I just go crazy for Carroll Baker !! To address a few comments: Check NETFLIX- I streamed HARLOW and SYLVIA. I loved her as Harlow, but many people who arent that familiar w/her may be missing out on the broad variety of styles and looks, etc., that Carroll posessed. She kinda played Harlow twice: Once, in the title role, and ,in THE CARPETBAGGERS, "rena Marlow" was said to be a thinly veiled depiction of Jean Harlow.Imagine, BABY DOL, how shocking for it'stime! Viva, Carroll Baker !
When are we going to see the DVD release of Harlow ? Come on Paramount, lets see a remastered disc of this wonderful film in it's original Panavision format.
@tenterden16 Olive Films has purchased a number of films from Paramount and HARLOW will be released on September 28. The film will be in 2.35 widescreen, to bad no extras will come with it. I just hope they give us a re-mastered print. Shame on Paramount, the cheap bastards, I would have loved audio with Carroll Baker talking about the making of one of my fave films. Check it out on Amazon.
@mansfield67 Hello and thank you so much for your exciting news that Harlow will be getting a DVD release in September. I have always loved this film. Yes, what a pity there is no audio from Carroll Baker but at least we have the film in it's correct ratio. One of my other favorite films (Up the Junction) (also from Paramount), had no extras, apart from a trailer. Many of the actors are still with us, I suppose it all comes down to money. Take Care.
Nobody could play bitches as well as CARROLL BAKER.She was ideal for the part of JEAN HARLOW,they should release the dvd.I remember seeing her in a movie called STATION SIX SAHARA;the only good thing in it was her performance.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Caroll in 1965 when she visited our base in Thailand with the Bob Hope Christmas Show. I was very nurvious talking with her. You can hear the interview at bmorton5 on youtube.
I have HARLOW on VHS and it's one of my fave movies. I wish Paramount would release it on DVD in widescreen, with the original trailer and other extras. Audio commentary with Miss Baker would be wonderful! Would also like to see the Carol Lynley version again, saw it on TV years ago, and as I remember the look was more 1930's.
I REALLY think that the movie HARLOW starring Carroll Baker should certainly have a DVD Presentation ~ I know that it was a little "over the top" but it's still fun to watch - does anyone out there know how to obtain a copy of the movie, HARLOW?
Saw a couple of copies available on EBay.. not cheap either ! Try used record stores that sell used VHS tapes a copy might turn up. I check Amazon now and then, hoping it will make it to DVD sooner or later.
Ms. Baker, The PERFECT woman! Thank you for posting this well done tribute!
