Starter fluid you get at the car store is NOT the right thing to use. You need a spray can of ether, which is the correct type starting fluid for a diesel engine.
No way I would use starting fluid on this thing. The problem at the time was threefold: fuel not getting into the injector pump; throttle not open to the halfway point; and not enough time with the glow plugs. If I start this thing every other day it fires up quickly but letting it sit for a while results in longer starting time.
its a arasole can with some form of starter fluid in you spray it in to the air filter and stuff starts 1st time. my mate uses it on his old hyster forklift
I figured out that I was doing two things wrong; first, I did not allow enough time when activating the glow plug or "pre heat" system. Secondly, I did not have the throttle pulled out to the halfway point so I was starving the motor from the start. I have always managed to start the generator after some trial and error. Never heard of "easy start" - probably starting fluid like ether?

Hope this helps.

You shouldnt use any type of starting fluid when glow plugs are involved...
