  • @lifeson30 Not really a cover though, since Cornell was the singer for that band.

  • Miss that solo but acoustics have their way always with me.

  • computers should have a built in gun so when some stupid cunt gives a thumb down to a chris cornell acoustic video they receive a bullet straight to the brain.

  • true true heis a great music artist

  • Is this the one taken in out of exile as a bonus track?

  • @mihsathe nope, because there he does some mistakes.. he plays some wrong chords in the chorus :P :P and here he enter with the voice a bit later

  • @mostofall86

In my humble opinion, I think that Chris' best talent is found in his voice.

  • He has one of the most amazing voices ive ever heard.,,,,

I definately like the acoustic version of this song better because the instruments dont drown out his voice

  • I've just put a video up with my version of this great song. Chris Cornell has always been a massive musical influence on me so i thought i'd give it a go. Click on my name and let me know what you think. Good or bad.

  • Whoever dislike this is a fool

  • great song and performance. Greetings from Croatia !!!!!!!!!

  • 21 cock suckers...

  • @SeracGP agreed!! 21 cock suckers indeed!! lol

  • i think this is a great acoustic song!

  • I always thought Chris Cornell had an amazing voice and was maybe along with Eddie Vedder the best singers of that 90's movement. But this performance puts him in that elite amazing top 10-15 all time rock singers. He seems like a douche though.

  • @KWDOLFAN2010 its a toss up cuz theyre soo different.. but id say it between chris eddie an layne

  • Great acoustic version! Fucking-A

  • top 5 songs

  • el mejor para mi

  • Better version than the album one.

  • It's not just that he hits those notes...that's amazing in and of itself...but it's that it seems so effortless when he does it that's truly mind-boggling..

  • this man has one of the greatest voices ever.. he has no highest note.. almost seems like he could go on forever.. just an amazing talent.. keep rockin chris

  • The master of vocals sir Chris Cornell, what a talent, the voice comes from the lungs then it' s so specific tone in the throat, thus yielding an indescribable pleasure for the earth, what a complicated machine is CC, the power from lungs, the beauty in the throat

  • the two coolest men in universe: Robert Downey jr. and Chris Cornell !!

  • one of the greatest rock voices... period

  • @StrangeChief one of the greatest voices period.

  • @StrangeChief i couldent agree more, i think hes the 3rd greatest singer of all time, right behind Bruce Dickinson, and Geoff Tate

  • That is not an original but its cool

  • that is not orginal but it's cool

  • song and sentiment anyone would be happy to create. cant get enough of his music.

  • check this one... good version too!!

    watch?v=gebP5K2j9w0

  • Nice tan.

  • bravissimo super monstruo buena buena papa siga siendo el mejor

  • WAY Beyond unbelievable.........Untouched performance.......

  • todos los que critican a este monstruo de la musica que la sigan mamando... porque no se van todos a escuchar lady gaga

  • i love that man, his voice is so fucking incredible, his job is great and i do like a lot of the songs on the scream record, he just wanted to do something different, he i's also working on something for Slash's next album btw

  • I wish I had Chris Cornell's vocals... Well, maybe his vocals from about 10-15 years ago. He still does well, but I prefer his older stuff. Don't hate me for saying this, but I actually do like some of his newer stuff (Timberland not so much), and I'll always love his Soundgarden/Audioslave years.

Also, let the man be as he is, not many musicians would wander off from their original musical styles to try other things. He's doing well, so let's at least respect that.

  • Who are any of you to question what a legend does? That's all I gotta say.

  • sounded like he rushed the song a little IMO, would have been nicer if he took it slower

  • This is an acoustic solo performance. It's like 10bpm faster. Dude wrote the song, and this is his solo rendition. Lol @ telling someone that in your opinion they played their own song incorrectly.

  • @ender

i saw him 2 years ago solo, and he took the song way slower and i loved it, but can't find it anywhere. just because someone writes and performs a song does not mean that you can't have an opinion about anything. Oh and strong week old bump, U mad?

  • The only one mad would be you because you can't find your precious version. You can have an opinion on his work if you'd like as everyone is entitled, but you aren't the artist or even remotely musically inclined so it's irrelevant. He arranged it this way for a reason. He's even stated that he prefers it this way. lolumad?

  • The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity.

  • @enderx420 It's possible to play your own songs wrong. Live performers do it all the time. Dragonforce is a great example of guys who can't play their own songs live.

  • What a fucking rare voice....

  • Soundgarden was great but that was in the past. Why don't you let the guy just be a musician?

  • i wouldn't want to play outshined or jesus christ pose when i'm 50

  • sorry but masterblasterH3 is spot on....

  • he made his way in2 the spotlight with soundgarden ...then the fans just carried over 2 audioslave ...cuz it was more badass cornell vocals and tom morello 2 bak him up....what hes done now is just disgraceful tho! .,...TIMBA-FUCKIN-LAND r u kidding me!???

  • Masterbat.. do you have a cd that's better? Are you a recording artist? Or do you just like to get on youtube and spout off with your bad spelling, bad language and your uneducated opinion?

  • man fuck you! i have a right like everyone else to state my opinion ...just like everyone else does on this fucking comment box in youtube ! who do you think you are to just cut down a single comment out of all the youtube comments!

  • Agreed... And anyone who defends Timbaland is just a plain idiot. Educated or not

  • @BrixSnBs I was actually defending Cornell. It's real easy to sit at your computer desk and rip on an artist. If you don't like what he's doing now....don't buy it. But why litter youtube with idiotic meaningless comments. That's all I'm saying.

  • I agree with you about the Timberland crap, but I love what Cornell can do with his vocals at this stage in his career. Ill bet some of the songs on the new album will be good when he strips them down to accoustic like this is.

  • @masterblasterH3 Shut the *&*& up idiot

  • Well this is brlliance. Props to Cornell.

  • Masterpiece. Just brilliant songwriting.

    I love his voice......put me in a trance......in your house I want to be......beautiful!!

  • chris cornell is a amazing singer since sound garden and temple of the dog he is awesome. and the key songs of his that gets under my skin is this song and his song orginal fire. i understand about pain and bit about love and i know what he does is mainly for the fans and what he loves but the lyrics make me think of the ones i love and how to ensure my dreams as a writer though. music heals the soul through thick or thin music rehabilates my soul so know i'm just as human as you all

  • amazing

  • need to do your research better then

  • lol ever heard of soundgarden, that is what made him not audioslave do your research

  • i know soundgarden, im just saying hes better when he was with audioslave. Hes still a very talented artist but i think hed be better with audioslave

  • Thats funny because without Chris Cornell there would be no Audioslave or soundgarden.

  • you're so stupid.

Chris Cornell was the lead singer of the mighty Soundgarden.

If you never heard the name, you know nothing about music.

just type Soundgarden in google, and see results.

    Asshole.

  • He had a very brief solo act, but this song is not from it, it is after it with Audioslave.

  • he's the man....aini got anything more to say....long life to chris cornell!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's good in his carrer solo but better than in Audioslave!!

  • Just perfect - I sooo wish you could get a cd of this!

  • you can....

  • I waiting like a stone for him to come back =7

  • they always do...

  • so frickin' sweeeeeeet.........come back to Audioslave Chris...PLEASE!!!

  • So f*king good...absolutely amazing. And totally agree on his ability as a great vocalist. Tom Morello on the guitar is all fabulous and good, but this gives me the chills.

  • go chris!

  • Always loved this song; this is a brilliant version.

  • Best version of this song I've heard..

  • turn up in a film clip sometime then...?

  • Damn, he can write a song about anything. I need some tips.

  • I think he has a great voice for blues

  • Hes an amazing vocalist. No BS! few out there anymore.

  • i wouId pIace him in the Ieague of robert pIant and ed vedder

  • stoner are you kidding? Eddy Vedder??? Eddy couldnt sniff Cornel old jockstrap.

Eddy sang good on Ten but grunts and mumbles too much and absolutely lacks range...no one can deny that.

Cornel, has got the pipes to sing in a opera im sure.

Listen to TOTD hunger strike and compare Cornel and Vedders voice side by side in that tune. I almost felt bad for Vedder

  • m comparing both during their primes eddy wasnt good in just ten! ive seen corneII doing worse during his bad days, corneII infact became better with time, he used to be often fIat during the starting of the soundgarden days,,, again thats just personaI opinion, to teII you the truth I thought ur kidding when you said eddy vedder Iacks range

  • really , eddie and cornell have different voices, so comparing them is hard

  • Why do people have to always compare singers. Vedder is a fantastic singer. Cornell too. Why did you feel sorry for Vedder.....he sang what he had to do with TOTD perfectly?

  • still to this day, such an amazing song and version

  • perfection----

  • lol not really. its good but nowhere near his 90s voice.

  • What is so amazing about Cornell is that there is so much emotion in his voice. Notice how he sings this song deliberately flat to convey the sadness. He is a good singer in technique but an even greater one in musicianship. Cornell and Scott Weiland are the two rock musicians that stand out to me in this respect, the latter more so for his songwriting.

  • ECOOL76 lenny5..he just wanted to try something he never had before..i guess he doesnt think in terms of musical direction..just as another flavour for him...it's easy to get bored doing same stuff and same way...his decisions proves he's a mature artist and has a distance to himself, still looking for something new...

i'm not into hiphop but timbaland has hughe abbilities as a producer...sorry for bad english anyway regards

  • pity about his new musical direction. Gone from great songs like this to Hip hop influenced garbage..

  • So true lenny5. Ive heard 3 of his new songs and they are pure shit. Ive loved everything in his career:Soundgarden,Audioslave, and his 2 solo cds. Its so hard to believe that he teamed up with that timberland guy.

  • i think he will go back to the rock, he even seems sick of the hiphop shit

  • We can only hope man....

  • @bwsw76 I'm just going to say you're a prophet! And a really good one!

  • @bwsw76 Amen. Soundgarden is back, baby!!

  • this guy own de la roca

and so does audioslave own rage against the machines

  • GREAT SINGER, GREAT GUY

  • zack can't sing, only yell. he isn't even a pimple on Cornell's *ss

  • actually zack can sing very well

  • zack should try and do beyond the wheel... "lolz"

  • you dont like..dont watch..

  • can this be better??

    he's amazin!!!

  • This man is a musical god!!!!!!

  • See Chris, you're ok without Timbaland!

  • lol absogoodgoddamnedlutely

but you know your too nice about the situation.

  • This perfomance never gets old. I would love to have 1/16 of this type of talent.

  • he's definetely the man!!! what a great voice... a great performance... i bet a bad song will be a great song if he sings it..

  • not gonna lie i've been on the STP/weiland train for a few years but cornell definately has my praises... its all about opinion big guy otherwise it makes u look ignorant but this is definately a guy to put in the category. what year was this?

  • cornell is the best vocal out there. period.

  • meu iramo amo esse cara *-*

  • this f*ckin rules. damn his voice is magic..

  • Brandon Boyd? Incubus is alright of a band, but watch them cover Black Hole Sun,that guy is nothing compared to Cornell

  • I want this tab badly.

If anyone has a really good, message me.

    Chris Cornell is BRILLIANT.

  • just look at the chords, they are't difficult

    am, g, em, f

  • I think it's an Em7.

  • right

  • AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

  • God bless you Chris.

  • muy bueno

  • it is about an old man waiting to die. i have also heard it is about layne staley

  • his voice is fkin amazing

  • so much soul!!! you can feel it.

  • my knee hurts :(

  • Not at all. CC's awesome

  • never mind i agree with atticus. In the house of God maybe he longs to be.

  • Maybe someone is dying and he is remembering his love.

  • "A book full of death" (The Bible)

"On my death bed I will pray" (sins forgiven upon your deaht)

"I sat in regret of all the things I've done" (remembering past sins)

"..and there you lead me on" (Christ leading him through Heaven)

It's a song about either being born again or repenting upon your death to find salvation through Christ.

  • uhh.. what about the rest of the song? this isnt a christian song, in the sense ur implying at least

  • The full line is "I will pray to gods and angels", he also mentions praying to pagans. its not about him becoming yet another christfag, he's just praying due to his desperate situation in the narrative of the song. not everything has to be jesus flavoured....

  • it could be jesus flavored tho, we'll never know unless you speak with chris himself

  • did you say "christfag"?. man, thats a bold statement. he is the only way to this heaven he speaks of. that is blasphemy. learn about it, before you make that mistake. don't speak out of ignorance

  • There's nothing bold about it, God does not exist so his imaginary wrath/judgement holds no sway over me. feel free to say "of course he's real, it's all written in this book here.", but frankly you're fooling no one. want religion? that's fine, just don't try to convert every other person, most these days are too enlightened to live in fear of the great and terrible old man in the sky.

  • cool

  • Though I support your point here, you must admit that general matter did not just appear out of nothing--which is in itself something.

We as humans cannot grasp the concept of our creation.

Just go on your way, and be happy while you can.

  • He may be using religous symbolism but not in a positive manner. The same can be said for most of his career. Often as in this case, Cornell presents religion as a desperate and ultimately futile attempt to find peace. If you still think Chris is a jesus nut, then why don't you do some research and look up a song called "Blind dogs" which should leave you with no delusions about his perspectives.

  • I wouldn't say it's negative or futile in any sense.

  • thats a song mainly about Halloween right? didn't realise there were any christian references in it.

  • Ah not really IMO anyway.

    From Blind dogs:

"The safe bet is on your knees

Bow your head to the Trinity

That's what the blind dogs believe"

Doesn't get much clearer than that. There can be little doubt that "on your knees" and the "trinity" refer to christianity.

  • ahhh i think i might have caught the wrong song lyrics.

yup there is suggestion of symbolism there!

  • good comment,,, though not cristianity aIone, but emphasis of any *ity over humanity

  • hey someone can tell what is the meaning of the lyric
