at 1:55 when its said it looks like the drawing was done "in a heartbeat" i somehow.... doubt it. I love Pete's messy wonky style, but in his more realistic drawings (that pseudo anime-ish kid with the sword), I wouldn't be surprised if its harder for him to do. Cool doodles nonetheless.

Hmm, yeah Pete sure got something. Looks alot like my own, but as we go on his stuff seem to get so much better. My sketch books stuff tend to look like this, my biggest problem to start out with was that i tended to take every drawing/sketch way too serious. I never loosed up, like it had to come out perfect EVERYTIME. Basic mistake. croquis is so much fun because its so simple/flowy. I'll have to admit Pete's portrait has freaking nice !

In my opinion, every artist have their very own drawing styles/techniques. Even though it may not look nice to another person, the artist himself/herself will still love it because it is of their own creation. So no one can really judge people by the kind of drawings they do. I'm a student too by the way. And I have my own sketchbook, and I would have to say it is quite demoralizing to see other students drawing hell lot better than yours. I love my drawings they tell the world about my thoughts

Sketch books are suppose to be for practice. It's a place where you can scribble unfinished work and the like so that you can figure out problems (line work, anatomy, space, shading, developing a style). A sketchbook is Not a final piece waiting for critique or criticism. I'm sure these students have plenty of work that goes through the critique process. SO, even if you don't like this guys sketchbook is very good. He's working out style, characters, expressions, space and line work. Very nice.

Art is a subjective term; its a based on a personal belief of what art is. I don't know wat KevxKun means by a pure artist but i do agree Pete's sketchbook is not consistently good. There were some decent drawings but Matt should offer constructive criticism bc it helps viewers and Pete to improve. Just keep in mind Pete is taking the course 2 b a better artist. U go 2 school 2 learn wat u don't no

isnt it bad to tell a young student hes drawings are god when they are not, i wouldnt use beautifull to describe any of petes drawings it is damaging ,that doesnt mean pete is not god you need to finish lots of sketcbooks to truly be artist lots of blank pages were you can put your mistakes and get rid af them all. and youre finished sketchbooks should be better than the last .

Nothing special about Pete's sketchbook. .All artist are drawing like that now a days.I don't know whats worse the fact that you ppl can't see it or that you can never find a pure artist anymore.

I have to agree with WarDog, though, I'm not gonna go as far as saying his work is shit. But, I will say that he should drop this pure artist crap. People choose what they want to draw. If someone wants to focus on cartoons more than something else, so be it. A sketchbook is for sketching, for either fun or practice. Are there people a lot better than Pete, sure. Does it really matter? Hell no. Art, like you said is personal expression, what you make of it.
