Because, before the album came out there was a discussion on a FA forum, and people were denying that the peas were going to be the album cover, and then, when the album finally came out, they were a little embarassed that the pea's made the album cover. And they had declared that those were indeed peas. They don't look like peas because they are not fully developed.
