The inside-left-heel system is a great way to learn the game of golf, I use it myself. But I really had to be mindful of my rate of spine tilt as I stand up to the ball. I simply drop back the right foot until my beltbuckle falls into a vertical line with my left cheek, while keeping the knees, hips, and shoulders square to my bodyline. This can only be achieved if the width of the stance correctly coincides with the length of the shaft.Too narrow, not enough spine tilt, too wide, too much tilt.
another point lost on the modern swing gurus. Hogan and Nicklaus advocated a consistent ball position (hogan's a little more toward center than nicklaus). No need to move it around unless you're trying to hit higher or lower. Even when working the ball, Nicklaus used that left heel ball position. Have to give props to Jack Grout, Nicklaus' teacher. Maybe one of the most underrated golf minds in the history of the game. And, man, did he love his 'Jackie Boy'? Nicklaus is the greatest.
