SMDEP Houston: Getting into Medical School

Is it possible to apply to SMDEP while I'm in high school and AZ? I have a biological father who is a resident of TX and will have 60 community college credits (but they include for Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology). Plus, did you have to send in a copy of a parent's federal income tax form? Thanks :D

I think you have to be in college... because your acceptance is based on your grades.

Hey Gary, congrats on getting into medical school. I have aspirations to go to Medical School as well. This coming up fall i will be a rising senior at my college and this year will be the time to prepare for the MCAT and go through my school's reveiew committee. How did you prepare for your interviews?? My idea is to schedule as many interviews with my professors as possible; that way I can be a little more comfortable explaining my story under pressure. Do you have any further advice for me??

I actually took a class on interviewing. No lie. I would look at the communication classes at your undergrad school or even local community colleges. But my school has a interviewing class and a persuasion class in the communication department. But if you don't want to go that route you should just practice with acquaintances and friends, have them ask you the top 20 common interview questions that way you can practice your answers, segues, and excuses =]

What did the first 2-3 days consist of?

Ah it's hard to say. But pretty much the first day is just getting to know the tutors and the other scholars in the program and the other days are getting the hng of the classes and being told what is expected in the 6 weeks to come.

But again I don't remember the first days specifically because it was basically a year ago and its such an insignificant part of the program.
