  • @daviddannieu7 That's gr8! Now you can DIE!

  • This test is lame. MobileSafari 4.0 included on iPhone OS 3.0 passes acid3 flawlessly with 100/100. And double tapping doesn't do anything because there are no usabe frames there, duh!

  • Opera Mobile 10 passes Acid3 as well.

  • Yeah, what is this song? It has a very sick ass beat! Im really jamming to this shit :)

  • opera mobile can render images and text better than safari but opera mobile tends to crash about the same a safari they are both prone to crashing i dont care what you say about "my safari doesn't crash" they crash. as in the tests it says 27/100 for acid3 it should be atleast 50/100 on the latest hardware. yes hardware can somewhat change the score.

  • whats the name of the song?

  • Very objective test... (NOT!)

  • whoa man your phone is so slow. everyone knows that the iphone/ipod touch is better than that piece of sh!t. and i pass the acid2 test perfect on my ipod touch, and acid3 74/100

YOU ARE THE WORST FUCKI... A...HOLE

  • acid 2 i don't see the top of the head

    acid 3 i passed with 74/100

    on safari mobile

  • it is because he is using an antique version of mobile safari and he's using an updated version of opera mobile

  • Safari is more stable, cleaner and as another poster said-just plain sexy! Apple knows how to market products and they do a damn good job. And I can copy and paste, video record, save files from the Internet, and even use a mobile finder to edit, view, move and more with all the files on my iPhone. I even create 3rd party applications straight from my iPhone.

  • I love watching the futility of apples to oranges comparisons. I love the iPhone/iPod Touch. I dont own either and instead have an HTC Kaiser. they are two totally different styles of device. There are interface options that are as fast as the iphone for windows mobile. But if i want smooth simple interface i'll get an iphone. Which i may do at some point. But I just can't get away from Windows Mobile. the 3'rd party support is just too great. But the Apple sector is gaining ground fast. :)

  • I love reggae!

  • mm thats weird because i did the same acid 3 test on my ipod touch and i can see all the boxes and the final score is 74/100... maybe is because i have a newest firmware.. i dont know..

  • can opera mobile be used on the ipodtouch?

  • nope

  • yes it can,

have it on my htc touch diamond

  • but he asked about ipod touch, not htc touch

  • Just Acid tests?

You should have pointed out how you can copy and paste text (perhaps to save in a note file), as well as download files with Opera Mobile 9.5. Try doing either of those things with Safari Mobile-oh, wait, you can't.

That said, we should thank Safari Mobile for raising the bar for mobile browsers, because Opera Mobile 9.5 may not have turned out like this if it didn't exist.

  • All good points, but i think since this video has been published the iphone has lost most of the glamour of being the most advances phone ever. Its no longer the thinnest, it no longer has the higest resolution screen, it does not even have the prettiest interface. This video showed that the iPhone's killer app, Mobile Safari is not, as was previously claimed, the most advanced mobile browser. The main area where WM now has to catch up to is ease of use and intergration but that is coming also.

  • I don't think the iPhone was ever the thinnest phone (there are thinner dumb phones, and maybe thinner smartphones) or the phone with the highest-resolution screen (VGA and WVGA Windows Mobile devices were released before it)-maybe it's having a balance of the two in one package.

As for "prettiest interface", that's highly subjective. While I might be preferential to HTC's new TouchFLO 3D interface, others might stick with their iPhones and iPod touches.

  • I think at 11.5mm the original iPhone was certainly the thinnest smartphone, but of course the iPhone 3G is a lot chunkier, and the Touch Diamond that was designed as an iPhone killer is even thinner than the original iPhone.

While I agree that prettiness is subjective, I think the text message, e-mail and weather interface of TouchFlo3D definitely has a lot of wow factor, and its a real pity HTC does not do more TV advertising showing these of.

  • It's also a pity that TouchFLO 3D isn't a general Today screen plugin for use on any and all WM devices...then again, I suppose it's working for them since it makes me want the Touch Pro that much more.

And, speaking of HTC TV advertising, does it even exist? I certainly don't see any ads on the rare occasion I'm watching, whereas I have seen iPhone ads.

Maybe if the WM device manufacturers advertised better years ago, people wouldn't confuse an X51v or an hx4700 for an iPhone nowadays...

  • its a pity the you think the iphone 3g is a lot chunkier than the original iphone. its about 1.5 mm thicker in the very middle of it, but then it tappers out to make it actually thinner than the previous generation overall.

  • prettiest interface? it still does, as the iphone's interface doesn't LAG, unlike some other shiny winmo smartphones (cough cough).

  • this guy knows nothing about safari-lol.

  • umm it you do know that the wifi is much faster than wap connection right

  • lol

  • Obviously not a regular Safari Mobile user. You can't just double tap anywhere you want on the screen. If you want a part of the screen zoomed in, you double tap that part of text or the picture. Then it will zoom to the screens width that paragraph or photo you double tapped to view.

  • He knows that.

  • Run those tests on the Touch Pro and you will get a significant better score.

  • I've got an Ipod Touch and a Touch Diamond so I have great familiarity with both devices.

Opera Mobile 9.5 certainly doesn't suck: it's reliable and fast, and offers more scope than Safari as it has support for widgets and plugins. When Adobe release Flash Lite 3.0 on the Windows Mobile platform we'll see (for example) flash video within the Opera browser itself.

The word wrap feature alone makes browsing a joy.

Both browsers are great though and I use both devices frequently.

  • so whuich in your oppion is better personalty i can't stand opera on my wing it takes to long but when is the new flash coming out?

  • opera sucks, i have used it on a new HTC device and it made me want to whip the phone to the ground.

i think i will stick to mobile safari on the iPhone. its cleaner, simpler, faster, and just looks damn sexy.

  • What a very bad video ! (Did you make it in a smoggy bath-room ?

  • Oh! It was just his bad web-cam.

  • heya, chump. you are insulting and mean... did you know that the webcam was a bit fuzzy? Anyways, I bet you couldn't make a video better than this one... if you know how WMPowerUser actualy MADE the video. I'm gonna watch some of your videos and see if you're as good as WMPowerUser. Then, I will comment on the videos. I think WMPowerUSer has an opinion; and you shouldn't try and change it... opinion changer. Anyways, WMPowerUser, I think you're video is awesome. Keep up the good work... nurs1000

  • very well said, i totally agree with you.

  • Difficile de faire plus merdique comme vidéo (ça a été filmé dans une salle-de-bains embuée? )

  • Hey, that is good quality video! You just don't know.

  • it proves compatibility... which is basically the purpose of any communication device.

  • It proves what it proves, period. I agree however that the title should be "acid test rendering in Opera and Safari Mobile" instead of "Opera vs Safari". One expect to see comparison at different levels and not only for acid tests.

  • Double-tap to zoom in didn't work because you tapped a blank area. You have to tap a cell or the table to adjust its size to fullscreen.

And iPod touch gets 40/100 if you wait some seconds after error on 27/100.

I prefear Mobile Safari. Easier to use, faster, better interface, better user experience... It just works.

  • So you mean to zoom I should tap in the cells I want to avoid tapping in because they are too small. Thats very circular. I thought the iPhone was intuitive.

You are right that the Safari eventually made it to 40, a full 30 seconds later, and with no progress towards actually drawing the boxes.

  • The ability to download files, save pictures and copy and paste... basically anything, are a lot more necessary than iPhone users would like to believe, I Think.
