    At one time almost all (if not all) airlines allowed smoking onboard - except when taking off or landing.

    I was probably flying British Airways.

  • @tich302001 most airlines allowed smoking, but on in the seats behind the non-smoking passengers.

    But this was bad for people in ecconomy class, as what used to happen was that they would be right behind the passengers in business class, so that they would breathe in the cigarette smoke from the people sitting in front of them.

    I do not smoke and am pleased that smoking is no longer allowed on aircraft. However, many other people who do smoke will disagree with me!

    I assume that you are talking about the runways? Whilst I know that for ease of identification they are named, I have no idea what the names are.
