vid, watch the documentary by Burton on here titled "Setting The Record Straight: America's History in Black & White" it's twelve 9-10 minute long videos, and it'll knock you on your ass.
barton just can't seem to get the truth through those lips of his. Jefferson and his supporters called themselves "Democratic Republicans", emphasis on republican. they were also known as the Jeffersonian Republicans. very different from his twisted view. re-writing history is a bitch when you don't remember what lie you're on. then the republicans became the prejudiced, the bigoted, the proud when they took over in the south and supported slavery in all of it's oppressive forms. yayyy!!!!
Barton's failure to mention that the two parties have since adopted each others social attitudes, with the right-wing party then (the DNC) becoming the more left of the two now and vice-versa re: the RNC, is also the overarching method through which he distorts American history inn general. In short, he's a psychopath and a liar who has found a willing group of followers in American right-wing (authoritarian) Christians.
@Mycos1 That's a bold-faced lie. The idea that the GOP and DNC magically switched social attitudes just because their power bases *slowly* shifted in the north and south is completely idiotic. The original Republican platform from 1856 was as conservative as you could get. It supported gun rights, originalist judges in the courts, and firmly opposed slavery and POLYGAMY. Polygamy was then was homosexuality is today. So slavery and sexual immorality were "twin relics of barbarism." Seriously...
Republican Party : First opposition political party in the United States. "Organized in 1792 as the Republican Party, its members held power nationally between 1801 and 1825. It was the direct antecedent of the present Democratic Party."
@Mycos1 That's from Encyclopedia Britannica. Or do you think they too have been infiltrated by "commie libruls" who have nothing better to do with their time than make up lies to tell conservatives eg. universities and press?
@Mycos1 That was the Democratic-Republican Party of Jefferson, you dipshit. It was a completely different party and ceased to exist.
The Democratic Republicans broke up after the Era of Good Feelings produced infighting. Andrew Jackson created the Democratic Party from half of Jefferson's party, and the remainders of the party founded the National Republican Party. They were around only a few years, then merged with others into the Whig Party. The Whigs merged with others to become the GOP.
The truth is that both parties have their origin in Jefferson. Democratic-Republican Party wasn't either current party. The Democratic Party today wasn't founded by Jefferson, but by Jackson. And The Republican Party also has its roots in Jefferson, but its was Whigs, Democrats, Free Soilers and others that founded it in its current form.
Both parties can trace their roots to the Democratic-Republican Party though because after the collapse of the Federalist Party, Democratic-Republicans split.
So the Democrats were actually the party of Jackson, not Jefferson. This is reflected kind of silently. Jackson was a supporter of capitalism and a war hawk and a patriot and war hero. However, like other Democrats he railed against bankers, supported slavery, used populist rhetoric and celebrity status to ride into power, and opposed checks and balances in the Constitution like the Electoral College purely because it was inconvenient politically and cost him the presidency his first try.
What are Democrats doing today? Well they're complaining about banks and trying to take them over, they're enslaving us through collectivism and statism and openly supported race-based policies well into the end of the 20th century, they're using populist economic rhetoric and demonizing unpopular targets like Wall Street, corporations, et al and used celebrity power to win in '08, and they're still making a big stink about the Electoral College because their boy Gore lost to Bush.
The parties are still the same parties. Sure, there have been some realignments over a few centuries regarding economic policies, sure. When has anyone mentioned bimetallism, free silver, etc? But overall despite changes in the times, the parties are the same, and it's a desperate attempt by leftist malcontents to just rewrite history as nothing more than "the parties switched." No they didn't, Democrats have just gotten dirtier and sneakier. Just look at their employment of economic populism.
David Barton's work is awesome. He completely obliterates myths such as "the separation of church and state" People have heard these words so many times that they actually believe that there is a separation!
David Barton's documents have been examined by his strongest opponents and found to be authentic. He has been winning legal battles because he can prove what he says. How can you argue with books and documents that are in the founding father's own handwriting, and books that were published into multiple copies? The answer is that you can't argue against them. Well, you can argue, but you will lose.
I have no doubt the documents are authentic. But I sincerely doubt his ability to read and interpret them. Since you've already "decided" his position is true, there is no point in trying to argue otherwise with you. But the truth is the truth, and Barton's distortions cannot stand up to the scrutiny of factual evidence - in spite of your beliefs ad faith in him.
I have not "decided" his positon is true. As I stated, his strongest opponents have decided they are true. How do you explain his legal victories? (please answer)
You don't need to "interpret" the documeents, it's not freaking poetry.
By "interpret" you mean "make it mean what fits my revisionist secularist narrative". .
What i notice is you don't refer to particular quotes that were taken out of context, you refer to general ones so that your claim ofcourse becomes irrefutable. Share some with us and we will address them.
@Califacience "such a wall would protect the church from the government, that there would be open and free religious expression of all orthodox religious practices" Barton has added this falsehood to the Danbury letter. Address that.
No one is disputing that he has purchased authentic documents. Your assertion that they are is a straw-man argument. What they do dispute is his interpretation of what they say and why it was said. His unerring ability to lie about the circumstances behind the cherry-picked quotes he offers up is itself absolute proof that he cannot make his point based on the evidence alone and must therefore distort American history to say what he knows will get more followers to his perverted vision.
It is obvious that there are breaks in this video. The whole was not presented. There are no such breaks in the original video. I saw many of them. Try looking at some of the related videos. It will go past 1860. Try putting in America's Christian Heritage, wallbuilders or David Barton.
Are you illiterate? Read the video description to the right of the video. It clearly says NINEteen-sixties, not EIGHTeen sixties. Get your facts straight before you go mouthing off.
This was an excellent video! I don't see any bias, just historical facts. They can be problematic when they are out there for all to read for themselves. Thank God for men like David Barton who are standing up against the revisionists who want to erase real history and replace it with their own. BARTON IS RIGHT ON!
I agree most completely - Barton demonstrates a honed skill for making references out of context and then stretching them to achieve his ends. A supreme bearer of false witness.
he may have been exaggerating by accusing democrats of wanting to keep black children in failing schools, but what did he say that was factually incorrect?
Barton uses the same style of lying as Kent Hovind the creationist did. They do use authentic documents most of the time, but what they don't do is quote them properly and they often leave out words which would cause it to mean the opposite of what they want you to think it means. Barton has done this over and over. He is trying to buy up as many originals or only existing copies of works so nobody opposed to him can say he is lying. Very clever trickster.
It sounds to me like you don't want to be confused with the truth. Barton's facts are easily checked and he does own over 100,000 original documents written by the Founders. That is so he can backup his position, not so he can "revise" history. He is trying to educate us back to the reality of what really happened and what the original intent of the various founders really was. Do your homework. The US Government has put enough documents online to backup almost every claim he makes.
The intent of the founders is found in the Constitution where it never mentions Christianity being the foundation of the Constitution. Not only that, Christians want to live forever under the worst dictatorship imaginable and you actually think that mentality would lead people to want liberty? Chris Rodda completely pwned what Barton has said, because unlike his sheeple followers, she actually researched the documents he used and found exactly what we would expect. He changes what they mean.
The truth? LOL! If you believe Barton's rubbish you wouldn't know the truth if it bit you on the ass.He quotes out of context and has used quotes that were flat out wrong. He has no respect at all for the truth and is a threat to our liberty.
If I could post a link on here I'd give you a critique of Barton from a group of Baptists, pointing out that his claims are pretty much nonsense.Try critique of David Barton in search maybe you'll find it.
In this video alone, I discovered Barton lieing. Deadbeatdad, don't be hoodwinked by this fraud. If you go back and do some research yourself, you'll find that party loyalties REALIGNED durring the post great depression era. In other words, before the great depresion, Democrates were conservative and Republicans were liberal. Barton is a charlatan!
Deadbeatdad. He claims to have documents he quotes from, Documents he WILL NOT let other academics review. So how do you know his interpretation is accurate?
You actually believe that, don't you breligion? Incredible. Proof positive that if you close our eyes and repeat something over and over, regardless of the verity of it, it all of the sudden becomes true (at least in you own head).
Historical facts really have no bearing against irrational and intense opinion. Not in this day and age.
People, David Barton is NOT a historian. Look him up. Oh, and he's had to correct a number of his claims because, well, they were 100% wrong and fabricated.
I am a christian and a African-American 47 years of age. Everything this brother is sharing in this video I already known. Its too bad after 1930 our people left the party that we originally belong to. I wonder if Jessie Jackson and all of the paid puppets of the democrats ever share that truth ? I wonder why the facts od history are hidden and covered up by this graying and aging group and their hand picked hand fed successors ? The truth is something the democrats and liberal republicans want.
I think it's funny as hell how a lot of conservatives try to act as though the current platforms of the Republican and Democratic Parties are the same as they were in 1865! Someone would really have to be stupid to fall for this!
Wow, your opinion is so interesting. It wasn't until 1961 that the Democratic Platform began to even consider a well worded civil rights position and even then it wasn't supported by democratic by in large. The truth is that neither party was completely innocent of responsibility. So for you to represent it as a long ago event is inaccurate. Truth wether we agree or not needs to be known.
i find it funny that the majority of the"slave owning south god fearin republican states" today, are the same states that fought for the "confederates" during the cilvil war. so basically the majority of christians used to be democrats!!! LOL Jesus= slavery
You take a great video and cut and paste. He has clear historical documents of our founding history. It was the democrats that started Planned parenthood for the very purpose of killing black babies.
It's been the democrat agenda for a long time. It's the democrats that hold back the black population.
Martin Lutheran King was a Republican he knew the difference.
More democrat states have large poor populations. Look only to Chicago and Resko in which he stole in name of the poor.
As an black American I find this offensive! why are you trying to make it seem that Democrats didn't do this? They did want slavery, pass Jim crow laws, they did oppose civil rights for blacks, and abortion that was promoted to get rid of the weeds a.k.a. blacks and Jews, and not to mention that the KKK was a branch of the democratic party. Republicans fought very hard for my ancestors, by passing the civil right bill. Please stop lying.
I always laugh when I hear them claiming Abe Lincoln was a Republican. While he was a membe of a party intitled Republicans, there was a big platform switch in the early 1900s, meaning he would be a Democrat today.
Barton is only stating documented facts. If you can disprove any of it, go ahead. He is not "biased." The people who covered up all these things over the years are the biased ones.
I was a white pastor and saw first hand the bigotry and hatred against blacks by the Christian right. I lost two jobs, was insulted and hated by some who used the Bible to justify their bigotry. They tried to justify slavery, segregation. They said because blacks were cursed with the mark of Cain they were meant to serve the white race. I have fought against prejudice since my High School days (late 50s). All are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, gays included.
So basically what he's saying is that you can't think for yourself if your a Christian rightist. Funnily enough, I'm not sure any of them CANdo your research, the republican and democratic parties reversed in the mid 20th century. It's a shame that so many people will see this and take it at face value. Pity
80% of the nation supported an ammendment to allow voluntary spoken prayer in schools because that's the american christian population. The person is selfish and looks no further than their own desires. As a congressman, you are elected to protect the rights of ALL of your constituency, not just the 80% majority that happens to share your religious beliefs.
Well on the Abe Lincoln thing it's hillarious, because he's completely ignoring the platform swap that happened in the 1900's, meaning while he was a member of "The Republican Party," the princables of the swap would mean he would be concidered a Democrat by today's standards.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
An fucking asshole who can't even spell hilarious, considered or principles has somehow tapped into a dead mans mind...the same man who started the Republican party.
Well in all honesty I did type it once run it through Word and then copy paste, but I must have not ctrl C'ed when I corrected.
I realize hilarious, principles and considered were misspelled only after I hit post. It's not like they let you edit your posts or anything. So yeah. I posted a few misspellings, but I'm far from an asshole. At least I have a college degree, know American history and can filter bullshit from news. Enjoy your Glenn Beck, bucko.
Hi, chhipsshot. I like ur story of how you fucked with the waiter. I have so little effort to make to show how inconsiderate and immature the average republican is.
And who went along with ALL the Democratic atrocities back through history? The Christians right. Who then flipped over to the Republican side when Dems started moving FOR civil rights? The Christian right. So where as the Democrats learned the lesson of their ways and changed, the Christian right has stayed anti-black, anti-integration and anti-freedom.
The democratic party we know today was NOT the Dem party of yesteryear. In those days, it was filled with right-leaning southern conservatives who wanted to keep their racist slave mongering way of life alive. That's who started the KKK. The parties have evolved greatly.

Jefferson and his supporters called themselves "Democratic Republicans", emphasis on republican. they were also known as the Jeffersonian Republicans. very different from his twisted view. re-writing history is a bitch when you don't remember what lie you're on. then the republicans became the prejudiced, the bigoted, the proud when they took over in the south and supported slavery in all of it's oppressive forms. yayyy!!!!
Mutedvox 1 year ago
This isn't biased, it's fact. You might not personally agree with these things but it was the democrat party's agenda. It is history.
Vlaxitov 1 year ago 5
Barton's failure to mention that the two parties have since adopted each others social attitudes, with the right-wing party then (the DNC) becoming the more left of the two now and vice-versa re: the RNC, is also the overarching method through which he distorts American history inn general. In short, he's a psychopath and a liar who has found a willing group of followers in American right-wing (authoritarian) Christians.
Mycos1 1 year ago
@Mycos1 That's a bold-faced lie. The idea that the GOP and DNC magically switched social attitudes just because their power bases *slowly* shifted in the north and south is completely idiotic. The original Republican platform from 1856 was as conservative as you could get. It supported gun rights, originalist judges in the courts, and firmly opposed slavery and POLYGAMY. Polygamy was then was homosexuality is today. So slavery and sexual immorality were "twin relics of barbarism." Seriously...
TheCobaltAgent 1 year ago
@TheCobaltAgent Not the brightest bulb in the box are you?
Republican Party : First opposition political party in the United States. "Organized in 1792 as the Republican Party, its members held power nationally between 1801 and 1825. It was the direct antecedent of the present Democratic Party."
Mycos1 1 year ago
@Mycos1 That's from Encyclopedia Britannica. Or do you think they too have been infiltrated by "commie libruls" who have nothing better to do with their time than make up lies to tell conservatives eg. universities and press?
Mycos1 1 year ago
@Mycos1 That was the Democratic-Republican Party of Jefferson, you dipshit. It was a completely different party and ceased to exist.
The Democratic Republicans broke up after the Era of Good Feelings produced infighting. Andrew Jackson created the Democratic Party from half of Jefferson's party, and the remainders of the party founded the National Republican Party. They were around only a few years, then merged with others into the Whig Party. The Whigs merged with others to become the GOP.
TheCobaltAgent 1 year ago
Democratic-Republicans (Jefferson) and Federalists (Adams)
Federalists die off, Age of Good Feelings, infighting
Democratic (founded by Jackson), National Republican (anti-Jacksonian)
Democrats still strong, N. Republicans die off and replaced by Whigs
Democrats still around, Whigs divided on slavery and along with many third parties form the Republican Party we know today.
Democratic-Republican > Democratic
Democratic-Republican and Federalist > National Republicans > Whigs > Republicans
TheCobaltAgent 1 year ago
The truth is that both parties have their origin in Jefferson. Democratic-Republican Party wasn't either current party. The Democratic Party today wasn't founded by Jefferson, but by Jackson. And The Republican Party also has its roots in Jefferson, but its was Whigs, Democrats, Free Soilers and others that founded it in its current form.
Both parties can trace their roots to the Democratic-Republican Party though because after the collapse of the Federalist Party, Democratic-Republicans split.
TheCobaltAgent 1 year ago
So the Democrats were actually the party of Jackson, not Jefferson. This is reflected kind of silently. Jackson was a supporter of capitalism and a war hawk and a patriot and war hero. However, like other Democrats he railed against bankers, supported slavery, used populist rhetoric and celebrity status to ride into power, and opposed checks and balances in the Constitution like the Electoral College purely because it was inconvenient politically and cost him the presidency his first try.
TheCobaltAgent 1 year ago
What are Democrats doing today? Well they're complaining about banks and trying to take them over, they're enslaving us through collectivism and statism and openly supported race-based policies well into the end of the 20th century, they're using populist economic rhetoric and demonizing unpopular targets like Wall Street, corporations, et al and used celebrity power to win in '08, and they're still making a big stink about the Electoral College because their boy Gore lost to Bush.
TheCobaltAgent 1 year ago 3
The parties are still the same parties. Sure, there have been some realignments over a few centuries regarding economic policies, sure. When has anyone mentioned bimetallism, free silver, etc? But overall despite changes in the times, the parties are the same, and it's a desperate attempt by leftist malcontents to just rewrite history as nothing more than "the parties switched." No they didn't, Democrats have just gotten dirtier and sneakier. Just look at their employment of economic populism.

David Barton's work is awesome. He completely obliterates myths such as "the separation of church and state" People have heard these words so many times that they actually believe that there is a separation!
romansten9 2 years ago
David Barton's documents have been examined by his strongest opponents and found to be authentic. He has been winning legal battles because he can prove what he says. How can you argue with books and documents that are in the founding father's own handwriting, and books that were published into multiple copies? The answer is that you can't argue against them. Well, you can argue, but you will lose.
romansten9 2 years ago
I have no doubt the documents are authentic. But I sincerely doubt his ability to read and interpret them. Since you've already "decided" his position is true, there is no point in trying to argue otherwise with you. But the truth is the truth, and Barton's distortions cannot stand up to the scrutiny of factual evidence - in spite of your beliefs ad faith in him.
mccabe1958 2 years ago
I have not "decided" his positon is true. As I stated, his strongest opponents have decided they are true. How do you explain his legal victories? (please answer)
romansten9 2 years ago
@romansten9 What legal victories?
MrMZaccone 1 year ago
@mccabe1958
Califacience 1 year ago
@Califacience "such a wall would protect the church from the government, that there would be open and free religious expression of all orthodox religious practices" Barton has added this falsehood to the Danbury letter. Address that.

Califacience 1 year ago
@Califacience It's in Barton's book.
MrMZaccone 1 year ago
No one is disputing that he has purchased authentic documents. Your assertion that they are is a straw-man argument. What they do dispute is his interpretation of what they say and why it was said. His unerring ability to lie about the circumstances behind the cherry-picked quotes he offers up is itself absolute proof that he cannot make his point based on the evidence alone and must therefore distort American history to say what he knows will get more followers to his perverted vision.
Mycos1 1 year ago
It is obvious that there are breaks in this video. The whole was not presented. There are no such breaks in the original video. I saw many of them. Try looking at some of the related videos. It will go past 1860. Try putting in America's Christian Heritage, wallbuilders or David Barton.

Very clever trickster.
breligion 2 years ago 2
It sounds to me like you don't want to be confused with the truth. Barton's facts are easily checked and he does own over 100,000 original documents written by the Founders. That is so he can backup his position, not so he can "revise" history. He is trying to educate us back to the reality of what really happened and what the original intent of the various founders really was. Do your homework. The US Government has put enough documents online to backup almost every claim he makes.
deadbeatdad 2 years ago
The intent of the founders is found in the Constitution where it never mentions Christianity being the foundation of the Constitution. Not only that, Christians want to live forever under the worst dictatorship imaginable and you actually think that mentality would lead people to want liberty? Chris Rodda completely pwned what Barton has said, because unlike his sheeple followers, she actually researched the documents he used and found exactly what we would expect. He changes what they mean.
breligion 2 years ago
The truth? LOL! If you believe Barton's rubbish you wouldn't know the truth if it bit you on the ass.He quotes out of context and has used quotes that were flat out wrong. He has no respect at all for the truth and is a threat to our liberty.

Wow, your opinion is so interesting.
