  • A beautiful and well-trained voice. Her vowels were impeccable.

  • singing this in my scholasrship! x

  • everything extremely well: especially the flutists

  • i have to sing this in chior and im in middle school :D

  • nice

In ogni caso molto brava, bell'appoggio

  • The woodwind part reminds me of a pastorale

  • You are not serious 1956MCR, are you?? ;)

  • You are not serious 1956MCR, are you?? ;)

  • Bach compôs as músicas em Alemão (They sing in german)

  • This performance is a masterpiece of humor....bravo Harnoncourt!

  • @pautalux Hahaha, yes, I look at him and I just can't stop laughing. Though he's a master. At the beginning his hair, or what's left of it, was in place. By the end it was all over place hahaha, great maestro!

  • what language is this?

  • a beautiful sequency, again.

  • everrything is so perfect that one can hardly believe that such a moment is possible on earth

  • Very,very beautiful flutes and singing,so light,delicious,so understanding!

  • Aria (alto) — "Esurientes implevit bonis“

  • bad ending bernarda!

  • @oliviasmulyan it's funny how no matter how well a singer does in anything he or she does, there's always someone jealous enough to say somehting bad about it.

  • I've always loved this one!!! Beautiful job!

  • I've never heard it done that well.

  • this is so untypical for bach

    i ♥ Bach

  • Beautiful flutes! ^_^

  • That's beautiful, but she's so loud!

  • ...at first, I mean. It might just be the way they recorded it, because the rest is just heaven!

  • @53040 "[...] He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He hath sent empty away [...]." (St. Luke 1)

  • @53040 "He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He hath sent empty away." "Er fuellet die Huengern mit Guetern, und laesst die Reichen leer." (St.Luke 1) Anything under Harnoncourt's direction is incomparable. He and the Concentus Musicus Wien recorded ALL of Bach's Kirchenkantaten--using original instruments--with such sensitivity to text, music, and religious significance that no other interpretation (that I've heard) comes close. And probably never will.

  • I agree, it's the best solo of Bach's Magnificat,i love the complete work

  • My favorite number from Bach's Magnificat :-) Just delicious.

  • 2:52 is excelent :-)

  • @XXZZ2244 You are such a bad guy......Haha/...

  • Her voice is perfect for this aria. BTW, Ian Bostridge has beautiful hair.

  • Love her!! (A)

  • Perfect for the genre. Exquisite.

  • Her name is Bernarda Fink. Such a scrumptious voice!!! Like velvet!

  • It's really beautiful!!

Please, I wanted to know the name of the singer because I loved her voice, could somebody tell me?

Sorry for my english, I'm argentinian.

  • You are from Argentina and do not know about Bernarda Fink, shame on you! ;)

  • You don't have to apologize for your English...your taste in music is excellent and that's all that matters.

  • Beautiful alto :)

  • Wonderful, marvellous, she is an excellent contralto and she interprets it perfectly, I love her, I have seen her singing the Christmas Oratorio by JS Bach and learned how to admire her. The Orchestra and the conductor are superb also. Well done.

  • it's things like this that make me realize that i'm a pathetic singer in reality hahaha. but i'm thankful for that.

  • I love listening to this song again and again. It's a very beautiful rendition of Bach's Esurientes in the Magnificat. I once sang in a choir performing Bach's Magnificat during Christmas where this was also sung. :-)

  • I just can't get it out of my system.

    Celestial

  • Sublime.

  • Like indolala, I can't stop listening, playing it over and over again, marvelling at the beauty of the singer and the singing.

  • Try also: Vivaldi Esurientes. Divine.

    Merci Madame !

  • Glorious! It doesn't get any better than this! Thank you!

  • Lovely, one of my fav parts of the Magnificat! It is so sweetly sung!

  • Thank the lord women are still singing contralto!!!! nowadays it's just countertenors and I hate them!!!!

  • I can not stop listening it. So sublime! unfortunately I do not feel anything spiritual. I m a bad person.

  • Maestro.............

    Salvatore Di Giovanna.

  • Magnifique interprétation de Bernarda Fink. Quelle sensibilité et quelle exquise adéquation musique-texte ! Bravo !

  • @saturne46 Oui. Bernarda Fink Inzko (born 29 August, 1955) is an Argentinian mezzo-soprano. Born in Buenos Aires to Slovene parents, Bernarda Fink studied at the "Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón" in Buenos Aires.

  • Born in Buenos Aires to Slovenian parents, Bernarda Fink studied at the "Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón" in Buenos Aires. She won First Prize at the Nuevas Voces Líricas competition in 1985 and moved to Europe. She lives in the southern Austrian province of Carinthia and is married to the Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia, Valentin Inzko.

  • Thank you for the information about Bernarda. This is excellent...is there anything available on utube that she has performed recently?

  • I agree with you 100 % Thank you !

  • @goranvu she's also deeply religious person. i don't know if that really plays a role, perhaps in her singing it does...

  • @goranvu

  • Bach is the greatest

  • Wonderful voice and version. Who is the singer, please?

  • Argentinian mezzo-soprano Bernarda Fink.

  • Lovely, beautiful, but I am in love with the version of Paul Eswood, what a counttennor, how gentle!!

  • I know this by heart, x333

  • I wonder: recording date? Which orchestra? Etc. Anyway, beautiful, thank you for posting!

  • The concert might have been around 1999/2000 and took place at Kloster Melk Benedictine Monastery in Austria. The orchestra is Concentus Musicus Vienna with Arnold Schoenberg Choir. The soloists were Christine Schaefer, Anna Korondi, Bernarda Fink, Ian Bostrige, Christopher Maltman. They performed Bach Cantatas BWV 61, 147 and the Magnificat. There is a DVD of the whole concert: TDK DV-ADCNH. (There's no exact date printed on the DVD).
