I can buy that. However, a good jiu jitsu practitioner will usually get to the ground in lightning quick fashion, where he will spoon you until you pass out.
We must realize that the average guy knows more now and that one style just won't cut it these days. We must be prepared for all situations.

If I were only boxer or judo player I'd make friends with the local college or high school wrestling coach and ask if I can learn and practice take-down defenses with their guys.
Of course in addition to what I was taught coming up in So Cal and Nor Cal I was a competitive Judo player and have trained hard against Catch Wrestlers and Collegiate Wrestlers.
BJJ guys are easy to beat if you can strike, break fingers, and wrists -- they do not train hard against these
Original Samurai Jujitsu had finger breaks and eye gouges, pinching, fish hooks and ear pulling. It also had dirty strikes while grappling, and teaches how to grapple with chains, knifes, and back then swords and other weapons, but nowdays it's mostly weapons we have. Jujitsu was mostly to get the other person onto the ground,and off the pads of BJJ gyms,thoughs slams will almost always win the fight, the ground is hard in real life lol
But old Jujitsu was much better...For real life anyway
Muay Thai has been around forever and is a more solid system overall. However, 52 blocks works two. I cant imagine why people wouldnt be able to incorpoate the blocks of 52 blocks with the overall effectiveness of muay thai. I imagine the two combined would make for a good, fluid and punishing style
Those movements would not work on a thai fighter at all. maybe on the upper body part put what about the lower body part those kicks would knock his arms out and he would'nt be able to endure that type of pain.
it looks cool, but what about protecting legs? a thai boxer in a street fight would use lower leg kicks as well as elbows, do you have any of this in 52. Also he said that thai only has one type of elbow strike, it actually has many, including spinning, stabbing, sideways-up-down etc1

If you find a man or woman for that matter that only know 5 good fighting techniques...If he or she knows how to really use those 5 techniques to the best of there ability.. they will be hard to beat. Muay Thai not all about elbows. to say that 52 hand blocks is more effective than Muay Thai is HIGHLY debatable. First of all, Muay Thai was invented centuries ago,so I'm pretty sure there's a logic to their fighting system. and Second of all, it's "the art of eight limbs". it's not just elbows. and where does he even get this notion of saying that muay thai only throw "stiff" strikes?

52 is like any other system, it's not without its weak points. judging by your comment (Mrgyn), I would assume you practice muy thai as well as bjj. that being said, you have to look at 52 in the same context, i.e. you can have it as a stand alone style, but you still need other styles to be totally complete. on another note, i can't believe kimbo has any functional knowledge of 52.

I can buy that. However, a good jiu jitsu practitioner will usually get to the ground in lightning quick fashion, where he will spoon you until you pass out.
We must realize that the average guy knows more now and that one style just won't cut it these days. We must be prepared for all situations.
Still what you said has a lot of merit and must be considered. Every single minded practice is weak.

If I were only boxer or judo player I'd make friends with the local college or high school wrestling coach and ask if I can learn and practice take-down defenses with their guys.
Of course in addition to what I was taught coming up in So Cal and Nor Cal I was a competitive Judo player and have trained hard against Catch Wrestlers and Collegiate Wrestlers.
BJJ guys are easy to beat if you can strike, break fingers, and wrists -- they do not train hard against these

Original Samurai Jujitsu had finger breaks and eye gouges, pinching, fish hooks and ear pulling. It also had dirty strikes while grappling, and teaches how to grapple with chains, knifes, and back then swords and other weapons, but nowdays it's mostly weapons we have. Jujitsu was mostly to get the other person onto the ground,and off the pads of BJJ gyms,thoughs slams will almost always win the fight, the ground is hard in real life lol
But old Jujitsu was much better...For real life anyway

Muay Thai has been around forever and is a more solid system overall. However, 52 blocks works two. I cant imagine why people wouldnt be able to incorpoate the blocks of 52 blocks with the overall effectiveness of muay thai. It's not about how much you know...or even what you know...It's how you use what little you do know. If you find a man or woman for that matter that only know 5 good fighting techniques...If he or she knows how to really use those 5 techniques to the best of there ability.. they will be hard to beat. I knew a guy that learned a few moves of BJJ, Judo and JKD from various books...He studied and profected this style with footwork and he was beating so-called masters who studied for years.

I see the racism dont stop. Anyway am an ametuer mma fighter, and I see the 52 as a great defensive fighting style. They got good footwork and blocks but I never see them using real equipment! LOL. But for real my main gripe is that they compare it to muay thai. The 52 is good for boxers but the muay thai elbows, kicks, and knees have a tremendous amount of power behind them. 52 is better when combined with other styles, by itself its just boxing with more finesse.

52 is like any other system, it's not without its weak points. judging by your comment (Mrgyn), I would assume you practice muy thai as well as bjj. that being said, you have to look at 52 in the same context, i.e. you can have it as a stand alone style, but you still need other styles to be totally complete. on another note, i can't believe kimbo has any functional knowledge of 52.
