There's a new tv show on in Norway called "Love sikh" where a 26 year old Sikh from Oslo travels around to try and find a wife.. It's pretty funny. It made me want to find out more about Sikhism, its really one religion I know nothing about! Great vid:-)

The Sikhs are cool. It always makes me kinda sad so few Americans know about them. I made a reference about Sikhism at work the other day and everyone just looked blankly at me. Unfortunately people here don't bother learning much outside of their own religion and if they do they stick to Islam, Christianity and Judaism and forget the other interesting religions out there. I think one should always try to understand others better.
@trueinar I suggest you talk to regular sikh guys, then you will know how much they know about other religions and cultures. I notice in my area, sikhs do a lot for their own community but they don't contribute whole lot to society.

Sikhism is a way of living born out of love for fellow humans brothers and sisters alike however we do not claim superiority over any one religion "Ik omkar"meaning god is one. Our history is short only 300+ yrs but Sikhism has flourished throughout history we oppose those claiming superiority over another and is why in our short history we've been bread into warriors of the Khalsa panth.

i believe that you have a lot of valid information, and i do like that. However, you also have some invalid points, I'm pretty sure that Sikhism did not take elements from any other religion. there may be some similarities of certain aspects but its not the same. Also, when you talk about the Kirpan, you mention that it's a knife, which it is, but you make it sound like we, as a religion are violent...

Sikhs were basically warriors who fought for the rights of one religion against another religion trying to convert ppl to their faith forcefully.Basic duty of a Sikh is to protect anyone who needs help.Over time it became an established religion.5ks were the need of time for identification of one being of Sikh community.Fanatics made it compulsory.Duty was to protect all religions but today its the other way around.Today even caste-ism has crept very deeply and Sikhs seem to have lost the way.

The Sikhs are cool. It always makes me kinda sad so few Americans know about them. I made a reference about Sikhism at work the other day and everyone just looked blankly at me. Unfortunately people here don't bother learning much outside of their own religion and if they do they stick to Islam, Christianity and Judaism and forget the other interesting religions out there. I think one should always try to understand others better.

hey wingwaabuddha i have to correct you on a detail is that Sikh ppl (male) must always keep there beard and hair (ik you said about the hair). Also for little more info on Sikhism we do not eat any meat including egg and fish, no alcool no tobacoo or any drugs. p.s i like that you want to know and inform ppl about Sikhism and if you want to know more in dept about r religion go to India at r holy shrines(Gurudawar)in Punjab.

and 95% of the population dont know about sikh and am trying to support my religion by explaining my religion to everybody that know dont about it and am really happy that you made this video. But i really suggest you to go to India(Punjab) if your interrested in r religion.and for the wws we boosted the indian army from 189,000 at the start of the war to over 2.5 million at the end of the war. ;3

@wingwaabuddha Actualluy, sikhs can eat meat and fish and eggs. Only amritdhari; strict sikhs, do this.

@chetstar1999 there is no rule against amritdharis not being allowed to eat meat - the meat must not be halal or kosher.

@superflexist Actually its you that is wrongs and its you that needs to go and learn the religion. Amritdharis are allowed to eat meat only if it is slaughtered by Jhatka (swift, single stroke) not halal or kosher. Go and look it up.
