my theory is : Tifa loves Cloud, Aerith loves Zack. Cloud looks up to Zack, Zack loves Aerith, and yes they had Sex. then Zack dies, Cloud becomes a Zack prototype, Aerith is interested, and also fears Cloud for beeing in Soldier, and is afraid he leaves her. so thats why she Joined him. since she already lost a Soldier. Tifa still in love with cloud, not really showing. Aerith dies. Tifas thought "thx Sephiroth :D" Sephiroth thought "hes, i can still take on girls, dont forget that tifa"

You're forgetting the fact that Aerith's consciousness still lives on inside Cloud, which is why he has been described as being able to communicate with her even after she passed away. And also, like Cloud said himself at the end of FF7, he'll be able to meet her again in the lifestream once the time is right.
