  • She looks like a real hayseed. She won't sell it. She'll probably bring it back home. It's more valuable to her as as door stop to hold open the door to the chicken coop so her laying hens can peck around the yard on a sunny day.

  • Omg that's a lot!

  • If I owned that..and Lark started to cry..I would have cried with him. She didn't seem the least bit moved.

  • that piece is soooooooooooo undervalued!!! From year 500-800 AD?!? At least a million dollars!

  • For some reason, I really don't like this lady. She comes off as very arrogant.

  • @MmmCouchPotato What I saw was someone who probably doesn't have much money and didn't want to seem too eager when she found out the value.

"Well, I'm not going to sell it, but...." Yeah, I'm selling the HELL out of this thing.

  • @MmmCouchPotato I agree, she probably has the I.Q of a kettle, but I really like the reaction of the appaiser....

  • @lazerpod66 That's not very nice. You can't tell what anyone is like on TV.

  • @51Saffron Sad but true.

  • That guy was about to cry, lol. "It's so beautiful." Only if there were double statues all the way.

  • Wow, anybody else notice the fantastic mullet @2:53?

  • "The artist didn't sign underneath or anything?"

... I mean, seriously, did she really ask that? Did she expect to find a Made in China label with the date?

You can tell the previous appraiser tried to make her believe it wasn't worth a hundred dollars. He probably told her he'd give her $25 for it, you know, as a friend...

  • The John Boehner of antique appraisal...p*ssy!

  • appraiser start crying = cum in you pants!

  • oh shit is King Shisa, dont sing to it!!!-Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla

  • this guy almost jizzed in the statues mouth

  • ahha-hes almoust crying there.....:))

  • All this for a statue of a mean looking Pug?

It is a beautiful piece though!

  • how much is it worth now?2011

  • awesome!

  • as nothing I own is valuable, I can only imagine the insurance premium and level of security required to keep such a piece at home. SELL IT !

  • the appraiser gets all verklempt!

  • epic mullet at 2:54

  • @domino11avhs Ha ha!...Epic Mullet...great name for a band.

  • The "rippling muscles" of the sculpture made the appraiser cry....methinks he's a little bit fruity.

  • That is a beautiful piece of work. Even if it was a replica, it's the type of piece I would love in my home. It's exquisitely carved.

  • i understand him...i saw maple leaf gardens for the first time the other day and i got all choked up over that.

  • I'M sorry I have to say this but; This strung out low class bitch is / was lucky!!! Her family owned this; Now because all her relatives have passed ,we are stuck with this classless person who will sell this beautiful item for a fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry,But I believe I am right.SORRY.I think I am right.Sorry I know I am right

  • @foureyedlunatic What? That women is obviously wealthy , judging from her reaction and the fact that she's not interested in selling it...

People like you who judge people on how they appear to you .

You're a bitter and obviously poor person who is jealous when people have more than you. You just assume that this is all that she has, or that any wealth that she may have MUST have been given to her without any hard work or business savvy involved...What a dope you are.....

  • @Valkonnen Thanks for the response. She must be related to you .It's obvious she wants to sell this precious piece. In fact she did!!!No skin off my back; But I never would have sold it.I appreciate special works of art.Money wise I'm in good shape.Better still I feel good about Life.

  • @foureyedlunatic She stated that she previously had it appraised as "priceless" and was there to find out information about it. She said that she didn't want to sell it..

Show me anywhere in the video where you think it's obvious that she wants to sell it...You must be hearing voices...Secondly PROVE that she sold it and I'll make you $1,000 richer......So where did she sell it....The money goes to your Paypal account upon recieving proof of this sale....

  • @Valkonnen 3:15 to 3:18. How can I sell it? As far as the 1k offer I'll stay in touch.

  • @foureyedlunatic "How could I sell it" as in how could I part with such a wonderful piece....C'mon now, you can't be serious if you think that she was asking how she could get rid of it.....Let's not be crazy here....It was obvious what she was saying.

  • @Valkonnen You and I understand the beauty of this work of art;some do not.The owner of this classic is,is,unappreciative. This work became her possesion just a spell before this appraisal.I like you would feel a pride in presenting this treasure.Lark E Mason Jr. showed his appreciation just as I would the first time I would have seen this Statue.I also cryed.

  • @Valkonnen Well. She inherited it. So she didn't work for this. There's a reason why 99% of the people on this show are wealthy white people who inherited their antiques through their family.

  • @nadi1010 No, My good friend is one of the appraisers on the show, and I can tell you that most people are middle class, not "Wealthy white people"...What is wrong with being wealthy and white anyway? All of the wealthy white friends of mine have all worked very hard and are at the top of their game, and I haev hundreds of friends like this..There is a reason why generations of families never seem to make it, your attitude..You think that anyone rich must have had it handed to them. Very Sad !

  • @Valkonnen Regardless of whether they are wealthy or not, most of the people who appear on this show. Being white is a privilege....keep in mind that most of the men in the KKK who hung black people were actually quite poor. Many of the white people on this show who bring on Native American antiques tell stories of how their ancestors "Came into contact with the Indians"-what exactly does that mean exactly? You don't have to be rich to steal something from a marginalized group.

  • @nadi1010 You have such a chip on your shoulder...People who hung blacks weren't all in the KKK and weren't all poor either..I've dealt in Antiques for many years and every native american item on that show and that I've sold has been bought by people who came in contact with Indian dealers of such items...No one "Stole" anything..You need help...

  • @Valkonnen Lol. "People who hung blacks weren't all in the KKK and weren't all poor either". Was I ever making that argument? You have no idea how to frame an argument so now you're just saying things that don't make sense. I wasn't making that argument (can't believe you deal in antiques btw, with your poor comprehension of the english language). My point was that money doesn't matter...poor or rich, the people who hung black people were WHITE. WHITE IS PRIVILEGE. GET IT?!

  • @nadi1010 Yes you were making that argument , you demented fool! You said "keep in mind that most of the men in the KKK who hung black people were actually quite poor."...Now what the hell is that? You actually said it, and are now denying it..I'm making perfect sense, while you are absolutely green with envy of anyone who makes it and it's destroyed you, and will destroy your children too...You can't believe that I'm a dealer because it's beyond your comprehension that anyone could be .

  • @nadi1010 There are millions of white people who were brought up just like you...They aren't priveledged, they are dirt poor and uneducated, and there way of thinking will keep their kids the exact same way.I have dealt in antiques for over 25 years...It started by educating myself on what the value of a myriad of different items are worth...with that info, I buy an item for , say $50 and then after one phone call to a collector of that particular thing, make $1,000..It's knowledge and it's free

  • Regardless of whether they are wealthy or not, most of the people who appear on this show are white. Being white is a privilege....keep in mind that most of the men in the KKK who hung black people were actually quite poor. Many of the white people on this show who bring on Native American antiques tell stories of how their ancestors "Came into contact with the Indians"-what exactly does that mean exactly? You don't have to be rich to steal something from a marginalized group!

  • Also, your comment "There is a reason why generations of families never seem to make it" SCREAMS of racism. So you don't think that having a Norman Rockwell painting in your family for generations because Rockwell knew your great grandfather won't help one's family out a bit? You really don't think that kind of privilege puts one's ancestors at a bit of an advantage over a family who couldn't even drink out of the same water fountains forty years ago??!!

  • @nadi1010 My comment was meant for ALL families..It had no racist overtones at all...Parents who are poor have children who remain poor for generations...That's the fact. Jewish families always seem to make money, and there is a simple reason for this...Not because the parents give the kids money..They instill the importance of education and if the kid wants to become a social worker, plumber, or fireman, they tell them that there is no money in that ..They become Doctors, lawyers, etc..

  • @Valkonnen You said, "my comment has no racist overtones," and then you use Jewish people to illustrate your point, so you just used an ethnic group to demonstrate how "some people" make it and others don't, which is racist. Obama is black but his mother was white, and got her Ph.D with the help of welfare. Who knows where he would be today if his family didn't receive social support?

  • @nadi1010 How is it racist to state the undeniable fact that one group is consistantly successful because of their instilling a love of education into all of thier generations for 2,000 years? Where would Obama be if his mother didn't recieve social support? Where would you be if your parents didn't support you in your formative years...????You really are out of your friggin mind..What is your point by seeing the negative in every situation, and when there isn't one, making negatives up???

  • @nadi1010 Your attitude is obvious and it's a known fact that it keeps people from ever having anything..You actually believe that priveledge is THE ONLY way that someone can get rich, yet In my personal life experience ALL of the people that I know who are wealthy, worked so hard to get where they are.As for your water fountain comment, we now have a black president. If that isn't proof positive that with education and hard work nothing is impossible....I'm just wasting my breath on a sad loser

  • @nadi1010 Finally, I am disgusted by you equating money with success. So you say Jewish people are "successful" because their parents tell them to be doctors instead of social workers. So being a social worker is a sign that you aren't successful, just because you don't make a ton of money? Your attitude sickens me, and is exactly what is wrong with this country!

  • @nadi1010 Having money makes life more enjoyable and frees you from worry and stress of always trying to just squeeze by...You have to work very hard to get it and you can't get it from just doing what's expected...You have to go the extra mile...If you can spend your life doing something that you love and get paid well for it, that is the ultimate success by anyone's standards...I refuse to waste my breath on someone who has been destryed by his parents and brainwashed into this way of thinking

  • Wow!!!! He cries!!!! That just tells you he was more than amazed and didn't even know how to react! Anything Chinese and old will be valuable... Allow me to go to a Chinese yard sale and see what I can find lol... Great video thanks for sharing!

  • You know it's a good sign when the appraiser starts to cry........

  • Everyone should give this comment a thumbs-up. It's ab-so-freakin-lutely true.

  • @crosmas no shit, i think he got a boner, lol...

  • Pretty sure he had a boner during this

  • And that excites you, doesn't it.

  • Statue Magnificent,Appraiser Emotional,Lady Lucky.

  • I own the cross that jesus hang on, don't know if it is worth something. i painted it in camoflage colors though just to match my 1/6 scale rc tank that i have next to it on a shelf.

  • @Sweden80 sounds like a georgous rc tank

  • @Sweden80Here. - Hahaha, awesome. Too bad Jesus didn't exist or I'd have given you ten quid for it.

  • While historians believe that he most likely existed, the belief that he walked on water and performed miracles is ludicrous.

  • who are these people that have these items? Do they live in a basement listening to old time radio or are they from the same Amish community with such horrible inbreeding that they do not develop emotion?

  • wow, the guy almost started crying!

I mean, yah, I would be too...if I owned it!

  • The 6th century!!!

  • she sold it at auction ...read something...

it went for 78.000 a little lesss than he said

  • yah, she would never sell it....mmmHmmmm.

  • I bet she sold it.

  • I fully understand the passion for something like this. I remember finding a desk like my late father had when I was young - I could not afford it - but it was so beautiful I cried in the furniture store.

  • She sold it to the expert that day. He gave her $175 for it.

She tried for $200 but he wouldn't budge.

  • @HectorsHouseMusic thousand or hundreds lol?

  • I also like the way the woman doesn't want to sell it. She seems to appreciate it for its beauty, not just its monetary worth. That's also rare.

  • I love the way the appraiser is so moved by the piece! If you love and understand art, you'll understand his emotion at seeing something so beautifully done and so rare. True art IS rare.

  • @SZRD True art is rare. What in the world is that supposed to mean?

  • That was a cool looking piece, I liked the detail it had. To imagine it's around 1300 years old in that condition makes me want to go do some carving myself.

  • @Fektthis

    haha

  • what u guys fighted about ? seem fun

  • That may have been the most grammatically hilarious comment I've read this year, and it's November!

  • @Ultranothing

i want to become a collector

  • Does ridiculing others ease the pain of your own stupidity?

I'm sure it's not so much being an idiot, as having a much better appreciation of things than, say, you.

  • ah fuck u

  • Oh, excuse me! I was simply trying to understand why a person would call someone an idiot merely because they expressed a human emotion. As a fellow human, I find it rather disturbing that you would sling insults at, or question the intelligence of a person who has done nothing more than express physically, the feelings of his heart. That's just me, I guess.

  • He may have shed a few tears. He wasn't sobbing uncontrollably or excessively emotional.

Maybe creed1717 would say "Oh, COOL! That's an AWESOME artifact, DUDE!" - but he's not you, and you aren't that special that everyone should share your particular emotions or reactions.

And since, as a historian and art appraiser, perhaps it isn't too shocking that he's emotional over seeing an object of his interest that's "conservatively" valued at more than your house?

    But anyway...

  • creed1717, Why don't you stop CRYING about his crying.

  • crying makes you a liberal? Everybody cries some point in their life. You're really have a lot of prejudice

  • you are the idiot....the guy is passionate about asian art...and if you had spend 30 years like him in the antiquing industry for asian arts you whould be emotional too seeing something lke that

im a painter and the first time i saw a real Van Gogh painting in person i cried it was very emotional i even visited Van Goghs last residence and was overtaken by emotion...you obviously dont know shit about art

  • creed, you need to fuckin calm down. you're the mofo idiot. you call yourself a fuckin musician when you don't understand the man's passion for art? you're a fuckin shame. give up the music man, and stick to watchin porn in the basement

  • You are truly, TRULY an idiot. Please take that to heart.

I only wish others could have seen the depths of your stupidity, but your comments were unanimously voted "fucking retarded" by fellow viewers, and were deleted. :(

  • Less that 300k for something from the 6th f-ing century?? Something that is impossible to get anymore?? I would think it would value a LOT higher than that, not that I know a thing about antiques, it just seems like a surprisingly low number.

  • it's a gargoyle

  • wow.......who figured below a video about a antique artifact I'd find a pointless and never ending "i know you are but what am i" fight.....

Splendid! Just an FYI....no matter how well versed your remarks, you still sound like two five year olds fighting over a comment made at the expense of someone's mommy....

    Beautiful piece of artwork indeed....

  • Lol, "that's not important to me particularly but id be curious"... YEA RIGHT!

  • I wouldn't have been surprised if that guy grabbed the statue and ran off with it.

  • Id sell the shit outta that..

  • and there's the reason behind you not having one... ;)

  • Why would you want to keep it..??

  • mate i'm gonna go ahead and reply and then i'll pretend you never asked that and that i never had to answer such a question ;) What you're watching here is a piece of history almost unique. Even from a value perspective keeping it in the family for another 50-80 years will most likely add to its value. But since not everything is about money, that woman is holding a magnificent piece of the history of mankind. Selling an item like that would be like selling a Phedias statue... :)

  • Unless... and i repeat that unless you decide to sell that in a museum instead of a private collector! Sure you won't get as much money ( most of the time private collectors pay more ) but you would have given the vast public the chance to admire that piece of art, instead of giving it to someone who would probably have it on his fireplace ;)

  • On a final note i thought of a short and relatively smart answer to your question... you would want to keep it for the same reasons someone out there would want to buy it :)

  • Dude your thinkin way tooo much into it. If you actually look through google for the woman that had that statue she actually sold it within 2months of of getting it apraised so with all due respect blow me =D

  • dude i did not looked on google for that ... and i'd rather not blow you.... you on the other hand can continue being as much fail as you are.

  • Comment removed

  • So im a fail because i said id sell it.. Where is the logis in that..??

  • meh i guess that "blow me" line set me off... for that i apologize.

  • btw it's logics...

  • The appraiser's reaction is wonderful. It's so rare in America that you see someone genuinely moved to tears by art and preserved tradition, preserved beauty.

  • I know, right?? I LOVED that. Holding and touching something like that is like taking a step back in time. We need to preserve history. :D

  • haha bet she sold it

  • I love seeing the appraiser's reactions to seeing once-in-a-lifetime items like this it truly takes their breath away

  • I'll sell it cus i might break it or something haha

  • "Oh [the price] is not important to be" haha yea right

  • statue has my teeth to a T

  • I think she thought it would have been worth more....but, that is still a lot of money.

  • The appraiser is more excited than the owner...LoL

  • That's mere speculation.

  • It's certainly not speculation, after the Communist Revolution, most Chinese art was stowed away much of it to Taiwan and elsewhere. Given the standing of it, it was almost definitely stolen. That it needs to be returned is a different story though.

  • I;m so fucking sick of the Chinese attitude that insists that the West owes them, we should drop on our knees because of China's 5k history. Chinese people keep bragging of how great their nation is and how brilliant they all are. If were not for the West and all the technology that they stole from us, they would be still be eating tree bark for lunch, and shit in the gutter. We don't owe you shit! You owe us your 21 century.

  • Im merely suggested that many Chinese anitques were stolen and you go off on a tangent and start insulting a whole race. Where do you get the idea that we brag? Chinese are seldom loud or talkative around Westerners, in fact I suggest it is you who bragging and boasting. China maintained the largest economy and population for thousands of years, so would it not be beneficial to study this civilisation? Apparently not according to racists like you.

  • No dude, I'm not racist! I don't hate races! What I do however, I despise certain inward mentalities and attitudes that seem to be so prevalent in PRC. I remember this Chinese girl in school.... She hated Japanese with passion. Never been to Japan, never met one Nippon. She considered China "superior" to the west in every way. She considered that Taiwan MUST become part of China even if it means war. And that Tibet, despite the fact that was annexed by force, should always belong to Mao!

  • One individual cannot count for an entire race. As for Chinese feeling superior I think this just applies to them feeling they have stronger values. In Britain, Chinese students perform well above the normal standard due to strong family values. Chinese don't really see themselves as superior in any other sense.

  • Well, i grant you that! She was odd, and it would be stupid to extrapolate. However, when it comes to "repressed" anger, I stand my ground! I've bumped into it on more than one occasion! And when it comes to the past, every nation has its own examples of being stomped or being the fist! But most, do put the past behind it (look at Europe), You know, you should re-evaluate some of you cultural mores. A bit more integration won't kill you! Stop hiding behind the Wall, especially when in the West

  • This is in response to your comment from three months ago about the stolen Chinese artifacts.

I just saw a skit the other day that reminded me of people like you: Debbie Downer.

You must be the life of every party.

  • I have no idea who this Debbie Downer character is but I take it you want to insult me. Responding to a 3 month old comment is pretty lame or perhaps it took you 3 months to think of that line.

  • Debbie Downer is a character from SNL who points out the negative aspects of every situation she encounters; as you did here on this video, with your snooty remarks.

Don't flatter yourself - I'm far more witty and entertaining than your petty mind could ever conjure! I respond to your Debbie Downerism three months later only because another user had responded to a comment which resided near yours in both physicality and time frame. I read it and said, "Now THERE is a BUZZKILL!"

  • "Don't flatter yourself"

    Where is the self flattery?

  • The self-flattery stems from your insinuation that one would require three months time to offer a response to your Debbie-Downerisms, which I see have been refuted by several 'Tubers.

  • "snooty remarks"

Stating facts is not what is called "snotty" mate.

  • No, what is "snooty" is your insistence in making everyone feel as though you know all the answers, i.e., that this particular piece of art was stolen. You have no idea of it's history though you feel obligated to enlighten us all with your depressing history lessons. So you don't continue missing the point: Thank you for the facts. No-one is dismissing what you say as false. It's just not...fucking...necessary. Cool out!

  • "I'm far more witty and entertaining than your petty mind could ever conjure!"

It is rare to encounter someone with such arrogance and lack of humility. You are a rare specimen child.

  • Please pardon my inability to properly convey sarcasm through this medium. I was simply trying to point out that, in this particular instance, I'm right and you're wrong. You seem highly intelligent, though misguided.

You see, I can feel your egotism. You're trapped inside your ego, and it's the thing which prompted your negative spin here in the first place. You feel obligated to point out fault in all that you see, because you are enlightened and no-one can see the truth but you.

  • Why do you say we "stole" technology? Can I say the West stole the technology for making books (China invented paper and printing) and thus religion (the holy book could not be mass produced). Humanity moves forward by copying others foolish redneck.

  • Exactly, that's why I don't understand why Chinese dwell on the past so much. They constantly remind themselves and to us that at one point in history the West colonized parts of China, that "we stole" their art, that we "interfered". I've got to know Chinese quite well, and mainlanders in particular have this repressed anger towards western culture. Kind of like "We'll show you one day! and you'll pay for it!". Of course when it comes to Tibete, their standards change...

  • The truth is westerners have stolen our art. I am sure you are well aware of the sale of the bronze animal heads (taken from the British looted Yuanmingyuan) which Pierre Berge tried to sell and naturaly the Chinese objected. Berge responded by saying he will hand it over if China improves the human rights in Tibet. Do you see a connection between antiques and politics? I certainly don't.

  • Well, look at the bright side! At least some of this "stolen" art has been preserved in in world class museum by people who know its value, and appreciate its historical significance! I'm wondering how much of it would have survived during WW2 and particularly during the cultural revolution. And don't tell me that when PRC army marched into Tibet, they never left with "souvenirs"? I hope they did, because the alternative is chilling! They just destroyed it!

  • Indeed many relics were destroyed during the revolution but I don't see how that effects our right to claim certain items of historical value to the us. The Chinese government and entrepreneurs have forked out millions forked out millions to buy back antiques and we are starting to feel this is wrong which is why the Chinese government did not buy back the bronze heads.

  • You see, this is your fallacy as a nation! What is wrong with Chinese art to be in the custody of the Chicago museum of art, or Louvre, or Berlin or in Santiago? Why do you think that Chinese art belongs exclusively to China? What if the Italians would say the same about Mona Lisa? or the Spanish about their Picasso? Don't you think is more beneficial to have people, that would otherwise never travel to China, exposed to Chinese culture? Don't you think that this would stimulate dialogue?

  • I did say antiques of historical value to Chinese. Pieces like the bronze are symbolic of the humiliations inflicted upon us so to see westerners selling them and profiting infuriates us, but as for minor pieces, yes, I do believe it is beneficial for them to be kept in foreign countries to be admired.

  • europeans interfered in china.. they forced unequal treaties on all Chinese ports by using military force. Chinese people think it is a shameful time in the history.

And the Chinese who you say had anger toward western culture DO NOT represent the majority of Chinese, ok? There are good and bad people every where.

We're not bragging, we are proud of our achievement of being one of the most powerful and continuous empire in history. We were weak for last 200 years but now we are strong again.

  • bitch sold that, please.

  • I know eh? Gimme a break. Tryin to act all cool and unimpressed by the whole ordeal.

Bitch drove home fast and had that sucker on ebay in 25 minutes flat.

  • ebay? I think not... more like sotherbys!

  • it sinks.

  • u was da one hu called us fuckin retards well thanx n dat iz funny lol ur vidos r mint !!!!

  • I wonder if anyone gets so excited that they drop the item as they walk away.

  • doubtful

  • haha.. or pass out.. those two go hand in hand anyways.

  • LOL

  • very nice, but, will it float?

  • WILL IT BLEND?!

  • she sold it, she looks broke

  • HAH!

  • I need to start attending auctions and befriending old people.

  • They need companionship just as you or I.

  • haha mhm

  • Bushtease?

  • Ha ha. Agree.

  • It amazing how most of these valuable antiques were either found at a garage sale or given to them by their poor grandparents.

  • The appraiser is in tears - that's just priceless...

These aprraisals that bring these reactions bring tears to my eyes too.... whew

    Thanks Ultranothing for posting these!

  • hey can i buy that one marlble chines lion for 50,000 cash !!!!! I would love to buy me one like really soon heheheheh every one is like yeah right foo u can't afford that shit!! lol, but I plan to start me a collection of antiques soon and I'd love to have that one hehehehe!!! :)

  • Huhuhuhuhuhuh...

  • Donaldpan wrote : LOL WHY is SHE on the SHOW if she DOESNT want to SELL IT?

(Sorry I accidentally deleted your comment)

WELL, Don, SHE is on the SHOW to GET the ITEM APPRAISED! Because THAT is the POINT of the SHOW! NOT to SELL the ITEMS!

  • That statue looks like the drunk on the Simpsons belching.

  • Barney? HAHA! Yeah, it actually does. Thanks for the laugh :)

  • She knew what she had.

  • Ya, that flicker of disappointment was hard to hide. She wanted to hear half a million.

  • what a pussy!!

  • Not everything is about you.

  • tat

  • The appraisers response restores my faith in art objects and in art collectors. This video rivals the Navajo blanket. YAY
