I have two male pekin duck I rescued from a park that they were dumped in, unable to function out in real world they would soon be fox food. I brought them home and penned them in an old garden bed area to turn them into fertilizer factories of scrap food. They succeed there but thats all I say positive about em, they are fucking jerks that non stop harrass my chickens and now are penned up alone where they routineley kick the shit out of each other.
Interesting. Two loosely related species can help each other out and we human beings (all the same species, by the way) can even be polite to each other. Yeah, who's more intelligent? It sure isn't us.
They are not midwives! They are an infertile couple. They are watching their surogate lay their babies. They are excited to start a family of their own after all these years.
So sweet...............loving kindness and compassion is the natural expression of all animals that I've ever been around and observed. This little duck is one more shining example. Wishing these qualities were more developed and were naturally expressed in humans............sigh..........
i had 5 turtles when i was 2 years old and i didnt know what do do with them i smacked them in thier shell i feel sorry for them i was dumb when i was 2 years old.
@animalejover I got a rooster like him. mine is half silver wyandotte, and half brahma. ;) brahma means they have that white triangle on the wing. ;) rest is all silver and black.
It makes one wonder if all the talk of Increasing Consciousness is actually true..I see animals acting in a more compassionate way (like the video of one dog saving another on the freeway) or is it just that we people are being more observant of their behavior? It begs the question, I would like to believe the former.
@mrmynx Camera phones are more available to regular people now. Add that to Youtube (and other file sharing sites') increased usage and you get more videos of intelligent animals around.
Of course these animals are smart, but they have had this kind of behavior for a long long time.
dogs learn from birth how to interpret human behaviour and have an assortment of barks used for humans that they wouldn't use in the wild.
(and I'm going to nitpick here. To 'beg the question' means to 'answer with the question'. So if I was to say "Dogs are evil and should all be put to sleep" and you ask why and I reply "because they're evil" THAT'S begging the question *steps off soap box*)
There are a few different kinds of Chickens. The ones that we keep for laying eggs (young femals often called Pullets) have been developed especially to lay alot of eggs. The hen lays eggs for about 240 days of the year. Its similar to why women have a monthly cycle and not need a man around. Keep in mind that the egg is an evolutory milestone, developed so animals without the ability to gestate can reproduce. I hope this helped! ^^
@roswell333 The eggs are not fertilized. When you eat an egg there aren't any parts of the chicken in there. The egg has to be fertilized by the rooster then it uses the yolk to live off of.
@roswell333 acording to my science teacher the farms haves a special food for chicken to lay eggs without life inside it just for food, wen a rooster steps a chicken they have some kind of magic and can make the life its pretty weird if you ask me
you should see how many eggs you get and only take one and keep a couple so tthe hen can rais a child i mean dont you think that will feel bad for the hen ? plus it would be fun to make another video of it hatching !
