  • Man, imagine a controller larger than an xbox 360! That would be the best controller ever!!

  • @Anakinnightwalker there is one,he reviewed it.

  • @TheColynSlayer Was it a 1st party controller?

  • @Anakinnightwalker No,it was the Xbox 360 Dream Stick. You didn't really specify the type of the controller in the first comment.

  • i wanna play with one of those so bad, im planning to get a sega genesis soon, so excited about it

  • whats the mode button for ?

  • I can't remember how it used to be back in the day, my birthdate is in 1997

  • for some reason,i laugh more when i watch your videos then the angry video game nerds.u just say and do some of the most random stuff.

  • I wanna play one of those so bad after watching this :/

  • before microswitches were introduced....

  • back when things were made well...

  • Just picked one of these up off ebay, can't wait to receive it, I wanna go kick some ass 1990s style.

  • @ZakkandtheJ have fun,

  • @lmc1dj I just got it in the mail today, really good controller man, I highly recommend it.

  • He should have used the 3. That would have been funny.

  • The street fighter 4 ps3/360 arcade stick works fine and is made from the same parts as the sf4 arcade machine sticks so GTFO

  • One problem I have with this guy's reviews -- which is represented in this one -- is that he overlooks small details, such as what the mode button does. It isn't present on stock Genesis controllers so it would have been good to explain its function here.

  • It's not exactly perfect but close as far as I can tell it's a Dpad type stick

  • Mine is back there. I wish someone would figure out how to plug this on the PS3, as he said. Best arcade stick ever.

  • You can move a Joystick controller around, on a real arcade, you can (probably) break it.

  • lol its biger than mi tv :D

  • 0:00

  • @GamerZirak123 yes....

  • I'm starting to REALLY hate that cloud game commercial.

  • @Leishmaniasisably

    yes

    it is so annoying

thank god for the skip add button

  • lol @ the comparisons... looks like someone's living in the past or received some cash from sega

  • Street fighter is the bomb with that controller. I got the limited addition red controller and red console.

  • 2:16 yes we can! really, I did it once XD

  • Just got one for five bucks at a garage sale. What do you guys use to clean these things up?

  • whats the name of that jazz song that starts playing at the end of the video? sounds really nice.

  • Mine no longer works. Cheap piece of crap. On the other hand, the far more durable 3 button stick is still working just fine.

  • those buttons will be good with mortal kombat 2

  • bought it and use it both for my Sega Master System, my Sega MegaDrive *and* my Amiga CD32!!! it ROCKS!

  • rubber feet :P they should have used suction cups

  • I bought this stick based on CGR's recommendation, and I LOVE IT! It's probably the best rubber contact arcade stick you're going to find anywhere. I have no idea how Sega pulled it off, but it works great. Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat and Eternal Champions play great on this thing! :)

  • i NEED TO find one of these

  • "Somebody needs to fix that!"

I'm sure there's a Genesis to Xbox USB converter somewhere. ;)

  • I prefer a d-pad over a joystick for fighting games. Does that make me a weirdo?

  • @tiberianfiend i prefer a d pad too especially for Mortal Kombat

  • @tiberianfiend I perfer D-pads as well, or analog sticks. These are great for spaceship shooters or classic arcade games like pacman or donkey kong.

  • with that controller i would kick major @ss in street fighter 5

  • That would have been more awesome if you can achally play the games in the controller.

  • I had one of the Asciiware 6-button sticks. Much like the Sega one; thing would make my leg fall asleep if I had it on my lap. It kinda solved the sliding around issue as well by being made larger than the Sega one. it was about the same width, with the hand rest on it, but was a lot deeper and more square in shape, so it got more leverage against you.

Idiot neighbor kid spilled coke into it one day. RIP heavy bludgeon stick, RIP

  • I have two of these and they are perfect for Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. I miss "the arcade era"...

  • You can tell that a game is better when its larger.....

    Mr.Mark.

    TWSS

  • Now I can't believe I bought a crappy 7800 joystick... I'M GETTING THIS!

  • I have the same Street Fighter II in my genesis right in front of me!

  • the megadrive(genesis in europe) with mega fire see what they did

  • @tnylry you mean, the megadrive, genesis in USA

  • its also really good to use with an atari

  • Leave it to SEGA to make kick-ass controllers!

  • I own one of these, it's in near new condition and i only use it on very special occasions. it has a nice solid feel to it.

  • At :57 i thought he was going to say "my god its full of stars" which would be weird because i just watched 2001 a space odyssey like an hour ago.

  • "back in the day." really sweet ending to this one. :)

  • excellent review, made me purchase my very own arcade-stick for the MegaDrive (EU)

paid about 20€ for it, and couldn't be happier

do note that this also works with just about any 9-pin console/computer, such as Sega Master System, Amiga 500/600/1200/CD32 and Atari

*but* it only let's you use 2 buttons on anything *but* the MegaDrive/Genesis

still though, very good arcade-stick and well worth buying if you like to play with a joystick instead of a controller, even if it's *not* a SHMUP

  • omg when music started, it went black and white!!!

  • nice music! i almost the Sega arcade stick and the NES had a romantic past...

  • I own this controller, is awesome : )

  • great jazz!!

  • You can see Mark's reflection in the joystick.

  • Sexy! I have two of both the NES advantage and the SEGA Arcade stick and I just love them both! <3

  • My friend got this. I love to use it when I go over his house to play some arcade ports!

  • but u dont even play that genesis you use your model one with all the added on stuff. so the controller is not bigger then your genesis

  • just got this for a dollar!!

  • @VideeyaGames good deal

  • @VideeyaGames

    Still a loser.

  • @VideeyaGames thats a steal

  • @VideeyaGames Good for you. =)

  • @VideeyaGames I would buy that for a dollar!!!! ~Robocop~

  • @VideeyaGames lucky

  • @VideeyaGames oh yeah? i got final fantasy mystic quest at a yard sale for a dollar! what?

  • @AjMannpie And?

  • @THEfirstLEVELup nothing i just wanted to brag -_-

  • @VideeyaGames I paid $40 including shipping on mine ahahah.

  • the joystick looks just like the NES Advantage's joystick!

  • I have the three button version of this from when the Mega Drive was first released here in Australia. Still my absolute favourite controller of all time. Although there was a locally released Mega Drive controller called "The Tank" and it was freakin' massive. I'd love to see your reaction to that one! It dwarfed the Sega Arcade one! LOL

Oh... you earn massive street cred for references to Twin Cobra. That was a fantastic shooter.

  • I used to have one of these. My mom broke it playing Street Fighter II and Ms. Pac-man. She Drives the hell out of controllers.

  • @thatguyontheright1 Your mum is strong! LOL

  • @sirbargearse nah, she just drives the hell out of controllers.

  • Does anyone know if this will work on the atari 2600 like the normal genesis controller does?

  • @Kilroy369Productions It ought to.

  • Comment removed

  • fuck me, i saw this video years ago and didnt subscribe...

  • DAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

  • my cousin had thsi for mk games

  • This > Then NES Advantage

  • Finally I got mine today. I am a happy person :)

  • I buy a Megadrive from a shopping site (not ebay or amazon). I take look at seller's profile and I see this arcade stick! I-MUST-BUY-IT-TOO!

  • @whaowman which one? (or was it craigslist?)

  • @soisyourface1234 it was a turkish shopping site...

  • It would be awesome if you did a review of the Genistick flight controller by Sega.

  • I wouldn't have put the Start and Mode buttons up there at the top. Kind of annoying when I want to quickly pause it. I sometimes have to take my eyes off the screen and search for where the pause button is.

  • "It's tight, responsive."

    That's what HE said!

  • Are these any good with Mortal Kombat?

  • 1:17 *sigh*... when this kind of delightful things were Made in Japan.....

  • man do i with my genisis worked:(

  • @un7ucky my psp plays genesis games

  • @cokacutter but your psp isnt a sega gen. i just want the console, not the games lol

  • for modern compatability a quick and dirty hack is to get a wired 360/PS pad, solder leads from points on the PCB to a female DB-25 connector (gives you enough pins for every control on the pad so you can use it to mod other pads) then wire the buttons and stick to the corresponding pins on a male DB-25.

writing down which 360 controls go to which pins is handy. if you use a wired pad (and i guess a wireless PS3 pad, though wired will give more room to maneuver) you can us it for PC.

  • the offical sega peripherals were pretty well built, the arcade sticks especially were goddamn tanks. does this one have a proper microswitch stick? the 3-button version just has the crap squishy feeling rubber d-pad switch type.

  • I'm going to use this for my Atari 2600. :D

  • I hear ya my PS1 Steering whhel and Foot pedal are much bigger than my PS1 and its awsome when playing racing games such as Power Boat racing, Need for speed Etc.

  • Say hello to modding shitty mad catz controllers with sanwa buttons!

  • that's a nice arcade stick i wish have one

  • Buh-ons

  • I'll make your joy if you play with my stick

  • WHOA! Modding this for 360 as we speak!!!

  • This Is A Great Replacement For The Atari 7800 Controller

  • did I just hear cood

I never even knew this review existed and yet in my first review I say the same thing "cood"

    good + cool.

  • its not bigger then the model 1 genesis :/

  • I enjoyed the black and white section very much. The irony of it was witty and hilarious, black and white film, about color home video game controllers. Hilarious.

  • THis looks like it would be perfect for games like Darius 2, the Thunder Force series, and all of the other shmups for the system. Including the fighting games.

But i never seen a well detailed review of the official Sega Dreamcast arcade stick.

Hope you get one, they seem nice too.

  • Thos works on Atari 2600 right? If so, AWESOME.

  • best ending ever lol.

  • my 25 year old genesis is still goin strong

  • That controller reminds me of the NES Advantage.

  • I now really want this controller for my new Megadrive. Hopefully I can find one in the UK for PAL...

  • almost as good as the virtua stick ;)

  • That opening statment would not have worked if he had a model 1

  • @SmoothCriminalAaron i disagree they are about the same size (model 1 and Arcade Stick)

  • @djklink20009 I have to get one a see for my self

  • those are 100% sanwa parts XD

  • This controller would be freaking perfect for playing Strider, or Alien Soldier! >:D

  • oh wait i have an idea since the sega genisis has the sme controller port as the atari 2600 use that to play arcade atari 2600 games

  • Its perfect to play Ms. Pac-Man on atari 2600!

  • listen it sounds just like real arcade parts!

    THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK

    and so does the stick!

    CREAK CREAK CREAK CREAK

  • Can you use this on the atari 2600?

  • @ScDrPain Yup it has the same plug and it'll be perfect for atari games like river raid or ms pacman

  • @123kissfan Sweet, i'll have to check it out ^^

  • @ScDrPain Play ms pacman the way your supposed to be

  • I got a used one once.

Freakin thing's buttons never worked at all. I'm very unhappy I found a busted one.

  • 0:00-1:15 Thats what she said! :3

  • BUT THERES STILL EBAY!!!!!

  • they should of come with rubber suction pads on the bottom so you could stick it to a glass table or a smooth heavy object.

  • Hook that up to an Atari!

  • nice touch on the back in the day montage with music

  • look at this thing. it's huge xD lol that's what she said.

  • it doesnt really work all that well with fighting games. its kinda hard to pull off shoryukens and hadokens easily. youre better off playing with a d pad for fighting games. but for shmups and beat-em-ups it works really well.

  • @SkankinDevil89 okay never mind, scratch that. mine for some reason doesnt have rubber feet, so i took some scotch tape and taped the arcade stick down to a table, now it works a lot better for street fighter

  • glue it to the table

  • get the Sega Arcade Power Stick its worth like $30-$40. I got mine fer $5

  • This thing is really hard to find, well at least in the UK!

  • "It's full of actual real arcade feel"

  • I have an idea. Get a metal table (or a table with some metal on it THAT'S MAGNETIC) and superglue some neodymium magnets to the bottom of the controller. :D

  • 1:02 "this thing is HUGE!"

    THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID

  • i came.

  • Really? I always thought the NES advantage stick was as stiff as a dick at a megan fox playboy shoot......

  • i have this babe xD

  • i found myself saying thats what she said every 5 seconds

  • "look at this thing, it's huge"

    That's what she said.

  • @whosnkn Amen

  • @whosnkn Insert Married With Children woot woot woot sound here! LOL

  • @sirbargearse haha. Man I miss that show.

  • @whosnkn I bet she didn't

  • @whosnkn

    "This is the perfect joystick"

ahem, again that's what she said.

  • @Sonicforever231

If it ain't plastic it ain't fantastic.

Okay you and those geeks can go for cock surgery now.

  • @Sonicforever231 best comment ever

  • This arcade stick + Atari 7800 + Beer = FUCK YEAH

  • @SpaceLlama69

Hey you know the deal. I've used that beast to play freaking Hangman on my Atari 7800 with friends. That's some quality entertainment.

  • i bought one for the wii (not a sega one a difernt one)and it works worth a crap for SSBB because the joy stick is the d-pad not the anolog so all i do is taunts...sonic:YOUR TO-AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • @SuperPivottv That's why I don't get arcade style controlers.

  • man all they got to do is make an adapter and map the buttons they should do that

  • nothing says awesome like techno jazz and game reviews go CGRHD!

  • I got mine at a smelly junk shop in Los Angeles. I had to seriously clean it up, take it apart, get the dead spiders out, and their webs. Take each button out and clean it, wash the contacts off. But now it's almost like new and IT'S AWESOME!!! WORKS PERFECT!

  • @dogeymon83 How the heck did spiders get inside a arcade joystick controller?!!!!!!!!

  • The spiders start out very tiny. If kept in an unsanitary environment, which this joystick seemed to be, they can seep inside and lay eggs. This controller still ought to be cleaned a bit. I'm gonna take it apart again.

  • Dead spiders? WTF?

  • @dogeymon83

You might have my old one >w>;; it was in our basement when it got flooded

  • I love your reviews, I just think that you have a Sega bias for some reason.

  • Are you implying that's a bad thing? ;)

  • Dude, if Mark realizes the X-Arcade, he'll fall in love.

  • This guy sounds way too clever to be wasting his time with video games. It's kind of ironic!!

  • Yeah

  • But video games aren't a waste if you enjoyed your time. I wish people wouldn't assume that with narrow negativity.

  • Comment removed

  • Is it worth me buying it for 20$ at my local game store? I want it so badly!!!
