I dig your lessons. I have your blues DVD learned a lot of it yesterday. The NLG lessons are the best on the 'Tube'. your camera-work and presentation is top-level, the continual new additions keep me strummin' and avoid any 'ruts' in my journey.
Thanks
p.s. do you guys have a basic review of the minor blues pentatonic on your site??
My take on the acoustic vs electric for a beginner is to go with whichever sounds better to your ears and feels better in your hands. It's crucial for an absolute beginner to enjoy their guitar journey from the very start because it's the time where most people give up. An instrument that sounds good to the player and brings them pleasure is the best way to get them hooked. Once your hooked then you'll probably end up owning at least one acoustic and electric and then the problem is solved.
hi. i like how you play the guitar, and i would like to know how do you use your index finger, when you want to make a note like F and all of the notes that you have to use your index finger to push all the cords (silence them) thank you... I hope you would understand me
do you mean barre chords? if so, you shouldn't be muting the strings with your index finger, you should actually be fretting all of the strings on that fret. your index finger should be in a position so as it is possible to cleanly fret all strings on the required fret. dunno if that helps or if it is even what you asked
Regarding the Acoustic / Electric question. I have been playing for 40 years. I use the acoustic to learn anything new (yes I am still learning, Guitar is a life long commitment). I also use an Acoustic to practice tough stuff. Then I slam it out on the electric. Acoustic is my favorite.
if ur just starting i would say an acoustic....to play the acoustic u have to be perfect, u cant just slap on some disortion on ur electric to cover up mistakes. u should learn acoustic first then will be able to go straight to electric no probs but the other way around wont work
well, when I first started playin, I bought an elecrtic guitar pack for 100$.It gave me an electric guitar and a practice amp.
Or you can buy an acoustic guitar for 20$ or more.
Still I was more into rock on roll and thats why i bought an electric
If you like to play very versatile styles of music buy an electric. If you want to play chords and stuff buy an acoustic. I tell you to go for a cheap electric first.
it would be easier to learn on the electric because the fretboard is smaller and this will help you to learn the bar chords more easily but having an Electric guitar would cost more because of an amp. i would say Electric but if you like how an acoustic guitar sounds go buy a Acoustic guitar.
get an acoustic first. thats what i did, and lookin back i'm glad i made that choice. i'm into a lot of of rock n roll and love playin the electric, but by buying an acoustic you will harden your fingers up more so than you will on an electric, and this way you'll ensure that when you eventually buy your first electric the callouses on your fingers will have hardened up to the extent that your fingers are more than capable of playing for a long time

definitely start w/an acoustic. no question. electric will seem like a breeze once you have first learned the fundamentals/chords on an acoustic. i have been a drummer for about 23 yrs. but have only been playing guitar for about 8 or 9 yrs. and i started w/an acoustic. the transition from acoustic to electric is much smoother. after you have achieved some accomplishment on the acoustic, pick up an electric...and you will be like, "wow!".
Definitely acoustic. I think that starting out with the acoustic will give you a much broader angle of approach when learning guitar, plus it makes learning chords and the like much more enjoyable, since you're getting the sound you need.
You are beautiful :_))

Lot's of Rock and Roll is played on acoustics.
In the early days of rock, hollow body electrics ruled.
What songs do you want to play? What styles do you like?

i agree with gamer15matt...i started out on a cheap classical, and then moved onto leccy
