  • Walter bishop brought me here!

  • @MainstreamChicksSuck hahaha yes!! and now the genius is taking me to a sweet shop for liquorice and a root beer float!!

  • @dixonnufc1 Make sure to follow his instructions to deliver the perfect blend of sugary goodness.

  • Despite being a really stupid song out of context, it's so damn infectious. I just wish Dylan had come up with something better that "just not my cup of meat." That sounds kinda creepy (unless it's a real figure of speech, I dunno). Would it not have sounded a little better as "Just doesn't follow my beat?" I dunno.

  • @BlitztheDragon, Well I think this is a Really Catchy song! I think that "Cup of Meat" should have been "Cut of Meat" Instead, You know? Lol

  • @holmesbinton That works, too.

  • ppl expected bob to save us all from the establishment. bob thought that the idea of a savior was nuts. this song was his answer to that stupidity.

  • RED/BLACK SHEET GEATOR/JERRY BLAVATT GREAT DJ NO MOBSTER

  • bobs is better i think!

  • 1 person is not looking forward to seeing the mighty Quinn

  • When my brains archives reload a song like this,

From within the fragmented files of which i call my memory.

I feel a sense of relief and warmth that maybe alcohol related but it feels good.

  • I'm a fucking existentialist for god's sake! And I was taking the piss.

However,it still sounds to me like he's talking about Brian.sorry.

  • You'll not see nothing like Stephen Quinn!

  • Awesome Bob Dylan song that inspired an awesome Manfred Mann cover song and an awesome Denzel Washington and Robert Townsend movie!

  • my mum named orur old dog that had got put down (r.i.p) quinny after this song wow :o

  • it's got a great bass line

  • The song is brilliant and Manfred Mann's interpretation is genius. Psychedelic without drugs.

  • I thought it was just about futile hope but w/e.

  • It's about Jesus.Believe it,then you'll hear it.

  • @shaunsk

Ugh, no it is about a 1950's movie. Not everything is about your imaginary savior.

  • @silvertube52 keep your opinions to yourself and let people believe what they want alright? peace? ever heard of it? :)

  • @BerrySmoothie18

Sorry but I cannot ignore and will comment upon stupidity.

  • @jankeast At long last -someone likes the song 'cause its awesome....

  • Pepperidge Farm remembers. Remember sipping lemonade underneath a shady tree? Remember when you hit that pedestrian with your car at the crosswalk and then just drove away? Pepperidge Farm remembers, but Pepperidge Farm ain't just gonna keep it to Pepperidge Farm's self free of charge. Maybe you go out and buy yourself some of these distinctive Milano cookies, maybe this whole thing disappears. Then the fish appeared and all hell broke loose. Gawd, help us. Oh, the pedestrian dies. What fun.

  • chooooooon

  • Top tune and brilliant cover version. If you are a devotee of late sixties music, then check out the book, 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man.

  • @war97 Canadians aren't eskimos? They don't teach us nothin' right here in America! ;-)

  • @war97, You'll have to be a Northern Indian to be an Eskimo. Some Americans aren't stupid. ;)

  • @holmesbinton not saying they all are but a lot just don't know about other places other than America

  • @war97, True... I've seen Many Dumb asses!

  • There is a strange man in the village where i live called Harry Quinn and is almost a legend (he uses wheel trims as wall deco) and has crosses tattooed on his brow and talks in his own language when he is in the local pubs. Needless to say he is well known and this is his theme tune. So this is for you Harold <3<3

  • My favorite song when I was a little girl! I had the 45 that I played in my bedroom all the time!!! :)

  • Youll not see nothin like the boy that has no chin oh wait it was operable after all halelujah

  • Classic 1960's band! Thumbs up!

  • this song is about the 2011 Grand National... Quinz has gone from 25/1 to 16/1 and is now the bookies' favourite. Bob Dylan was truely a visionary!!!! Quinz FTW!!!

  • A fine interpretation of Dylan, as sung by King Herod, Michael d'Abo.

  • I was named after this song xD

  • nearly as good as haha said the clown, another classic manfred number.

  • Inuk the Eskimo played by Anthony Quinn is the inspriration.

  • one person doe like Anthony Quinn

  • the guy is an Eskimo because of the famous drug trafficking route over the Bering Land Bridge. The Inuit Mafia controls most of the US drug supply

  • @ghostsinthere2008 Pleistocene drug smugglers?

  • @ghostsinthere2008 'Mighty Quinn' was a type/'brand' of acid in the late 60s' - hence the line 'every ones gonna wanna dose'.

  • These have got to be the "Strangest" comment pages I've ever read. The things people are arguing about are absurd and alot of the other comments are just plain OFF THE WALL and from the best I can tell, make absolutely no sense. This opinion of mine was not written for any of you that actually made sense in your comments. Should anybody ever question their mental health, come here, take a quick read and you will feel much better about yourself.

  • @Msdistarr Go over to Michael Jacksons 'Billie Jean' and read how many commented 'I like this song because my name/babies/dogs/dads/moms/brothers/sisters/neighbors/gerbils name is 'Billie Jean'...or Hendrix' Hey Joe (most comments) and Ritchie Valens 'Oh Donna' or ....and ...etc., etc., etc Its a plot to drive you nutz !

  • Remember listening to this at Fort Ord, E-10-2, GO INFANTRY!!

  • My name is Quinn :>

  • No one can write lyrics like Bob Dylan...

  • @bballman Bob Dylan was one of a kind.

  • I have to say I prefer Dylan's "Self Portrait" version myself, I'm not a huge fan of the "Basement Tapes" version that's been mentioned here.

This is definitely an interesting take on it, though...can't believe I've never heard it!

  • A great cover version by Manfred Mann!

    Written by Bob Dylan.

Fun songs like this aren't made anymore...Sadly.

  • @ChihuahuaboyDH you gotta find the right artists pop music now is looks and fake hype

  • This song wasn't written by Springsteen: that was Blinded By the Light. This tune was written by Dylan. Ergo: who knows what it's about.

  • No, this song is not about LSD or any drugs for that matter...it's by some chap by the name of Bruce Springstien who may have a future as a song and dance man

  • I find it quie humouring, that people still find it hard to understand folk roots.

As a seven year old, i took hold of the ltrics individually and loved them.

At 20, i took hold of the lyrics collectively and, with the simple mindset of the seven year old, it made total sense. But then again, i was raised by musicians and to have a mind of my own. I guess some dont. Furthermore, some could never think with the simple mind of a child, and embrace with siplicity.

    Tank you for uploading.

  • @Shadegat3 im glad you took hold of them now all you need to do is get your hands on a spelling class you dipshit

  • @chewylikesit Perhaps you need a lesson in Grammar, yourself as you missed out an indicator of pause in your opening word: "I'm

" Nor did you use separators between your wordings. However, this is of little importance compared with your level of ignorance. For, you see, i was on a mobile phone and thus could care less for how i typed. the content was more important than the spelling or grammar. But you would have been too busy seeing the faults to have even consider this possible fact. Peace

  • That was my Great Uncle the first Irish Eskimo... The Might Quinn

  • * * * * *

  • This song is originally written by Bob Dylan, "Dylan himself has said that the title character refers to actor Anthony Quinn's role as an Eskimo in the 1959 movie The Savage Innocents." It's not about blow, LSD or any other drugs.

  • @roberth1990 the Savage Innocents is THE Stupidest movie ever made! It has nothing to do with being an Iniut/Eskimo, Eskimo is what the whitey called us.

  • haha my names quinn lol

  • Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  • Quinn is a confirmed Yolartruck Biscuit-swift. Don't be a creep if your up and down on dope. This song guides people to like other Toad-Stunt clown n'down for it. What if you actually could spell you name. You should be so proud of simple life skills only a child claims as one. If you have a command of the english language, then people will stop and cry-havoc. Remember to wear plastic because you'll wet the bed and stain it yellow with cake..

  • Quinn a major metaphor for BLOW!!!!!!!!!! I tell my girl when folks are singing about shooting and she goes to bed! Get used to the decadence of great ROCK bitches!

  • Quinn a major metaphor for BLOW!!!!!!!!!!

  • @KurtMoss you're kidding

  • Coke bigtime!

  • No, this song is not about LSD or any drugs for that matter. I'm getting old, I was a kid when this song came out in 1967, a folk rock song written by Bob Dylan during the 'Basement Tapes sessions' which became a hit in 1968 by the British band 'Manfred Mann' . In an interview with Dylan, the song is about the arrival of the mighty Quinn (an Eskimo), who change dispair into joy and chaos into rest. The inspiration for the song is from the 1959 movie The Savage Inocents, Actor

    Anthony Quinn.

  • @P15Martin No you're totally wrong, this song is about shooting heroin and dropping acid at the same time. It's all a metaphor, in the same way Puff the Magic Dragon is about smoking crack.

  • @79hyperwave what?

  • @doh344 If you read the lyrics as second time, and assign the correct metaphors to the dualities involved, you'll realize that the whole song is about doing acid and heroin at the same time. The actual storyline about the eskimo is basically irrelevant. It's just a clever disguise.

  • @79hyperwave all i think was about drugs is i like to go just like the rest i like my sugar sweet which sounds like doing heroin 0_0

  • @doh344 Nope. This song is specifically about doing heroin and LSD at the same time. It has nothing to do with Cocaine. Nor am I going to sit here and breakdown the lyrics for you. Just figure it out. It's pretty obvious actually.

  • @79hyperwave Stop trolling

  • @79hyperwave Dude how old are you. There was cocaine in the 60's VERY VERY expensive, crack didn't hit the streets until the late 80's, before that it was called freebaseing Crack is the cheap version.

  • @P15Martin certainly does sound like something dylan wrote.

  • @P15Martin i love that fact that you know ur stuff. you must have been very lucky to grow up in a time when music really meant something and was quality stuff

  • By Request - Edwin Garvey

  • For the mighty Quinn - she's not a he or an Eskimo, but I'm certain we haven't seen anything like her :)

  • She's not a he, and she's not an Eskimo - but she is loved.

  • must be refering to actor Anthony Quinn?

  • @A1sausie Actually, Quinn the Eskimo is a drug dealer. The song is about him and the drugs he sells.

  • @NezuChiza are you BSing me?

  • @A1sausie Don't worry, the song it not about a drug dealer. People like to think it is though...

  • @Confectionful What is it about then?

  • Why did I have to miss the 60's, 70's and 80's they looked like the most fun ever.

  • I love this song and don't know why.

  • You can't park here man......this is pigeon country!

  • that bob dylan... what was this song all about?

  • @dinohero sounds about right

  • @dinohero Without a doubt! :-D

  • Justin Bieber voted thumbs down for this song!

  • @hardtobeTHEgod Good thing I don't know who that is.

  • @G2CondorJoe Yeah, he's not really important for the world^^ Just a little teenie...Let's forget him and listen to this great song again;-)

  • @hardtobeTHEgod Lol.

  • And these damn pigeons !

  • Manfred mann is so bad. ive seen them yesterday in schwäbisch gmünd. Ive never senn such a bad band

  • Who did this song first...Manfred Mann or the Hollies?

  • @jjammin1812 Manfred Mann

  • @jjammin1812 Not sure if the Hollies ever did the song.

  • Haha I was named after this song. And the funny thing is, my father and my father's father were social scientists who all were trying to be the Mighty Quinn for society.

  • @diazcamille I've finally met someone who was named after this song too! My name is Quinn xD

  • luv itt

  • Amazing music!

  • @odst311 I thought it was that until now hahaha

  • fun song!

  • Mighty Quinn - Slang name for LSD

  • @strangesam And all this time i thought it was about a eskimo hero

  • @sizzorgirl67 lol, me too
