greets from austria! u are one of my favourite musicians- like u because of the nature u bring back to music, and like u because ur music kicks asses too. Ur voice fills our hearts with something we havent felt since years, but we drink now because we drink for u
I've seen Jeff twice in Canada and he is as talented an artist as I have seen. He's a testimony to why the music industry rots. Fellows like him work away, producing truly amazing music, while American Idol contestants spin off into lucrative music careers.
Then again, if Jeff ever got too big, I would have a harder time getting tickets.... :-)
When Jeff was in a Heavy/Rock band called Shatter in Geelong, he was a delight to watch. The mid 80's were a fantastic time for us teenagers listening to metal music. Jeffs covers on songs like Sweet Child O Mine and You Shook me All Night Long were masssive, as Jeff knows the Croatian Club at that time was the place for metal music in the Geelong area. We Geelong Croats haven't forgotten those powerful power cords. Jeff thanks for the good times.
PLEASE DO NOT READ DONT READ THIS PLEASE DO NOT READ DO NOT READ DO NOT READ swear do not read...I don't even know why I'm participating I guess I'm still a bit paranoid. But really do not read this I swear . Also thanks this was really appreciated. DO NOT READ:This is so stupid... But i love my mom deeply... And i don't want to take any chances. Sorry. If you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hour I hat these to. Sorry
It's wrong to compare talent so willy nilly (as you used to, and seem to be doing with that who statement as well). It is so subjective that chances are you yourself will change your opinion of Lang's talent in the future as well.
i will never forger jeff grabing my stubby to slide guitar a forty minute version of garry moores walk on, in the bottom bar of the lorne hotel when he played with shatter. I have seen him everywhere since from port fairy to the falls. by the way check out 7th of november!!!!!!
jeff used to play in a band called shatter in his old hometown Geelong Australia and after the gig he'd always come up to the pizza shop where i worked for a bite to eat i used to drive him home sometimes he is just a great guy
lol yeah its a lap steel, it was once popular and used most with hawaiian music, its maken a come back with roots guitarists like him and ben harper, both r phenomenal musicians
This guy is fuckin legend. Saw him last nite in Enniscorthy, wexford, ireland. He was a guest at a Clive Barnes gig who is from Enniscorthy. Whatb a fuckin show n he rlly knows how to control a crowd. Funny guy!! He looks so different there without the beard.
im speechless jeff you've come a long way mate fantastic remembering from the old days in geelong at the national hotel....proud of you mate.....donny from top of town pizza cheeers.
I love the foot tap beat he brings after 30 or 40 seconds. I don't see many lap slide players do that kind of thing, and often there playing doesn't even have a beat, it just flows with the emotion which is great in itself but this beat really works well.
i saw jeff lang locally at 'woodsongs', which is a npr show recordered downtown, and OMG he kicked ass! his accent's pretty dang hot, too! XD he actually sliced one of his fingers on a string when we were there and just kept right on playing! it was crazy!!! i own the cd that has 'london' and 'big feeling' on it ((my 2 favorite songs of his)).
oui en effet merveilleuse première partie .. mais aussi la dernire chanson avec Tété + Jeff Lang + 1 choriste qui je dois le dire était superbe !! et pour le groupe juste avant c'était UMAN !
John Butler is amazing and I think would be the first to admit that Jeff was his main influence. In my humble opinion Jeff is the technical daddy of em all! Not only is he an incredible player, his songwriting is up there with the best of the best!! Hats off to both JB and JL for giving us outstanding music!!
Oh damned I loved that song ! Great voice too. I met Jeff last may when he played two shows in Paris in la boule noire (Pigalle area). He's a killer onstage and a very cool and nice fellow. I'm glad to know he's back for several dates in France soon. I do wait his concert at the Paris Olympia theater next december 13. The public will be absolutely amazed by this quite talented australian guitar player.
Now i'm a massive fan of butler, but i think that most of those who actually know a little about guitar playing would say that jeff lang is probably more technically skilled as a blues git guy.
But i love JB too. Cut the crap about who's better and enjoy it all.
Couldn't agree more - they're both good - Butler himself would be the first to admit that Lang is a major influence for him, but technically there's no contest.
You're absolutely right wakefieldlax! I'm afraid that, no matter how much I dig and dig I just cannot come up with ANY dirt on that Butler chap! So, as you say, I have nothing on him... ;-)

I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of this guy. Criminal, but I get to discover some great damn music.
The Chris Whitley channel on Pandora paid off in spades.

John Butler said this guys name in an interview, I like John Butler so I had to search Jeff Lang. He also mentioned Bob Brozman.

Throw ' &fmt=18 ' at the end of the address bar for a beautiful stereo version. The default one sounds like listening to it over the phone!
