  • deep six version is betr

  • This is definitely my favorite Soundgarden song!

  • the lyrics are about the accused witches that they used to make "float" in the water to prove they were'nt heretics....and most of them just drowned. "Flesh on the Fire" "Burnt at the Stake". Great lyrics here

  • amazing transition. one of the most under rated tracks ever by any band

  • Love soundgarden but this felt a bit lazy..

  • Comment removed

  • This version was from the movie soundtrack to "Pump Up The Volume". It was also released the same year on a Japanese E.P. called "Loudest Love" along with some other cool b-sides.

  • I am high, and am watching this video back to back with:

Love Battery - Highway of Souls

    watch?v=vg0tazNpPxQ

    Soundgarden - Tighter & Tighter

    watch?v=SHmBz9T7ml0

  • which version came first, this or the deep six one?

  • @Ballermhcdj I may be wrong, but i think Soundgarden's contribution to Deep Six was their first release. So Deep Six came first.

  • Holy SHIT this is incredible!

  • today's shitty music is based on face ass and hot titties...look at mtv radio and the billbored top whore lists real music was lost with our generation. now it's cuntree and rap with disney crap rock. enjoy the past my friends.

  • @jaktrajik word so true so true !!!! have a nice one !

  • Can't believe I haven't heard this version before... I've always thought that the one on Deep Six is the only one

  • you are the shit version

  • @realhardheaded

    LOL!

  • this is the shit version

  • My favorite grunge song!!!!

  • first time i ever heard this song was from the movie 'Pump up the volume," great fucking movie, and a great fucking song!!....

  • Kick-ass song, I prefer the Deep Six version though, more intense imo

  • I FUCKING LOVE IT

  • i hope sound garden doesn't sell out

  • I hope Soundgarden plays this at Lollapalooza.

  • ohhh yes Soundgarden rocks the universe!!!A-Sides songs are so great!!!!!!

  • dude thats the story of my life =)

  • Such is a good song, such a good.

    Deep Six was crazy.

  • soundgarden is finally back together.

  • This song popped in my head today... Awesome.

  • i love soundgarden....

  • I miss you Soundgarden. Louder Than Love got me through high school. Thanks guys.

  • i like how this song makes guitars in distortion sound beautiful

  • witches float

  • Wasn't this the first soundgarden song?

  • Holy shit, this is awesome. Heretic was always one of my favorite songs on the Deep Six comp, I never knew they later did another version. Arguably better... maybe.

  • oh no, here we go on some more metallica and green day comments- wtf does that have anything to do with an original band like soundgarden- never before and never again duplicated.....

  • Metallica had some good shit back in the day, everything pre-Load (of shit) was awesome.

  • man this song kicks ass!! the movie was fuckin' awesome too!!

  • I though this movie was pretty cool, slater was a badass

  • this is so strange, im twenty and im doing exactly that, when I read your comment I thought I was hallucinating

  • this is heavier than the deep six version..

    chris voice is legendary!

  • we all sold out on these bands

  • this was one of Kurt Cobain's favourite songs, HE SAYS IN HIS JOURNAL! Definitely his fav soundgarden song

  • "Sorry Metallica was better than Soundgarden at one time."

LovehateA, that's an unfair comparison. Different styles of music and songwriting.

"The both have something in common, they both sold out...BADLY!"

Soundgarden never sold out, they did something Metallica wouldn't, and that is produce their own (and unfortunately their last) album.

  • I have a doubt LovehateA: if music died in 2002 AND 2004, what happened in 2003? Was it half-dead music? Zombified?

Also, it's typical for insecure and unconfident individuals to diss on other bands just to feel more comfortable concerning their personal tastes.

    Just shut up and enjoy.

  • I'm not dissing Soundgarden, I love them. just saying bands like Fall Out boy can't touch them.

  • Music died when Layne Staley died in 2002 and Dimebag Darrel was murderd in 2004. God rest theirs souls for creating some of the best music ever.

  • na we still have queens of the stone age, and what are you talking man? Layne wasnt a songwriter. Just a singer. A great one though

  • Layen wasn't a songwriter? what about Mad Season huh? Forget that?

  • yyyyeeeeeaaaah but his melodies werent THAT good in Mad Season IMO.

  • Bullshit your in denial, what about angry chair, headcreeps, and hate to feel? Chris writing isn't that good either, Kim was a better song writer.

  • wow, you need to listen to better songwriters. The only reason I said that was cause you said, "Music died when Layne Staley and Dimebag died." My point was if youre gonna say something like that, consider using better song-writers.

To be honest youre just upset cause you dont like DuVall, Jerry wrote almost all Alice in Chains stuff, new albums gonna be great. P.S. Why the fuck would I be in denial? I have covers of Alice in chains and Mad Season on my channel. I love Layne

  • What the fuck? I never said i didn't like Duvall youprick and Jerry did write a good amount but what about Frogs, God Am, Love,Hate,Love, Dirt, godsmack and other stuff like that huh,his name is credited or did you just look at the first name? And what the fuck again," consider using better song-writers" who the fuck do you think you are Dimebag has no rival in metal guitar writing. The man who named the band is dead asshole.

  • oh i never disagreed on Dimebag, he's definitely a great songwriter. The songs you mentioned up there are credited to Layne for LYRICS, not the music. Calm down man, im not having any fight here. Anyway, your wish! If Laynes small contribution in songwriting means a lot to you thats fine by me

  • sorry for being a dick, I thought you were dissing my heros man, Still love Soundgarden and Chris but Layne and Dime ment a lot to me and now thier gone.

  • hey dude!!! i love the queens

  • You can get this song on "Pump up the volume" soundtrack. Bad movie but really good soundtrack.

  • that was a freakin' awsome movie!!!

  • this used to be the favourite song of kurt cobain.

  • where can i get this song

  • god-head

  • Thayils guitar work in this song takes me away... Long live Soundgarden.

  • Even their b-sides are 10 times better than some rock crap of these days. Proove of the high quality of SG!

  • one of the best drummers ever! matt caMeron

  • Yea! now that's what I call rock music! good old "Mr.Cornell's-amazing-screeching-wail"!

much better than that crap people refer to as "heavy-metal". this band is WAY underrated, and I just can't understand how come such cheesy bands like Metalicrap or Greendork or the other new bands(don't let me get started about M.C.R.)get a thousand times more reviews than soundgarden. c'mon people! doesn't anyone has a taste in music anymore?

By the way, this song is awesome.

  • i have good taste in music(at least i think so) this is my favorite SG song and they are my second favorite band (Jane's Addiction being my first)i think todays music is shit (exept for Tool)and if i could i would go back to the late 80s, early 90s, rather than being in this shitty decade.

  • you got that right

  • well, i am a fan of Metallica and Green Day, but in my opinion, Soundgarden beats them. i remember listening to Superunknown and this when I was 4, and I'm 20 now. that's how much of an impact Soundgarden had on me.

    Total Fucking Godhead.

  • me too, I was 2 when Superunknown came, and still to this days, it's unbeatable!

    Amazing!

  • yeah. black hole sun was my favorite song, but now that im listening to this song again, this is my favorite. its so awesome, i turned the first chorus into a ringtone.

  • @xxbloodrayne9xx You prefer Jane's Addiction to Soundgarden?

  • @Radz117 i do but its just a personal preference really i grew up with them and their music means alot to me

  • @xxbloodrayne9xx It's cool.

  • @xxbloodrayne9xx There are lots of great bands out there at the moments.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos his post was 3 years old.lol

  • i have the Deep Six version

  • Anyway you can upload that version, POR FAVOR?

  • i can send you a mediafire link

  • Yeah, that would be much appreciated.

  • thanks for posting this! i've been waiting a long time for someone to post "Heretic" from soundgarden. If my "Windows Movie Maker" had worked, I would have made a video of my own hehe

If you have the "Deep Six Compilation" version of Heretic, don't hesitate to upload it.

  • No Problem, I don't have the other version though. The ones I uploaded are all I had that weren't already on Youtube. But if I come across it, I'll put it up.

  • Cool, I actually learned how to play the riffs and it's actually a pretty easy song to learn For beginners anyways hahaha
