I doubt Christopher Nolan will cast such a pricey actor when he can get the same performance or better for a fraction of the cost without so much high expectations attached to the actor/actress. Not to mention he may not want to deal with the high demands stipulated in a lot of A-list actors contracts, some may even interfere with his vision for the film, if say for instance there's a minimum amount of screen time devoted to said actors character which needlessly stretches the length etc.

Okay guys, the storyline is INEVITABLE and OBVIOUS. You know how Batman inspired fake Batmans in 'The Dark Kngiht'? Well, The Joker has now inspired sociopaths to turn into criminals. The whole movie will be surrounded by that idea, and it's fucking brilliant. We will see Cat-Woman, Bane, Riddler, Talia al Ghul, and some other characters. Johnny Depp was only rumor that was quickly but to bed when Joseph Gordon-Levitt (plays Arthur in 'Inception') was announced as the Riddler. However this has changed now because they feel that Joseph looks to much like Heath Lerger, RIP. And the Riddler was too similar to the Joker. So Bane has been comfirmed to be the villian In The Dark Knight Rises. And Gordon-Levitt is said to be "possibly" steping in for Lerger as the joker for a later film.
