  • Everyone can agree that Arabians are one of the most unique horses, with all their spunk in each step. Not always laid back like them good ol' QHs. Yes?

    Good.

'Cause there are VERY FEW things Arabians canNOT do! They do everythin with their own grace and beauty, and reining shows off their beautiful movements when they run, tail up & all. There ARE those laid back Arabs that can be robust like other breeds, but thats not what Arab riders love about the breed! <3 :) We love their unique style!

  • Beautiful ;o) !!!

  • Yes, I can see how popular Arabian reining is by the packed grand stands. LOL

    I'm just kidding!!

I actually think it deserves more audience. The Arabian is a very athletic versatile breed.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Quarter Horses, but the Arab just brings more elegance to the pick! My I still love the Quarter Horse I rein!

  • I love it!!

    thank you for sharing!

Hoping to achieve this someday with our new horse!

    ;-)

    Arabians are awesome,

    and he is beautiful!!

I had one similiar to him 30 years ago..

    I miss him...

  • My arabian is a reiner and he looks really good. But he is also bigger built. He has Polish or Russian blood and he's 15.3hh. I also have a 5 year old half-arab in reining. Okay sure quarter horses are the reining pick but you have to remember that the Arab is their ancestors. So if you didn't have the Arab you wouldn't have the QH.

  • As gorgeous as this horse is, this is almost painful to watch from a reining standpoint. The whole bouncing through the spins, with no crossover in the front whatsoever, and not getting down on the backend in the slides. Beautiful horse though, but arabians will never come close to touching a good QH or Paint in this sport.

  • @osucowgirl01

You can't judge the potential of an entire breed on the performance of only 2 horses. One of my friends reins with an arab and not only did she get top 10 at Arabian Nationals, she also shows open shows against QHs in which she usually places if not wins.

  • @7flyinghecks Yes, this is something I want to do one day, bucket list. And on an Arabian.

  • Nice to see other breeds reining. Does it really matter, its all about being adaptable. Check out Haflinger Reining in Germany - a Haflinger won a class and looked pretty good to me. I'm English and prefer western disciplines, my New Forset Cross Welsh can do basic reining - we don't set the world on fire but we enjoy it and that's all that counts. Of course, you can't steal a QH's thunder they are built for the job but in my opinion, everyone can have a go at anything :-)

  • ok cyberg00se u fin bitch im a 7 time world NRHA champion ok so i do think my opion is correct ok say you can come with something better then i ride the short bus

  • really because i dont think anyone has done that, in a good minute. Id really like to see you horse, my horse will be showing there this year

  • Sad to see an NRHA champion with absolutley no humility.

  • These horses are awesome at ranch work but to ever go against a qh reiner in my opioion they have little chance BECAUSE they hold there head better.NOW THAT IS MY OPIONION

  • Yes, but you ride the short bus, so sadly for you, your opinion has no merit.

  • I agree with you. Arabians are bred to run miles across a desert not rein!

  • I love this video. Reining is my favorite diciplin to watch and Arabian's are my favorite breed. I think Quarter horses look better at reining but these arabians did really good.

  • YAY! Arabs can and do excel at Western working disciplines; at least the "classic", Egyptian-blood Arabs do. Small, smart, surefooted, strong, and can spin on a dime... Those aren't the same "modern" Arabs you see with their noses in the air in a halter ring; these guys can challenge any QH in real ranch work. Believe me, I know.

  • (Doesn't make them competition for Quarter Horses; different breed and shows and all, but still a great reason to hold up for keeping the old Egyptian and Spanish lines alive in the face of all the tall, skinny, screaming halter Arabs you keep seeing in most Open shows.)

  • Arabian's are cool, I want my next horse to be one. It IS funny seeing them do rening though! I don't know why, they're gorgeous in western pleasure or even working cows. But rening seems funny XD Haha, Arabs are still cool :]

  • not that this isnt a nice horse but if we stared them like quarter horses instead of rail horses, they would gain whole lot more respect in the reining community.

  • By far some of the best Arabian reining ive seen! :p I personally think Quarter Horses do look more natural in reining but you cant beat the way that 1st horse was movin :D

  • I'm going to have to say that Arabians look out of place in reining. Yes, they are georgous in english sports, but western doesnt seem to be their "thing". but there are some good ones, however this isnt a very good example

  • love this! i wish i could afford to go to nationals, my horse and i have at least qualified!

  • I personally am not much of an advocate for Arabs, but this video was ok. Obviously they can do reining, but I still say the QH as a breed can't be outdone..The Arab just looks a little out of place doing this kind of event.

  • I like horse Number 1 better. I don't care what anyone says but the Arabian can do anything other horses can do!! They aren't sassy horses. they are awesome! :D

  • A reiner doesn't have to keep its foot "planted" in a spin. Thats a BIG misconception of reining spins.

  • @g0chaseatree Or maybe the horse likes his right lead more...? Stop judging people/horses you don't even know.

  • the second horse had real nice spins, kept that hoof planted the whole time. What wonderful atheletes!!!!

  • That first horse had a holy halleluia of a last slide!!! great job!!

  • So sad to see the stands almost empty. I think we need more emphasis on this class in the Arabian breed. The focus is so much on halter than we're losing athletic ability. Reining requires a good sound body and mind, and is a truer test of a horse than most other classes.

  • You are right. I am a western trainer specialized in reining. I like to see horse of all breed performing in reining. I have myself a Belgian/QH that do thing that people are stunt with just because I took the time to show him to do it. The riders and horses of that video are stunning. Congratulations to them to have taken the time to do it!

  • Horse #2 was my fav. Well, not fair to say bc it's so easy to watch an Arabian Athlete! AHA & NRHA have made it clear that the Arab Reigning is here to stay!

  • I just wanted to let you know that I own the horse you are talking about saying that he made Crystal look bad and you should probably withhold from saying things like this on a public site. I would appreciate it very much.

  • I;m guessing ashlyd is a QH person??? This horse is absolutely gorgeous! what an athlete-- not only did he perform with the precision I see in other reining videos, he did it with beautiful, look-at-me style!

  • i very much loved your horse.

  • I dont think she meant that, because she said it takes a very special(like a really sucky) horse to make a rider like her look bad. I think thats what she meant...i could be wrong..

  • well i think that she looked good and what in fact did Crystal do wrong??!! yes and u shld not say things like that on line......... go cat!

  • Just goes to show that beautiful athletes are alive and well in the Arabian show world. Great video!

  • i was at the 06 nationals but didn't see this class, personally i like the first horse more
