Correction: you will lose your right to trial if you are ACCUSED OF BEING an Al-Qaeda operative, and you will have no means of refuting the accusation. In the past spies for, e.g., the USSR and Israel invariably stood trial. That this practice now is being superseded puts into question the government's confidence in the strength of its evidence.

But if the capability exists and an administration comes to power that would use the law for the wrong reasons the problem ends up being the same- loss of human liberty. I generally look at things positively but I do think that this is worrisome and I am extremely surprised that the Obama administration did not think of the possible future consequences. However, you have a president who comes forward and says, "Yes this can be used for that, but I promise as long as I am president that won't happen." So, apparently they do know the law can be used in the ways stated in the video. The wording was made to confuse people, but make no mistake its there. Obama will use it, because he lies about most everything. Transparency anyone?
