  • I REALLY like this clip, pay no mind to the naysers saying nay

    Professor Perplexed

    of the University of Errors

"playing the role of Mike Howlett the first couple of minutes of this video -- i'll cherish that !!! and Josh Pollock as Gilli/Moonweed/Glisses sync is really funny.

  • Its only bands like GONG and EARTH CULTURE that really have something to say!!!

  • Comment removed

  • wish i was there, gong rule out of the rules!

  • fantabulous

  • Pierre moerlens drumming on this album is untouchable..RIP Pierre Moerlen..

May the gong family ever remember YOU..

  • Yep I totally second that,an incredible musician RIP

  • cheers dylan..take care mate..

  • their best works are related to jazz.

  • Absolut verrückte Musik! Ein psychodelic Trip!! GONG spielen in Deutschland, u. anderem in Bonn und Oldenburg..., mit der Steve Hillage Band ! ! !

  • Classic Gong, even Didier malherbe, Bloomdido bad de grass is there! Thanks

  • Kinda makes you wonder where Phish got their sound from.

  • Ends too soon

  • Pierre Moerlen´s Gong, remember ?

    I do

  • Whats a ruckus?

  • God save Daevid Allen and all the lovefull Gong Family

  • Of course this is the "you" LP or CD. Though most Gong gigs I have seen in the last 20 years don't add anything new. So I suspect you are missing little.

  • Fukin to Borin man they were shit years ago an am still playin the same winey shit now..There are a lot of bands an still are that produce this sound...Hawkwind were the Trip, an Ozrics fuckin tript ya tits..Roland 303, now theres the POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Daevid, you smoke too much bananas!

    Big BoOm from Everywhere

  • Daevid Allen he smokes not enough bananas,or does he live on the banana moon??

  • My mistake. Same song. Just the video and audio are so far off track.... What a drag. Still like the tune, though.

  • they are not the same song :) my mobile phone didnt record audio so I put a trac k on top myself :)

  • Nice tune, however... Too bad the video and the music aren't the same song. WTF???

  • u cant go wrong listening 2 gong #####

  • saw daevid and the magic brothers a few years ago now and ...amazing is not good enough a word they left me on planet gong and i think i am still there.more of the same ,preferably at a hawkfest which is probably the only real festival left...glastonbury is for pop bands.

  • Hey now you've had a year off can we have another Gong Family Unconvention ? Anywhere's cool tho Amsterdam was fab.. . pretty please?

    Huh ? Huh ? Huh ?

  • Nice bass lines by Mike Howlett!

  • Gong, what can i say F****g fantastic even without a smoke

  • But even more with one.

  • No doubt.

  • Nice compilation :)

  • I remember their concert at Melkweg in Amsterdam. It was '74 or '75 (?) and the they played a lot music from "You" (this song too). One of the best 'psychedelic' concerts of my life...also the audience was a visual 'show'!!

  • you, fut sans doute un des albums les plus creatif de ces trente dernieres annees

    unchef d'oeuvre? un chef d'oeuvre

  • Really hip musicians play free music - I love GONG!

  • i too was there

    on the isle of everywhere

  • delicious! syrup, warm liquid.... a smile to your heart daevid

  • man.. inner and outter temple are not from you.. they are from angel's egg album..

and this music is inner temple

  • Are you talking about the song in the video? Yes inner and outer temple are from angels egg, but the song in the video is not inner temple, its isle of everywhere, which is from you.

  • The "You" album is like a good wine - it only gets better by the years. And Pierre Moerlen on percussion is great on this album.

  • Hi,

this is not Pierre Moerlen. Moerlen is dead :-(

  • Hi there!

I know he is dead. (RIP Pierre)

However he was still alive when this music was recorded. It comes from the album "You" recorded in 1974. My favorit Gong album.

  • Where's the original audio for this gig?

It's been overdubbed with a track from the YOU album from 1975 or thereabouts

  • Hi, it was shot from an old mobile phone, without audio recording... no original audio whtatsoever :) just a visual memory...

  • I always said Gong is what Pink Floyd would sound like if they could play and weren't miserable bastards.

    Peace, Steve

PS: I still love the Floyd.

  • nice observation

  • ...how come I know the soundtrack?

  • Excellent track from an excellent album!

  • who's in the band in this version. Killin musicians on this.

  • this song is from studio album angel's egg ( Gong ) Outer Temple * Daevid Allen: Guitars, Vocals * Tim Blake: Synths, Vocals * Steve Hillage: Guitars * Mike Howlett: Bass * Didier Malherbe: Flute, Saxophones * Pierre Moerlen: Drums, Percussion * Gilli Smyth: Spacewhisper, Vocals

  • The music from this video is from the YOU album and the third/final in the Gong trilogy. musicians were, Mike Howlett on bass, the late great Pierre Moerlin on drums, Didier Malherbe on sax, Tim Blake on syn. Daevid Allen and his wife at the time Gilli Smyth.. it's a great, great album from about the mid seventies....go buy it or steal it if you can:)

  • Yes I confirm... I took it from YOU, not sure if it was Outer Temple or Inner Temple....

YOU are I, and I am YOU

  • Good work, Mao! Apart from the abrupt start and finish, you managed to capture some nice clips from the live concert, and the editing is very competent. You deserve a REAL movie camera, man! :-) GONG was a MAJOR inspiration to me in the 1970s - and it's so beautiful to see Daevid, Gilli, Bloomdidier, Mike Howlett, et alia continue to trance the new generation out :-)

  • dude, being at a gong concert must be thousands of times more trippy than just listening to it.

  • A saw Gong in Amsterdam in the early '70s. This was authentic psychedelic music, while someone still thinks it was the Pink Floyd's one...

  • gong is total music.

  • yes, i like this collage!!!

    thanks

    ppp

  • All is one, and one is Gong.

  • The Isle of Everywhere... so good

  • No chance mate! That's fucking Pierre Moerlen! You've put the track from "YOU" over some footage from Amsterdam. That's stupid! Please ammend this and let everyone know that they can't possibly play like that anymore! Pierre past away and no fucker can replace him.

    That's all, cheers.

  • Of course man :)

the shooting is from a mobile phone with no audio, in 8 different moments...

who you think would imagine thats the audio from the concert? would you think a single track can span 3 days??? and no voices coming out when he sings? thats from you, and is just an audio comment to some IMAGES.

Cool it down man :) no bad words, and respect who passed away...

    love...

    Mao

  • Hey MaoTseDog: You use the best MZK to describe this mobile-phone-pics ! Thx they correlate perfect !

  • @Spillage66 um, they acutally play better now than at most times in the 70s and 80s, either using here n now band drummer steve cassidy, or ananda shamal. pierre may have passed over, but the band are now better than they ever were live.

  • @gnowave I very very doubt it! Hillage's guitaring isn't half as good. The only players who have stuck to their skills are Howlett, Malherbe and Allen. The new drummer's really good, but nowhere near as great as Moerlen.

  • @Spillage66 so what your saying is that you feel more drawn to pierre moerlen's gong? which is diferent in esence and substance to the spirit of daevids gong. daevid fucked off late 70s and got here&now and new york gong to rebel against what howlett and moerlen were getting it into. (my own taste being left aside). technically howlett & moerlen r masters, but not much fun tho. daevid and steve are gentle inclusive folk, where as a look at howletts facebook comments, well, he's not very nice.

  • @Spillage66 pierre's band was not gong, but peirre's gong. so its a non-argument. two totally diferent bands. and tho giving a nod to the skill of the moerlen/howlett camp, i prefer the fun and inclusivness of daevid, steve, didier etc. howlett just openly slags daevid off, very nastily. steve? well, he's had plenty of troubles to get thru, and got thru it thanx to miquette's love and solidity, but his spirit in his playing is still very kind and generous. we dont all need tortured by training

  • @gnowave You misunderstood me mate. I'm talking about Gong during the mid-Trilogy era, '72 to '75. What did Steve go through? I'm ignorant of the facts there, but I suspected something must have happened with him, as his singing has suffered terribly. I also wasn't aware of the bitching re- Howlett either. Cheers.

  • The best Daevid Allen in the Universe...

    <8o)

  • God save Daevid Allen and all the lovefull Gong Family...

    <8o)

  • I wish I'd been there
