I grew up with Evel Knievel. He's another lost American hero....like John Wayne; people who are a breed all their own. What a lot of people don't realize is that he wasn't doing these jumps on a modern enduro style motorcycle with a great power to weight ratio and long travel, he was doing them on a Harley-Davidson! AMAZING!!!
Very nice! Please check out a video I slapped together: Bottom Muscle Bike. As a kid growing up in the 70's Evel was our hero. Thank God we only had bikes instead of motorcycles!
Evel Knievel. See it's exentric behavior like his that made America a great kick ass country. Too bad Americans turned into a bunch of fat cowards. Well the average American anyway.
i thank him for every crazy thing hes done on a motorcycle he is the one that started jumpin motorcycles if it wasnt for him i dnt know where we would be wit motorcross freestyle and more RIP evil
I just found out and I'm crushed. Like most my age he was my childhood hero.I used to take my E.K. toys everywhere I went. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten!
what a wonderful tribute! I also went to his funeral yesterday! And Was happy to celebrate his life and all he did! I grew up in Butte, Montana in the 70's he was my hero, I remember going past his house every Christmas to see the santa on the motorcycle! He was a big part of my childhood and am glad he is riding the in the heavens above and not in pain anymore!
Thanx for having one of the first tributes! Even with all the freestyle jumpers and crazy guys out there, there will -NEVER- EVER- be another Evel Knievel!! I'm sure I speak for a "ton" of riders out there when I say he was my "Hero" as a kid, and the reason I started trying to jump my mini-bike farther and farther as a kid with dreams of fans cheering for me!! I'm sure many of you riders shared that dream!!! R.I.P Evel Knievel

I saw most of his jumps growing up. I'm now 50 and there's a little something missing from life and television today. People like him I think.
