Great game but the intro is SOOOOO cheesy. That's why I think it would make a good fodder for a miniseries or 70s/80s sci-fi movie parody. Hollywood's forgotten what effects-driven sci-fi is supposed to look like.

This is one of the best strategy game I have played. The Sound and music track where so nice, I wish EVE online had similar sounds and music tracks like M.A.X had. And would be really nice to see some machines moving in and out of the spaceships and space stations in EVE, for eyecandy :) great to see this video again!

M.A.X. is the reason why I repaired my old PC. I prefer Real-Time, but this is the best Turn-Based I have seen. Its 'simultaneous turn-based' mode was confused with real-time. Music has a dark militaristic feel which helps you concentrate, and factory/gunfire/explosions sounds are superior to more recent Starcraft/Total Annihilation. Its not for everyone, since its complex/time consuming. But there are many options. There are short skirmishes available, but beware, it has been compared to Chess.

It truly is a classic, and I have been played since young age. I played the demo when I was like 12-14 -years old. I found it no complex, but versatile. It has many elements and features that should be in nowaday's strategy games. Seriously, it's hard to find game which would emphasise the terms "strategy" and "tactics" this well.

Too bad it's not online.... I've heard some fans are building one though.

You know GOG.com sells an updated version of this and MAX2 (As bad as the sequel was) that work with Windows Vista and 7 for 6 bucks right? I found it too good to be true, but sure enough, it works.

The music was and still is extremely mood-setting. M.A.X is one of the few turn-based games i was completly hooked on in the 90's.
