  • omg i call my cat a monkey too!!

  • Lmao can't wait for my son to get his kitty for christmas (from santa) I'm so gonna get this done!

  • ROFL

  • Karma and Kismet are such good names for brother and sister cats! And the haircut is adorable. =]

  • Bet he was running around the house after his haircut. I knew a cat that became as hyperactive as a kitten after she got a lion cut. Such cuties. Do both of them now sport lion cuts or just Moosey? BTW, how are they doing now?

  • @janeyrevanescence12 Thanks for the great comment. Both of "the kids" are doing fantastic! We do get them both cut now, Moose (Karma) gets his done in the fall, sometime before the winter "static" season. Kismet gets hers less often, she really doesn't mat badly, but has so much hair on her backside that it interferes with her cleanliness sometimes, and then we take her in. She loves it too. It really effects how they feel. They act like kittens when shaved! :-)

  • @ravensky23 you're welcome. Please give them a scratch behind the ears for me, please. How did Karma get his nickname of Moose?

  • @janeyrevanescence12 He is sweet as can be, but a little on the slow side. We started calling them "Moose and Squirrel" (from Rocky and Bullwinkle) when they were young. Kismet, not much of a squirrel, ended up being just "Kissie" but pronounced "Kizzie". And Karma was Moose. He just flops everywhere, is kinda goofy, it just fit him! Guess it musta been karma! LOL ;-)

  • @ravensky23 cute! What is it with male cats and not wanting to get brushed? I had a Himmie and he didn't like his mats being touched to. He looked just like Moosie but he didn't have the white booties. Meanwhile, my Maine Coon female adores being groomed and gets upset when she's not being brushed. Please give them a scratch behind the ears for me?

  • That is one happy little guy!!

  • Thanks for the video...my husband thought I was crazy for thinking of doing a lion cut on our rescue cat....! Our cat- we have had for about a year and half-only got matted this summer because he likes to roll around in water when it's super hot. Then when he dries out, he hair gets staticy as well. So I have started the lion cut, and he is loving it! He likes being petted where shaved. I am doing it in stages because he bites when he gets tired of me messing with him. Thanks again!

  • Mine both get Lion cuts and it does look like they are wearing a onesie paajama when they are done! It's just that their skin isn't attached to their muscles so it bags on cats. Some more than others. Mine get their paws done too though and I noticed that yours doesn't. Did you ask for that or is that the way the groomer just does it? I like the look of the paws shaved., but your cats is adorable!

  • @ciao614 It does depends on which groomer is doing it. In this video it was done at the vets office because ti was his first time and he needed mild sedation. He no longer gets sedated and the regular groomer sometimes shaves the lower legs and sometimes doesn't. I really have no preference, but Karma seems to like the "leg warmers" better. :-)

  • How the hell has that Birmans fur matted like that..? Birmans only have a one layer coat and shouldn't naturally matt. They should only need grooming once a week. Maybe if your cas fur wasn't allowed to be that bad in the first place, your cat wouldnt mind being groomed as I can imagine that can be quite painful. Such a shame to see a Birmans beautiful fur shaved off to create that rediculous look...

  • @KittyJay Sorry you are the type of person so quick to judge. These are not our first Birmans. Our two cats were rescues at six months and had been kept together in a cat carrier for their first months because their owners found out their children were allergic. Karma will not be brushed and groomed anywhere except his ruff, which I groom daily because he loves it. I now have his hair cut twice a year before matts get bad, he loves it! Know your cat!!!!!

  • That's not just a belly flap, that's his baggy jammies :)

  • I've got a Blue Seal Point Birman named Herman. Herman on occasion would get feces on his "backside" fur. Trying to get him cleaned up before he rubbed or sat on something is a challenge, to put it mildly. He just got his own Lion-cut a couple of hours ago and looks so handsome. I know exactly how you feel! I think I'm going to keep him this way to make both our lives easier. Thanks for sharing your video.

  • lol, my Karma would disown me if I shaved him. He takes great pride in his foxy fur. lol, that and he imgines himself the "Sir Karma".

  • how cute! i am going to have this done to my cat tomorrow. she too HATES being groomed and she is 10 years old so i think she will benefit from the lion cut :D

  • There is a wild cat in my neighborhood with this type of cut- He looks fucking scary.

  • he seems to be reaaallly happy with a haircut aweeh hah

  • Sweet! I think the vet did a great job here and the moose is just an adorable boy.

  • I don't think you look after your cat well. You should comb them more often and cut the matted hair as soon as you see any sign of matting.

  • @macalice1 You're an idiot.

See, I made a snap judgment about you based on the 29 words you left on my video. You don't know me, nor my cat based on the 4:24 seconds you watched. I've had many cats over the years, all healthy, well loved and well groomed. This is the first cat who has static and matting problems and will scratch or bite you if you come near him with a comb. He's miserable matted and LOVES it when his hair is short.. Go away and annoy the people in your real life.

  • @ravensky23 You could get him shaved more often before the matting occurs :P Though I assume that's what you did in the future after this video was taken, right? :P I know where you're coming from. I have a cat who gets, uh, "matts" on her butt and I have to wrap her in a tshirt to avoid getting mauled cutting them off. I was looking up more info on a lion cut and your video was helpful, thanks. How long did it take for all the hair to grow back out?

  • @TheSnuzzle Karma does get shaved twice a year now and never gets too matted. he loves it! His sister, Kismet, has the same issues you describe and she gets an abbreviated cut on her backside. The hair grows back completely, and beautifully in 6 months. Winter is Karma's worst season, with dryer air, more static, he gets matted more because he rolls around everywhere! My wiggle monkey! swear he asks for the cut when his hair get long. The vet no longer needs to sedate him to have it done.

  • Now he looks ridiculous being close shaved in places with huge puffs in other spots. I would have shaved him head-to-toe and been done with it. At least that way he wouldn't look so lopsided and would feel even better than he does now.

Weird looking cat like this . . .

  • Ha ha awesome

  • ooohs hes a pretty boy indeed -^^- he appears much happier :3

  • I have to have this done on my persian too - he used to get so distressed when I tried to brush him - he'd hide for days afterwards. He really is so much happier after the cut and mine loves his - after he's been clipped he loves to cuddle - when his hair is long, hes miserable and uncomfrotable and sulks.

Love his belly "flap" - mine has pne too - so cute!

    Your cats are beautiful!

  • did u have to have moose sidated

  • @TheAutumn96 If the matts get too bad and the cat has never been groomed before it is less traumatic for them to have a very light sedation while grooming. Now that he just has it done routinely he no longer needs any sedation. His sister is getting the once a year haircuts now too without sedation. They are much happier kitties :-)

  • @ravensky23 we have a cat that for the first time got matts and shes not the kind that will sit where do u get the sedation at

  • @TheAutumn96 You veteranarian is the only one who can safely sedate. We have our vet do the grooming.

  • What's the point of breeding up cats that are so unnatural that their hair is easily matted, and then giving them a stupid haircut?

No point, except giving bored Americans something to do.

  • this cut looks fantastic because of his specific coloration. i don't think it looks good on cats with patches of random color (sorry i don't know the proper term). i saw a pure white cat with this cut. it caught my interest.

  • As it says on snopes.com

Gas to go to the groomers: $4.50

    Cat car carrier: $32.99

    Grooming fee: $80.00

Getting the look of one seriously pissed of cat: priceless.

  • I think that's such a pretty fur cut.

  • Now I want my long-haired cat to be cut like that too. She also has knots in her fur.

  • he is a pretty boy

  • How Much?

  • omg the same haircut as my cat

  • Rawr!

  • 1:30 hahahhahhaahha lmao!! heheheh XD

  • My cat, he too have matts, he goes for shave on Thursday which will be better for him

  • Looks bad, sorry. I have a ragdoll with very long hair. She rolls about on the floor, but she never gets matted.

  • I just got a little birman kitty. He still has is fluffy thin kitty hair but if he manages to end up a ball of mats when he's older I'd definitely consider a lion cut. I know my parents 2 spoodles love a good haircut so I can't see how it'd be much different for cats.

Your two are just gorgeous. I hope my little man is as handsome as karma when he's all grown up. I uploaded a vid of his first supervised outdoor adventure yesterday. Feel free to check it out n let me know what you think :D.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • your cats have great names. :D how did you think of them?

  • Congrats on the sweetness you give your cat. So many people are "against" shaving cats for whatever reason but you like said, he seemed happier right? My cat's the same way, I just posted a video of him if you want to see. I also have a Ragdoll (very similar to the Birmans) that I intend to have saved. I KNOW what you mean about the knots and hating of grooming, and he is 21 pounds and it's just too hot in florida for that mess, he also has problems with static actually. Your Moose is adorable.

  • I'm creeped out by the haircut, sorry. If it were me, I'd be cold.

  • i have a long hair cat, i wanned to know how much does it cost to get a lion cut?

  • so cuttte! lol x)

  • Comment removed

  • dyou think this kind of cut would look good on a DOG? I've got 17 chow chows at home and I have to groom them every 3 days!!!!!

  • I just cut my Persian cat's hair. and my neighbor got angry at me because she said that his hair won't grow back the same is this true?

  • That's not true. My husband had a Persian who got shaved and, of course we now have the Birmans. The hair takes a while to grow back completely, about 8 months for the Birman, longer for the Persion, but the hair is longer on them. We just had it done again a year later because he was all matted again. I think we'll have it done every 6 months from now on. He's a MUCH happier boy!

  • what breed is your cat? I have the same exact cat but I don't know what her breed is called.

  • @jim8699 Not true. My cat is Persian and he gets cut yearly. It always grows back exactly the same.

  • @jim8699 we groom out cat every 4 to 6 months.. their hair definitely grows back... we do it for allergy reasons....either shave the cat or get rid of it...

  • @jim8699 I used to have a furry chihuahua, I cut his hair and never grew the way it was :(

  • Seeing that this was posted more than a year ago, his hair grew back, right? And did you have to cut it again, ?

  • Yes, it grew back completely in about 8 months and even with daily brushings (which he HATES) he is matted up badly again and is going TODAY to get shaved into a lion cut. He is SO much happier after he is shaved, he feels like the Lion King! LOL He is simply the most static cat. he rolls around the floor and then up against your leg and you get shocked. None of my other cats are like that, even his sister! I swear if he didn't weigh 18 lbs you could stick him on the ceiling like a balloon! LOL

  • @ravensky23 LOL,

    Well he IS cute.

So, I hope all goes well during the shaving! ^_^

  • You should have heaqrd him yowling in the cat carrier on the way to the groomers. One would have thought he was being murdered! LOL Pick him up at 3pm and he'll be gorgeous again. Hubby and I just dicussed doing this twice a year so he doesn't get so matted. "Dreadlocks' can't be very comfy!

  • Ah, I know what you mean! My cats do that, EVERYTIME! It's like they're going to die. And it's just heart breaking to hear them, one of my cats once peed himself, on the way to the vet. I'm considering getting my cat a Lion Cut. And seeing that you're cats like it, and they look SO CUTE, in it may I add.

  • he had dreads! lol x)

  • I also have Birmans. Watch my vids to see how cute. My boy has a ton of coat but I've combed them almost daily since they were just babies so they love it. I debated on clipping them this past summer just to keep them cool but decided against it. I prefer the full coat but to each their own. PS he's a very handsome lad!

  • ur cats are sooo pretty!!

  • my cat is the same why and she wouldnt let me touch them or any thing so she is getting a lion cut tomarrow

  • i had sissors in my room and my lil sister cut my cat like that except worser looking

  • His back legs look really cute lol

  • Wow, if he won't let you brush him, you gotta. Now, when he rubs against all the corners will he leave more oil than when his fur was in the way? It does look kinda cool though.

  • Deb! He is adorable!! What a great hair cut..the Lion King lives!!!

    Have a great day!!!

  • moose is the man, he is so adorable with that cut!

framboise gets all messy at times but she would claw my eyes out if i shaved her so i cut out the snarles. her daughter, talula, used to let me shave her. she had a mohawk most of the time :)

    xoexo

  • Hi Eden! Normally I can cut the mats out of his fur, but in the space of less than a month these became uncuttable. Too close to the skin for even my bandage cutting shears to do the job. Every time we would saw a board while working on the house he would be in the sawdust before we could even sweep it up! Such a naughty boy! ;-) I would love to have seen Talula's mowhawk! How punk! ((((hugs))))

  • ill try to figure out orions computer so as i can get the pics of talula off of them. also lots of her and her siblings, they are so cute together! seamous mom is one of the sugar pies that adopted some of my grand babies :)

    xoexo

  • He looks so handsome as a Lion!

I think it was a fabulous idea to have his hair cut as he must have hated having those mats and if he hated being brushed then this is the answer!

I think Kismet is very pretty too :-)

  • Thanks, Twish, I think he looks very chic. ;-) Kismet is such a good girl allowing me to groom her every day. If this is what it takes to keep Karma mat free then that's the ticket. I hope next time the vet can do it without anesthetic. That was the only part I was afraid of because of the inherent risks associated with it. But with the matting it is the only way the vet would allow it since the skin is so sensitive and if he would jerk away he could be cut badly. Not worth the danger.

  • I believe that boy could help you with dusting... that tail could reach underneath low furniture, clean out the dryer vent or under the refrigerator. !!!

  • Hi Cathy! He does help in the dusting, but I'd rather he wouldn't! Every time he rolls around or rubs against something the static draws the dust in and makes the mats worse. Of course then he won't allow the brushing out, so the problem is compounded. This haircut seems to be the answer. He actually likes his ruff brushed now that I don't touch his body. ;-)

  • He is one beautiful cat WITH or WITHOUT hair. It must be a pain with him getting matted all the time. I actually thought the lion cut was really cute!! LOL He seemed to prance!!

  • Thanks, Judy, he really feels so much better. You can tell that he is relived to have the mats gone. The other two cats don't even act like he looks different at all. It's amazing that he and his sister are litter-mates and so different in the grooming department. She will lie for an hour and let me brush her. But not him!
