The P2 recording codec is far superior to Sony's SXS.But the Sony sensors are better than Panasonics.DSLR's need a better recording codec,but I like the super 35 and full frame sensors.Whats clearly needed is a hybrid utilizing the best of the 3 I have mentioned.If someone could make a Canon 5D MK2 record uncompressed or to a P2 recorder,then you'd have some animal.

Yes, I am liking what DSLR's can do now...especially the Canon 5D. Great solution for indy film work. I still need a camcorder though because I do live events and need to record continuously for several hours.

dslr is much cheaper, same if not better quality. higher still image resolution and more compact too.

DSLR can only record short clips, to a SUPER compressed format that is unusable for anything more than shooting a clip of your cat.
