When first asked about this, in 1996, Ron Paul said the newsletters were accurate (which means he was clearly lying when he said "I was probably aware of it 10 years after it was written"). It wasn't until 2008 that he disavowed anything--as far as I'm aware. His statement "I’m not a racist. I did the former, as I was previously on a jury that convicted on a burglary that we thought met the letter of the law but not spirit (regrettably). I spontaneously spoke about it, and I was first picked off by the prosecution at Voir Dire. (Learning about FIJA came later.) Judges/prosecutors agree to rules that ignore/violate fed/state Constitutions, don't want to be called on it.

This video lies. The Ron Paul Political Report was racist in tone, not just in "a couple sentences". When first asked about this, in 1996, Ron Paul said the newsletters were accurate (which means he was clearly lying when he said "I was probably aware of it 10 years after it was written"). It wasn't until 2008 that he disavowed anything--as far as I'm aware. His statement "I’m not a racist. As a matter of fact, Rosa Parks is one of my heroes, Martin Luther King is a hero" is also a lie.

@EmergencyGear911 -- No, that is not my only argument. Yes, I know the shit that's dug up on the other GOP candidates. No, I'm not looking for a perfect candidate (I'm not looking for ANY candidate -- I'm an anarchist). I'm not a Paul fan, but that's not what this is about. It's about the stupidity of saying "hey, if I and my supporters just keep giving the same non-answer over and over and attacking the messenger, maybe this will go away."

It's a lot more than "a couple of sentences." He admitted writing them before he denied writing them, and he continues a Clintonesque approach of "disavowing" them without taking actualy responsibility for, or actually apologizing for, what went out under his name, under his byline, to his profit. Until he does that, no amount of this shuck and jive routine from his supporters is going to staunch the bleeding.
