I've got to say this and I think I speak for most: I'm really tired of seeing people putting SMB 1 at the top of their list just because they think they have to.

SMB 1 was a good game, but believe it or not, there are better games. I'd play MM2 over SMB 1 any day, in my opinion, MM2 has better music than SMB 1.

SMB 1 = Super Mario Bros. 1

MM2 = Mega Man 2

Oh agreed, MM2 is leagues better than SMB1 I think. If it was all you had, SMB1 was nice, but when comparing themes on their own merit compared to their counterparts, not including historic/classic values, there are many vastly superior to SMB1.

If this were a top 20 instead of a top 15, Metroid would have definitely made the list. The tunes in this video all personally stood out to me throughout my near 20 years of gaming.

River City Ransom is still one of the best games ever made. Music is great, too.

Good list, though part of me thinks that so many people's putting the original Zelda and Mario themes on the top of their lists is more about history than the quality of their original arrangements.

Though I'll sound like some sort of import snob for saying this one (even though I know very few Japan-only releases), check out Summer Carnival '92 Recca. The music on that one works very well.

Nice to see Vampire Killer showing strong at #4 (my personal favorite NES tune), but of course, Mario was #1. Not that there's anything wrong with that but the Mario theme is #1 on everyone's personal list but mine it seems.

Ah yes, Dungeon Theme of StarTropics, Zelda Theme, and Mario. I don't know if you know of MOTHER for Famicom (technically not NES) but it has amazing music in it. :)
