I think Appalachian State should move to Division I-A and join a conference like the SEC or the Big East. Just don't lose to teams like Wofford once you do or you'll end up being made fun of the way Michigan has this year.

I know the Wofford loss was a conference loss right now, but if you'd move up to Division 1-A, which you should, you'd have a lot more expected out of you.

You'll probably be the team that surprises everyone. I remember when South Florida moved up to Division 1-A and played the 2005 Penn State everyone thought it would be a blowout in PSU's favor, but Penn State only won 23-13.

To a point, that's true. I can see NAIA schools upsetting Div III schools, Div III upsetting Div II, and so on. But I don't think an NAIA school would beat a Division I-A or I-AA team because of the simple reason that NAIA schools have a smaller selection of football players than Div I schools do.

But there are some schools that have shocked a Division above them, like Gardner-Webb beating Kentucky.

I'm thinking with stadium expansion they could be in the SEC or ACC. Appalachian State is too good for the MAC, but to be truthful, it may take 5 years before you'll be competing on the same level as teams like Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Arizona, and LSU.

Everything can be generalized as something weak like that if you try to pessimistically summarize it. If you understand the mechanics of the game you will see something with alot more depth. Watching a team match up personnel using different packages and trying to create mismatches or leverage for their team is what makes the sport phenomenal. Football in general is a thinking mans game from front office to the field and it has some of the worlds best athletes to boot.
