Zeus punished men beacsue a god has brought fire to prometeus. so zeus sent a box filled with all the worlds sins. (seven sins) aphrodite felt bad and added hope to the box. that in the face of human condition , we may hope to strive to better our world. that was the sense. but when i see zealous rel;igious individuals that cling to hope as gods promise, i cling to my sense and say hope is a demon bitch.. in fact pandoras box is a replacment story of genesis adam and eve!!! aphrodite is christ!
found this: It is also argued that hope was simply one of the evils in the jar, the false kind of hope, and was no good for mankind, since, later in the poem, Hesiod writes that hope is empty (498) and no good (500) and makes mankind lazy by taking away his industriousness, making him prone to evil.
I think that there are many interpretations and versions of the story.
You're wrong, the story is hopelessness was kept in the box, not hope. The side you referred to was another variation of the story, that kinda mixed together. The other variation stated everything good and dear to us was in the box, and as it was opened everything escaped, from the box, and our lives. Leaving one last thing that did not escape us, Hope.
Hope remains within and has no external influence over anything else. Hope works from within, only. All the other plagues/evils are free to beset and directly influence externally. It is not the story that is flawed, but one's understanding of it.
perhaps in the battle to get all of the wickedness into the jar to begin with, hope was sacrificed to ensure that all of them would go in so it could be sealed.. ya never know! They had some pretty big hope of getting out..

hope was released.... there are a few versions that say hope wasnt released, but most of the stories say that pandora opened the box out of curiosity and all these evils flew out and she closed it as quickly as possible to try and keep some in, but really all she trapped there was hope. the story goes that she then heard hope begging to be let out and she figured there wasnt anything else evil that could be let out so she opened the box one more time and out came hope.
Hope is a bad thing -you are brilliant ,people read this story many times and never figure out that hope is a bad thing -Hope is what all religions give and promise ..hope is a bad thing because it takes away the power that imidiate action can attain for human beings ..Klap klap klap ;-)))
I also find another flaw. The story starts, " All the world was filled with men and when the men got powerful enough to even challenge olmpus, zeus made a strange and NEW creature called womanwhich destracted the men so they didn't work anymore.. blah blah blah and on the story goes. but here's the thing. If "...all the world was filled with man" and zeus "made a new creature called woman..." then how exactly were the men reproducing? they only had sperm.. how does this make sense??
@gabbiebaby14 This telling is indicative that females were not "women." It is a notion that they were not labeled of their own and left powerless. With the advent or onset of the creation of a woman, we have the first female capable of real influence/power over men. Females existed, but without a label of gender regarding worth.
It depends on why she closed the lid on hope (hope being a catalyst for change). Some say it was fear. If it was fear, then courageous acts will release hope. Trouble is, according to Hesiod, Zeus made her so that her infulence makes women a curse on men due to unhelpful attributes various gods gave her. Only wealth mitigates the problems in women's nature. Remember, Hesiod version is not the only one.
HOPE DID GOT OUT of the box, it was the last one, and it means that after all chaos and problems happen in our life, we gotta be certain that hope will arrive. I dont believe in greek myths (well.. neither do the greeks themselves anymore) but I gotta correct, the story is well made and it has a good message. Thats my opinion. :)
Actually at the end Promethius encourages Pandora to open the box as surely no worse could happen :) Hope is then released and that is why wherever you get negativity you get hope to heal it in a sense.

Kratos released hope into the world at the end of God Of War III...That is how we have hope in the world.

Maybe hope was another problem, but it was kept in the box. So when we're having troubles, we're glad that hope isn't along with them?

i dont beleive in that stuff but the thing is if hope and all evil was kept in the box ...humans would not be humans , more robots then human
masharcool123 2 years ago
yes it doz, ur story is short. after zeus found out he let out hope so tht mankind can deal with those troubles.
