in order to remedy the low recoil problem, could you not mount the barrel on extremely weak springs to accommodate the low recoil? just a suggestion, thats what we did with the PAK in my unit.

just to be correct. This is not an sdkfz 251 (WWII) but the OT810 Tjechian Made POst War vehicle and the 8,8 cm Flak is an license Build Spanish GUN not a WWII German era one.

Today? They probably won't even see you if you're using a modern MBT. An abrams could probably knock this thing out from circa 10 km away, these guys would just see a muzzle flash and maybe if they run fast enough they could get away from their position fast enough so the supersonic pieces of blown up gun don't hit them...

@ChaplainDMK Exacly as i say "you will EVER see" meaning that you can see it (i dont mean satellite view as most MBTs have) anyways, that the gun is old doesn't mean it aint dangerous, a tank like the Leopard 2 uses 90mm which i must say is pretty close to 88mm (but the leo have much better ammo), and most MBTs have actually lower armor in mm compared to some of the heavy weights from ww2.

@MrShrapnelDK exept that leo 2 like all western modern mbt uses a 120mm gun with a muzzle velocity almost twice the one of the 88, a 88 shels today would for sure take out an APC, probably also an IFV but on MBT's the best it can do is de-track it or damage things like the sights and the gun

@vkigo3 Tiger tanks had a modified version of the 88 as there main gun. The tiger was the only WW2 tank big enough to hold such a gun. You obviously know nothing about WW2 tanks as this gun was one of the reasons the Tiger was so feared by the allies. What would be the point in building a bigger, slower tank than the Panther that had the same 76mm gun.

In the Second Battle of Arras Erwin Rommel used them to knock of hordes of British Matilda tanks.

Flak was good anti air and anti tank.

Tigers used a modified 88mm flak as their main gun.
