yes indeed SNCF uses 4 tot 6 ex Eurostar trainsets on interior French High Speed services Paris-Lille-Paris, on the trainset you can see SNCF logo's and standard class in green and first Class in red, other logo's than on the cross channel Eurostar services Paris-London-Paris and Brussels-Lille-London-Lille-Brussels services
Nice vid. Is the Eurostar the fastest conventional train in the World? I mean regular operational speeds. They go 190mph on a regular basis don't they?
@justandy333 Nope - China now runs at 225mph (using derivitives of the German ICE3), Fastest in Europe is the LGV Est with ICEs and TGVs doing 205mph. Spain hopes to get 225mph too when they can solve the problems of Ballast Throwing.
With the ferry to england, that is simply the best way to cross the channel. Departure from Belgium or France. Book never to eurotunnel. Take the ferry and enjoy a mini cruse experience with a nice view. For over 150 years of ferry experience, which can count. Eurotunnel, you will lose. Enter campaign against eurotunnel. With his all in 2009 against euro tunnel. Ferry friends
thats fuckin niave!, every way of traveling across the oceans and seas is surely a different experience. bare that in mind before being narrow minded!
sorry, didnt want to sound mean! I was saving you bacon before the sort of people who stand on the end of platforms in anoraks with a notebook jump on your back.
unfortunately not. The ones used by SNCF for the Paris-Lille service, such as this one are 'three capitals' trains which comprise of 20 cars. The ones used by GNER are 'North of London' sets and so only have 16 cars.
Whats the difference between from the SNCF Eurostar and the one that goes through Eurotunnel?! I thought there was Just that eurotunnel eurostar and the italian Eurostar...
I think Eurostar started off with loads of trains - the 3 capitals ones which go from London to France and Belgium, and some shorter ones called North of London which were to be used to go from Liverpool, Birmingham etc. to Europe. But Eurostar never bothered with these ones in the end so have been selling or loaning them out. Some on the Paris - Lille line. They also had sleeper trains which were never used and are now in Canada but breaking down all the time cos of the cold.
@tentacle85 no difference. Just more Eurostars were built then were required (partly because it's taken time for the traffic to grow, and partly for political reasons with proposed North of London services), SNCF lease some spare sets from the main Eurostar operation to give extra capacity on LGV Nord between Lille and Paris
@JuiceJackNut Voltages and signalling, the existing powercars have no room for any more kit - the Velaros will allow operation on the Dutch (1500V DC) and German (15kV 16.33Hz) networks,

@justandy333 Actually the TGV can hit 225mph in regular service on certain lines.

@domcovkid So why is Eurostar buying Siemens Velaros instead of taking back some of these?
