There are so many gems in this... Anakin turns and his eye is pure evil... the Emperor tells Vader to rise... the 1 second glimpse of a crazy lightsaber-wielding Emperor laughing maniacally...

Truth is as far as simple writing goes, plot, character development, etc. the prequels were pathetic and if you want to defend them by saying you like them, fine. It's time for a remake. The old Battlestar Galactica had the same Sci-Fi style as Star Wars (1977) and was remade into an excellent television show. The same can be done for this franchise ... except it doesn't have to be a television show. But if it were that wouldn't be too bad.
This was definitely better than Episodes 1 and 2. This one didn't have Jar Jar as one of the main characters, like Episode 1, and it wasn't filled with as much cheesy love scenes, like Episode 2. This was a very good movie, in my opinion, despite the fact that Hayden Christensen is a terrible actor

The Phantom Menace wasnt perfect, neither was AOTC, I understand and I agree that the original is far superior to the prequels, but honestly I loved this movie. It was probably one of the darkest and most emotional of them all next to "Empire". Die hards can hate as much as they want on the prequels, but I felt I got every inch of my moneys worth when I left the theater back in May of '05.

Oh gosh, I am getting so giddy. I remember when I saw this trailer and was getting so excited. I was 12 years old and look at me now, attending conventions. I have come so far!
They're all highly entertaining. Some of the SW films are weaker than others, each one with some flaws (including the OT). But despite them this Saga overall is still one of my favorite films series' of all time.
I was amazed with this trailer cause it had lot's of classic elements. A bunch of wookies (Original Trilogy cause of Chewbacca), Darth Vader (Original Trilogy), Emperor (Original Trilogy). When I saw this film, I loved it.
They are moving at places, and entertaining / well-made in others. Some "astounding" aspects like certain actors or special effects, as well.
But I don't know how you can say they're "masterpieces" - I mean, if you think the dialog and acting (and the plot) hold up, like, say, you enjoy the romance in Clones and find it "moving", then fine I guess.

But to be honest WE chose to go see this film, and we can only blame OURSELVES for buying into this I mean we've seen the first two of the trilogy and we HATED 'EM yet we STILL chose to go see it (well at the time I didn't I was only 11 and i LOVED Star Wars: CLONE Wars so I went to introduce myself to the Star Wars galaxy). Obviously I'm matured now and see why these films weren't received well and I see why we don't deserve a SEQUEL trilogy...

I'm not sure how any Star Wars fan could hate this movie. It had so much action, so much emotion, so much drama. IT was truly an intense film with so many awesome scenes.
I don't see how anyone could call the prequels terrible. I'm sorry, but I watched the original three movies and they are not nearly as intense as the newer ones. Yes, they were great films, but I don't see how one could like the original films and dislike the new ones - if anything, it's vice versa.
What a fantastic tribute to Alec Guinness....oh i mean't the nostalgic trailer not Ewan McGregor he sucked he was WAAAYYY too cocky in this film him and his high ground loool.
@arsenalrulez1000 Ewan did like a perfect tribute to Alec Guiness. He studied all of his mannerisms and really tried to do him justice. Him and Ian McDermid saved this movie in a lot of ways, two very tremendously talented actors.
Not everyone will agree, but, imo, this was the best Star Wars film. It was dark, intense, and surprisingly visceral. For any fan who felt cheated when Phantom Menace came out, this movie will make up for it.

@Equistta The thing is, that by this point in the Jedi's History they'd lost alot of their power. They weren't the unholy powerhouses they were in the Old Republic. They had been peacekeepers for so long that the call of war wasn't there anymore and it made them weaker. before the Separatists, they Jedi hadn't faced a real opponent since the old republic era. The Sith had been hiding in secret for the past few thousand years building their power, and Palpatine was the result of it.
@Equistta They are powered beasts but lucas made sure to differentiate their power from magic, in the end they are just men. Powerful men fighting on a level we couldn't match. They aren't just gonna run around using the force to blow things up, that's not how the jedi are envisioned. It's the retarded EU that makes them too much like superheros or something

But there's no one who could do a better job than the original cast, and they've all grown old. Besides, all kinds of stories have been illustrated in Star Wars video games and books set after Episode VI. What more do you need?

I felt that nostalgic excitement watching this again. It was only 5 years ago, but I got nostalgic either way. I was a senior in high school, and I the anticipation that my friends and I felt was palpable. This teaser makes it feel like non-stop brooding epic badassery, but the movie itself isn't so serious. I still love the film franchise anyway.

I saw A NEW HOPE in the theater in 1977 when I was 4 yrs old.
Seen every SW film on the big screen.
The original trilogy was great. The prequels were not as good in comparison but still good films.
PHANTOM MENACE was BORING. saber fight only thing worth watching.

I'm not sure how any Star Wars fan could hate this movie. It had so much action, so much emotion, so much drama. IT was truly an intense film with so many awesome scenes.
I don't see how anyone could call the prequels terrible. I'm sorry, but I watched the original three movies and they are not nearly as intense as the newer ones. Yes, they were great films, but I don't see how one could like the original films and dislike the new ones - if anything, it's vice versa.

@arsenalrulez1000 Ewan did like a perfect tribute to Alec Guiness. He studied all of his mannerisms and really tried to do him justice. Him and Ian McDermid saved this movie in a lot of ways, two very tremendously talented actors.

Not everyone will agree, but, imo, this was the best Star Wars film. It was dark, intense, and surprisingly visceral. For any fan who felt cheated when Phantom Menace came out, this movie will make up for it.

I agree with them Episode 1 sucked, and I can hardly watch it, but that doesn't automatically mean the others are bad. Episode 2 was a good sifi flick and this one was a classic imho

Ah, good times. This trailer was the best. If only Lucas could make the movies again with the cgi we have now. At least then Lucas could show how jedi really fight instead of just swinging lightsabers. There would be force blows and force lightning everywhere like the force unleashed. If only.

@ryhorn100 Even if he did that, the footage would be the same. I'm talking about redoing the fight scenes, the stories fine but the fight scenes is basically two men with swords. It's not two jedi fighting. If two jedi were fighting, the aftermath would look like a nuclear bomb. I'm for real too. The jedi were suppose to be powered beasts. That's what i want to see.

@Equistta The thing is, that by this point in the Jedi's History they'd lost alot of their power. They weren't the unholy powerhouses they were in the Old Republic. They had been peacekeepers for so long that the call of war wasn't there anymore and it made them weaker. before the Separatists, they Jedi hadn't faced a real opponent since the old republic era. The Sith had been hiding in secret for the past few thousand years building their power, and Palpatine was the result of it.

@Equistta They are powered beasts but lucas made sure to differentiate their power from magic, in the end they are just men. Powerful men fighting on a level we couldn't match. They aren't just gonna run around using the force to blow things up, that's not how the jedi are envisioned. It's the retarded EU that makes them too much like superheros or something

@JohnLufyros Episode VII? No point in that. You'd have to find other actors to play the roles of Luke Skywalker and the other surviving main characters. But there's no one who could do a better job than the original cast, and they've all grown old. Besides, all kinds of stories have been illustrated in Star Wars video games and books set after Episode VI. What more do you need?

In fact, I think a new history in Star Wars would be a good idea. But it would take an immense amount of thought and creativity to compare with an epic story that sci-fi fans have bonded with for decades.

I felt that nostalgic excitement watching this again. It was only 5 years ago, but I got nostalgic either way. I was a senior in high school, and I the anticipation that my friends and I felt was palpable. This teaser makes it feel like non-stop brooding epic badassery, but the movie itself isn't so serious. I still love the film franchise anyway.

@RedIV haha Nostalgic ?... this was literaly a few years ago ... i feel that remembering watching empire strikes back and return of the jedi on original cinema release.... ,all the prequel star wars movies were shit compared to the hype and buzz that was around at the time of the originals in cinemas ..... when those special effects were outstanding and ground breaking compared to everything else at that time,everything is just cgi now,so nothing dazzles anymore

@RedIV agreed this was by far the best out of the 3 prequels it was actually a pretty good depiction of anakin's rage and jealousy. however i just didnt like episodes 1&2 or the new pointless 3d clonewars(hell Star Wars: Clone Wars 2003 TV series had a way better explanation leading to episode 3 than episode 2 did)
