The only reason we would have stopped this long at this spot is if there was something wrong with a float near the back of the parade. This is not a spot for a show stop and they've put the dancers on modified routine to keep them from getting too hot during the delay.
@MrDisneyfanman They started to fasten the characters to the floats in the early 2000s (or at least build fences around them) because one fell off and got run over. That character was in the parks everywhere the next day because the news, instead of saying that an actor there died, said that the character himself died. I was in Walt Disney World when that happened. So many kids were sobbing.
@rockoncat89 They reused the rhinos for the 50th celebration of Disneyland. They were in the Lion King float portion of the Parade of Dreams, which is "hosted" by Julie Andrews. You can find the parade on youtube as well!
@pvtread i think i remember it was because it was an interactive perade not a show stop as such but to interact with the scorpians and such likes on the ground!

@gastonfamily2005 Thats interesting, did you have very many breakdowns with parades?
Where are the Parade show stops on Main Street?
The dancers were awesome with the parade audience, thank you for your info about the parade!

was there a reason for the long stop, or was it because it was such a popular movie that everyone wanted a close up interaction with them.
