The Bolshoi performed Don Quixoti in Chapel Hill, NC of their 2009 tour with Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev the principal dancers and then the second night they presented Swan Lake. The Bolshoi is unbelievable and to see the dancers live is a thrill!
yes zakharova has a wonderful technique but her dance is more for soft ballets like giselle, la fille du pharon and even swan lake in that ballets zakharova is a princess but she's not my faovrite kitri and i go0tta admit osipova not always looks good in soft ballet but i think shes a charming sylphide a and is a very gorgeous ramze and in 2nd act of giselle is beautiful and in the peasaent pas de deux too and in contemporary work shes amazing please osipova is amazing in other thing
oh my, i saw their quixote pas de deux in live theatre, it was stunning. completely unbelievable that something like that could be done. he was surprisingly good, not much taller than 1.60m and just 18 years old; but still marvelous, divine
i would love to see ospiova expand her horizan and go to the states for a little bit. She should also try another brand in pointe shoe other than russian made because she needs a shoe that won't melt quite like the russian shoes after a while. Do you think someone "born and bred bolshoi" should try something different and expand what they already know?

She is absolutely incredible, just turned 21. I still think Zacharova is the best, she is technically superior, but Osipova is certainly not far behind.
Even though she isn't the best technician I've ever seen, she's an ARTIST. Far more important that her dancing be from an inside flame, and portray a role...though her dancing is very good! Stupid question, but where does she dance?

Osipova is okay but alina somova from mariinsky is way better , vasiliev is really good - i see rusians are losing their traditional male dancer style - they are moving on to a more american male ballet style like ABT
Yes, Osipova great. The amazingly beautiful, elegant form that has been required of ballerinas since the mid sixties usually dampens the fire. Not with Maximova. Not with Osipova.

Big jumps and large scale dancing is very much her thing. But subtleties allude her all together. Zakharova is the most versatile of the two.

Zakharova and Osipova are physically so different that I think their technique is hard to compare. Each is pretty much a master in their own field.
