@revowild Are you asking if I was in actual IMC and can count it towards my instrument currency? It is subjective and up to the individual pilot, but I would count that particular approach.
Nice! I'm taking IFR lessons now and based in Napa. This really helps but it so hard to talk to ATC, remember heading altitude and reporting where ATC wants u to at the same time fly the airplane, stay within the localizer, at the same time preparing a missed approach altitude. Wow!!!! I do fly the airplane with 100 times more accurate now though. Thanks for sharing and your right about the radio calls. It really helps.
By far one of the most interesting videos I've seen on Youtube. Coming from a VFR student pilot I'd say you and ATC worked well together. thanks for posting it and letting me know what I'm in for after I finish VFR.
@sun450 Thanks a lot. I would love to post more, but the icing here is terrible during the winter. Hopefully spring will come sooner rather then later.
Very nice video! (Tell me, why do you speak so fast on the radio? There was no one except you... is it to show to the ATC how experienced and professional you are?)
Im from NY so everyone else speaks very slowly to me. I just try to clear the airwaves as fast as I can and I find that ATC doesn't really care what I say back to them anyway. Not sure if you are being sarcastic with your last remark, but if you aren't I appreciate the compliment.
It's particularly helpful to follow along with the approach plate. Question: Why did ATC give you different heading changes vectoring you to the localizer? Something about "overshoot?" And it looks like you turned about 150-degrees to intercept it, is that about right? Neat stuff!
They were giving me vectors to the localizer and they gave me a very tight turn onto the localizer from the east. It was a little too close and I couldnt get established in time. Another quick vector and everything was good to go. It was almost a full 180 because I was north of the airport when I started the approach,
can you count that as an ILS APP in your log book?

@Jimiec It is called a video patch chord that you can buy from Aircraft Spruce. Your video camera must have a microphone input.

Not "eleven-thousand," but 1-1-0 thousand!

You are correct, but I seemed to make it to the airport in one piece anyway.

No, not sarcastic, just want to know... for me as a non native speaker it is sometimes hard to understand. Video is really nice!

Thanks. Just the way I talk. I think you are right though, I probably should slow it down a bit.

Very nice, very helpful as I start instrument training. And looking strongly at a Mooney. And I do enjoy visiting Napa!

Glad you enjoyed it. I loved getting the instrument ticket, made my flying much more useful. Napa was a great time.
