  • what board is that?

  • @shredtilldeatham Burton Easy Living

  • This helped me alot, thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • how big is that jump?

  • @followdawayys It's about 30 feet. M/L table in the Whistler park

  • @snowboardaddiction elle est en version francaise

  • Hey! allways when i jump these big jumps i land in a strange way.. it hurts in my knees so bad when i land.. PLEASE HELP!

  • @snowgalet not an expert but you should try to land just slightly on the back of you board so the flexing of your board will absorb the shock- or the landing that your going down isn't steep enough.

  • @followdawayys okey.. thank's man! but i can't try it out just now.. :( but I'm afraid I stretched my meniscus when I tried last time.. :/ but thank's anyway! real help there!

  • i can easily do fs 360s and 180s and my platform and pop i pritty strong, but i still can't get the frontside 5. I just end up on my a**hole... any tips?

  • @TheVikingShredder Make sure that as you finish the rotation and come into the landing you point your back hand (which is now your front) straight down the landing to pull your weight forward and land centred. Hope that helps!

  • @snowboardaddiction thanks for the quick reply! :)

  • the split at 6:30 is the most helpful thing i've ever seen. Good work!

  • @jartista Glad that helps!

  • how do i do the pre-load if i have a narrow jump

  • @mrpatar8 The set up carve happens on the in run as you approach the jump so that you are able to ride up the lip on the appropriate edge to do your spin. The set up carve should allow you to ride up the jump straight so a narrow jump won't be too much of an issue. Good luck!

  • I would really like to know how you like the Burton Easy livin that your riding because Im in the market for a new board and would like to buy it. I just need a review from a reliable source.

  • @Bullskeetskeet The Easy Livin is an awesome board for sure! I just recently switched over the the Mr Nice guy though and it has replaced the Easy Livin as my all time favourite. I'd recommend talking to your local shop to see if you can get out on a demo and see which one you prefer. Both are fun boards for sure! I would say the Easy Livin is a bit more aggressive and the Mr Nice guy is a bit more playful, but you can definitely ride anything on either one.

  • Northstar?

  • great tutorial! i'm hopin to land a 7 this year... for 3's and 5's i've been ollying and i do kinda wobble in the air. i'll take your advice and try jumping with both feet evenly.

any advice for bigger jumps where u gotta pick up a lot of speed? or is it pretty much the same idea?

  • @jaredmt Pretty much the same idea, just make sure you hit jumps that progressively get bigger. Don't skip from the 20 footers to the 60 footers! Try to hit some 30, 40 and 50 foot jumps in between!

  • I had one last year... now i can't get it back because i just think about it too much and do it sloppy... what should i do?

  • @snowburton25 Try and relearn them on some side hits so you can get the motion back. Side hits will let you approach on the appropriate edge so you won't have to think about the set up carve. After you have them dialed on the side hits again head back to the straight jumps and work on that set up carve!

  • @snowboardaddiction I can easily spin 180's but when I try a 360 I just overthink it and do a sloppy 180. Also if i get the rotation my nose dips and my board gets ahead of me which makes be not land it.

  • @CR6fbs It sounds to me like you are having trouble keeping your upper and lower body connect when you spin, keep your core strong and try not to "huck" your spin. Approach with a smooth set up carve (as outlined in the video) and try to keep your shoulders level as you turn into your spin. You can bring the 360 around by making sure your back arm completes the 360 and points back up the hill. Good luck!

  • Thanks man. You're the best. :D !

  • Hey there I love SA great vids. My question is when i spin 3's the only problem i have is the landing. I continue to spin instead of just stomping it and ride off. How can i fix this its making me go crazy.

  • just started snowboarding and haven't realy had time to try spinns on ramps. i'm gonna in about a week and i need some more help than you gave

at the takeoff, how do you make sure you dont, for example, put your toes too far down to get the spin on a front side and fall foreward?

  • @MatteRyd Ideally, you don't want to start spinning until your board leaves the lip, your board leaving the lip straight will ensure that you don't catch your toes on take off. performing a setup carve, as described in the video will also make sure that you are on your correct edge when leaving the lip, raising your leading edge of the snow. Hope that helps!

  • Hi I'm 5'10 and 185-190 pounds what size board would be best for me to learn spins on?

  • @nickstra2008 probably a 153

  • @nickstra2008 What board works best for you comes down mostly to preference. I am 5'9" and 160 pounds and I primarily ride a board in the 156/158 range but I know many riders the same height/weight as me that prefer a 152/154. Contrary to common belief, a smaller board won't necessarily make spinning easier, although the swing weight of your board is lower, you have less edge to initiate your spin from. My recommendation is to demo a couple boards from your local shop before you make a decision.

  • @nickstra2008 160

  • what size board r u riding?

  • @nickstra2008 Usually a 154 - 156

  • its feels like I'm watching a video game

  • I wanna kno witch is better to spin front side or back side and toe side or heel side?

  • @mole1717 It's most natural for people to spin frontside off their heels and backside off their toes, although you will see some riders mix it up and spin off their unnatural edge. Which one is 'better' is all a matter of personal preference, both frontside and backside look awesome if you do them with style. Learn what's most natural to you first and then mix it up!

  • This vid really helps dude! Keep um goin

  • did they just mirror the other video? Lol.

  • @pand3micdrums Guilty! It actually takes a lot of work to film/edit these vids, mirroring it is the easiest way to keep both regular and goofy riders happy. Nice catch though.

  • i can land 360s but now i'm trying 5s.. roughly how big is the jump in your tutorial and do you have any tips

  • @lovejessica531 Most of the jumps in this video are in the 20 - 30 foot range. You don't need a huge jump to bring your 540 around so try your first 540's on a jump you're already really comfortable doing 360's on first, or even go back to hitting side hits. Stay relaxed on your in run and try to avoid pre-spinning. Good luck!

  • @snowboardaddiction alright, thanks for the advice and keep making these great vids!

  • just a tip at 4:13-4:17 when he says spinning front side from your toes is common, that is total bullshit, if you frontside off your toes its called an allie oop and you have to pop more and angle yourself a lil bit more in the air and its a hell of alot hard and its not a common spin, so just a heads up

  • Is it easier to start off with frontside or backside 3's?

  • @GinAndCream It's hard to describe one as being easier or more difficult as it varies for each rider. Just as some people rider regular and some goofy, some people find frontside easier while other prefer backside. My recommendation to you would be to start with the direction that you are already the most comfortable doing 180's. Good luck!

  • Been trying many times 360 but uasually can't get over the 180, my rotation just blocks. Still trying to find out why this happenes. If anyone has any good tips to keep rotating over the 180 please tell. (frontside)

  • @GibsonMusicMan Probably your shoulders. When your spinning you might open your shoulders before you can get to the 360 also keep your head turned to the way you want to spin and bring it all back when your about 3-4 feet about the ground.

  • @LeggoEggoNinja Gonna try, thanks

  • when i try front 3's I cant spin all the way even though I spin my body as hard as I can

  • @pytn1998 With snowboarding sometimes less is more! Put less emphasis on 'hucking' your spin as hard as you can and focus more on the set up carve and pop. Make sure you keep your core tight as you initiate the spin, when you 'huck' a spin too hard sometimes your upper and lower body becomes detached and the energy you put into your rotation doesn't carry through from your upper to lower body. Spin some 360's on the snow to get the feeling of rotating while keeping your core tight. Cheers!

  • looks awesome, super helpful! Do you guys/will you guys have any videos about corking spins?

  • @colinst14 In the works! We just released a tutorial on backflips so check out our website.

  • I've developed the habit of pre-spinning way too much. Sometimes I even spin a full 180 before I leave the lip of the jump. This kills my speed and doesn't look good at all. What should I do to stop this?

  • @DerekJDignan When this happens its a good idea to take a step back and try some side hits again and do some good, solid feeling 180's to get the feeling of popping properly back. When you get back to doing your 360 take a deep breath and relax, focus on timing your setup carve properly to approach the jump. Your set up carve shouldn't be any different for your 180 and 360 so you can warm up on any jump with some 180's first. Hope that helps!

  • I've developed a habit of pre-spinning way too much. I usually spin more than 90 degrees before I even leave the lip of the jump. What can I do to solve this?

  • thank because of this vid i landed me first 540 bs on my 3rd time snowboarding

  • @tlchealy Atta boy!

  • nice! man, ur good at explaining tricks. nice vid

  • Are you using union contact pro bindings? If so how are they?

  • @snowboardaddiction i need some help please....here in romania we have small parks, and the cickers(jump) ar made a bit short and tall, i call them 'popy', my problem is when i hit a spin my board and me spin at the same angle as the cicker, and i allways land on the my tail...how can i change my angle in the air ? hope you can help me..thanks !:)

  • @freshmakerr lean into the landing (down hill) more so than you are doing if you are falling backwards you must be leaning back, you should focus on centering your weight over your board and if the take off is steep (popy) lean over your front foot more to ensure your body goes off the jump not just your board

  • Comment removed

  • i can pop 1's but not 3's, this will really help. Thanks!!!

  • how do you know the amount of spin you need for 3s?

  • @MrMiles123 The feeling will come as you work you're way through the fundamentals before trying this trick. Getting the feeling for 180's, and 360's off of side hit jumps will make doing your first 360 off a park jump much easier. Always work towards new tricks in stages, don't skip the basics before you get there as they are the foundation. Hope that helps!

  • @snowboardaddiction ahaha thanks omg im kind of scared about being too little spin or too much spin

  • @twthomas214 thats why you have to make sure your nose is pointing toward the landing by the time you take off the lip of the jump. the whole turning thing is just helping initiate the spin:D

  • my heel sides are confusing. so when riding up the platform (i'm goofy) to do a frontside, i should be on my heels the entire time, going from L to R on my way up, and then spin to the Right? i feel like i would jump to much to the Right and fall off the side of the landing

  • @twthomas214 Go straight off the jump, just right as your about to go off the lip, spin your legs and shoulders don't carve

  • What board does he ride in this vid?

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome vid. Helped me a ton, just landed my first 3 cuz of u man

  • link to part 2 not working

  • Great tutorial!

  • your sick dude!!!!! you can do 7ns on regular and goofy:) im amazed

  • This is the best tutorial ever!

  • is their a trick to getiing a grab in while spinng cuz i can 7 but i cant grab while i do it for the life of me

  • what's the music?

  • i can 360 no problem jumps flat whatever they are simple for me. but for some reason i can not keep spinning whatsoever

  • very nice vid! helped me a lot! thx :)

  • Very nice video 100 points ;)

  • hey thanks bro really great vid. going to okemo tomorrow so i hope to try it out!

  • i can already throw 3's and 5's, but they're sloppy, this makes helps a lot! i was setting up too early and going faster, so i would clear the nuckle fine, but land way off to one side more than i would've liked. THANKS!

  • It's better to learn from the beginning to spin without popping off the jump. When you graduate to big jumps, you are travelling too fast to pop without throwing yourself off balance.

  • RAW

  • random question but whats ur accent? like scotish or sum shit?

  • When I leave off my heel edge on frontside 3's I lean back for some reason instead of staying vertical. What do I need to do so I'm not always leaning back and landing on my ass?

  • @spencereng make sure you stand up and pop tall off the lip. Avoid initiating your spin by pulling your front arm back (it will make you lean back off the lip). Instead keep your weight centred by pushing your weight forward initiating the spin with your back shoulder and bringing your arm towards the nose of your board. Hope that helps!

  • @snowboardaddiction For all spinning do we always initiating the spin with our back shoulder? (.e.g. 3,5,7,9,10?) Also what trick's would we use initiating the front arm if any?

    Thanks in advance =)

  • @wktm125sx in my opinion, when you're doing it frontside, it's the easiest way to grab an frontside grad (e.g. "indy"), and when doing it backside, either a mute or a bs grab. I think it's the most natural and easiest way (and also not interfering with your rotation) to grab with your back arm... if you start your rotation with your back shoulder and you have to rotate it towards the front,

  • @wktm125sx your back shoulder and therefore your back arm will naturally be closest to the edges. At least that's the way I do it, so I hope that helps ;)

  • @XarchetypeX Thanks Dude , I appreciate all the help.

  • @snowboardaddiction should be also initiate backside spins with our back arm/shoulder? thanks so much, just bought the program

  • @snowboardaddiction when releasing your already winded core, should your arms spin horizontal according to the kicker of a big air ? i seem to have trouble grasping this concept because i dont see how spinning the way i described allows for a clean landing

  • @therisingshallfall I think you're asking if the plane of rotation of your arms/shoulders spin parrelel to the kick of the jump or not. There is some room for variation with this on bigger spins, but for a 360 you want to spin level in your air. As you pop off the jump, you want your spin to be initiated parallel to the horizon, as opposed to the lip. If you do a 360 while spinning parallel to the lip, chances are you'll land hard in the back seat. Hope that helps!

  • @snowboardaddiction really helps thanks alot

  • @spencereng when your comign into the jump try carving a little bit furtehr b4 u leave off the jump some people call it buttering lol :P

  • your os gay -.- i hate you naah I'm kidding i love ya videos :D

  • wow this is the BEST how to spin on a snowboard -vid i´ve ever seen! im sure this will help me to clear the spin trick much eazier then i tried to do them earlier. thanks man!

  • @thedzoukka1 Thanks! Good luck.

  • any tips to stay flat throughout the takeoff and landing? i find when i try to spin frontside i lean back too much and usually land on my hands and knees

  • @tartarsaucin Leaning back on Frontside spins is common when people learn them as it is easy to pull your weigh back with your front arm as you initiate the spin. try to leave the lip and spin flatter by pushing your back hand forward (keeping your shoulders level) instead of opening your front shoulder and looking over it (bringing the weight back off the lip). Hope that helps!

  • @snowboardaddiction love the comment! Im still trying to work on the same thing..I learned front threes this at the end of last season and this comment made me realize a few things that i could easily improve! Great description

  • @NorthernLightPros Glad it helped!

  • indeed, best videos on learning snowboardtricks out there!

  • Apparently 15 People Failed Attempting This :D

  • 720 likes lol

  • do you guys think the new 2012 burton blunt is a good board to learn these newbie spins on. its fairly flexible from what i hear (btw my parents got that for me for xmas so dont recommend another board haha)

  • @dhsnowbordlife7 Yes, to be honest, and I don't mean this in a harsh way, the quality of the board doesn't make too much difference with these more basic tricks, any Burton board will be good quality so yeah be fine to learn with.

  • This is NO DOUBT the BEST how to video I've seen so far :) PROPS to you guys!

  • @snowboardaddiction how do you exit the lip of the jump? should u pre spin with your arms to help excelerate your body? or can you do all of it with your edges

  • oh my god i cant wait for winter

  • last time i 360'd i didnt pass the knuckle! And my ankles and right leg were messed up for almost a month!

  • Great how to vid! Cant wait to try it in this season! Hopefully I will make it.. I can only do a 180 so.. wish me luck:D

  • just wondering ive seen so many snowboard vids but barely any of the snowboarders wear helmts

  • yeah northstar is the bomb!!!! home mountain pretty beast

used to work there best place EVER!!!!!

  • fs off your toes is wayyy more fun

  • Can't wait to try it this winter! :3

  • i stand with my right foot at the front, but when i am doing spins i have to ride with the left foot first. i dont know why, but i just find it way more easy. it has always been like that for me.

    is that normal or what?

  • What's harder frontside or backside?

  • @iDuBBzHD Whether FS or BS is easier is a matter of opinion and is argued about constantly. Mostly it comes down to preference. Some riders find it easier to spin Backside because they get to take off on their toe edge and land facing downhill while others find it easier to Spin FS as they get to see the landing early as they take off. Practice both on side hits and you will find what works best for you!

  • @snowboardaddiction iight thanks man

  • @iDuBBzHD a lot of times it change from one person to the other try both is the best way to see wich is easier for you. for me i better like backside because i can see the landing before landing, but it is always a matther of opinion

  • i can do 3s but i have trouble doing 180s? someone explain??

  • @mrhattttttt need to perfect ur goofie ridin, i hv the sme problem ;)

  • @RegularBoarder2525 Let us know! We love to hear customer feedback, if you have any suggestions for new content as well, feel free to post here!

  • @snowboardaddiction i watched this last season, it was my first season riding park, and by the end of the season i had 7s. This helped a lot!

  • Your so clean in your spinning, I've been riding for 4 years and I'm no where close to your degree of chill, clean, straight spins! props man! and this is a great how to! brought me to 3's and 5's in one season!

  • @DavidTLafrance Glad our tips helped and thanks for the props! Lots of new content coming out this season so stay tuned.

  • @snowboardaddiction Hey guyz what happend to that butter video that was like 8:00 minuted? its was amazing and was now removed plz tell me how too see it again it was on for like 2 hours and was turned to private plz respond thx c:

  • @snowboardaddiction i have a pretty big question for you today: When taking off a big air, you say to spin your arms shoulders etc, horizontaly, did you mean horizontal to the flat ground or horizontal to the angle of the kicker itself ?

  • LOL i think its funny how these are the exact same videos for regular and goofy just mirrored.

  • snowboard club in 3 months

  • this is how a HOW TO VIDEO SHOULD be much props good vid keep the knowledge comin

  • @argentina420 Thanks! We have a lot of new content coming out this year! 2 new videos released already in the subscribers area!

  • Never knew about setting up before this vid. Now I do spins!!!

  • @ttekcebc Nice!

  • @ttekcebc Glad it helped!

  • wheres this at? city and state please and name of mountain

  • @superbowlchamp08 This is filmed at Northstar at Tahoe in California. It is about an hour drive from Reno Nevada.

  • Your other get-up looked alot better xD just saying :P

  • Like a kazakastonian once said "VERry NiCE

  • Thank you soo much i learned spinn' 3s in 1 day thanks to you guys!! :D

  • Just watch this video a few days ago, landed my first spins ever. Now I can do double cork frontside 1080's. Thanks bro

  • @heffenuts Wait... your saying you watched this video a few days ago and now you can do double corks??? No way. It takes a lot more than a few days to learn flatspin 7's let alone inverting 10's. Im calling bs.

  • @bsrkoacar agree, bullshit alarm

  • How is this helpful to anyone?! All you do is spin!!! Its 95% mental, so quit stalling and gtfo there

  • @Rexem96 lol yeah really you just need to get the balls to commit to the rotation

  • OMG it make so much sense now!

  • seriously the best informational video ive ever seen

  • @NoobPeriod

It is good but note that you do NOT have to take the large setup if you are already aggressive and successful with it. Note JAMIE LYNN. it just makes it more effortless. It does help with the bigger jumps.

  • 12 people are GOOFYES

  • its not often you get a good tutorial with some good music to back it up. nice work

  • because of this vid i have become so confident in spinning 3's and 5's that i am entering a boardin comp in 44hrs

  • is it easier to do a frontside or a backside as a regular driver?

  • So much better than Expert Village. Thanks for actually putting some thought into this video.
