@beatcat22 Filling SRV's shoes is like an impossible task but Earl Slick did OK, if you like that single pickup Eddie Van Halen sort of thing...good point
Bowie always say that the best thing about the 80's is that it made him rich enough to be experimental in the 90's ;) I love him, he's the god of music
I'm looking at that statement with some reluctance. The Bowie 80ies started with Scary Monsters, which is maybe his greatest succes at being credible and commercial. Let's dance means probably as much to that generation (being mine) than Ziggy Stardust to people being 10 years older. From there on, what a path to discovery was opened! Thank you for that DB and may you get very old and very well.
his work from after Never Let Me Down kicks hard ass. the only reason it didn't get mainstream was because after Nirvana the mainstream rock scene changed so much artists like Bowie were more left to go 'underground', figurativly speaking.
WORD. The 90's marked a return to the experimental, his whole approach to writing and performing became one big glorious oddity again. And now he's rightfully assumed his place as Rock God.
By "later," I can only assume you're referring to the other 2 solo albums he did in the 80s, which Bowie himself isn't too proud of. What he created in the 90s and beyond is some of the best work that not only he has ever done, but some of the best work anyone has ever done. Just because it wasn't played on the radio doesn't mean it's "shitty." In fact it's the opposite, almost everything on the radio IS shit. People who listen to whatever is spoon-fed to them on the radio have no taste.
i want to join the pole shift survival group or start the new one.
