wow you guys actually have a question i feel i can answer so here it goes. i feel that a privilege is something that can be giving whereas a right is something that is earned through blood sweat and tears.
A priveliege is something you have to earn and can be taken from you.
A right is something you will always have and it can never be taken from you.
The question is: Which rights and which privelieges are we going to grant?
I think the basic tenants of the UN human rights declaration + freedom of speech and press, a right to be ruled by a democraticly elected government and a right to live and die as you see fit.
A Privilege is a benefit it can be trodden on kicked and revoked.
A Right is an entitlement ,it can be trodden on kicked but can never be revoked.

I pretty much agree with your view on rights, but I think that privilege is a little broader than that.

Havir : awesome first video.
The power of the open question is a big one. ;)
I'll agree with the other heather: right's tend to be associated with legal rights. Typically, a right is seen a something you can't lose though.
When you have "no right to do something", often the person is asserted that there should be a law stopping you. You are immoral in some way.
Privelidge is a special "right" which is EARNED and which can be taken away when its not deserved.

But can't privileges also be inherited? After all, "the privileged classes" refers to those that have had comfort handed to them.

Good point!!!
The Bramin, the upper class, etc ...
The distinction seems more to be that you are "special" in having this ability?
