Genesis/MegaDrive may have the blast processing. But the Super Nintendo has mode 7 and can scale and rotate objects that Genesis don't but oh no, not without that 32-bit were talking about. The Genesis alone.
Although they had "blast processing," The SNES had far superior sound, and a great library of games. Now I am a Sega fan, but the SNES is my favorite console of all time, hands down.

I always thought both were equaly fast and that the SNES had slighly better graphics based on what their Mortal Kombats looked like. Also the SNES had more buttons on it's controller than Sega Genesis which kinda limited you a lot fighting games like Street Fighter were you had to switch betwen punches and kicks with the Genesis controller (unless you had one of those 6 buttons controllers).
personally i like both. is it really necessary to fight between which is better? i mean i love both of the game libraries they had. sega had sonic, golden axe, phantasy star, shining force while nintendo had super mario world, super metroid, megaman, final fantasy and some other cool rpg games :D

Atleast nintendo didn't have to come out with crappy stuff like the sega cd(aside from the sonic cd game) and the 32x......and (Just my opinion) nintendo had way better characters. I still think sonic's cool though,(Incase you all think I hate him) but he's the only famous character I can think of from sega and you can't always like a company for one character.(Although gameplay's the most important aspect of a game.) Now I admit the gameplay was nice, but still nintendo soon surpassed that too.

SNES and Genesis have both 16 bit but SNES has in the cartridge special chip like Super FX that Sega Genesis hasn't. The blast process is only the music (i don't say is great or not, i say for the different instruments).

@StephenAlexWalker the ps1 was released in 94 in japan, it wasnt untill 95 it was released world wide,, and up untill about 96, super nintendo was the leading console in sales and market, and the Sega Genesis/ megadrive was in 2nd,, the sega and snes 16 bit consoles dominated the market from early to mid 90's it wasnt untill after 96 and beyond when they was comming out of the 16 bit consoles when things started to change, but sega and nintendo were the top leading consoles till 96 on market
Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger = SNES wins, also = Square aren't as good as they were back then. Those games are still worth playing, do yourself a favor and download ZSNES and those ROMs.
This is how I see them, Super Nintendo had more unique characters for children and adults when Sega was mostly known for sonic and streets of rage. Sega did much better advertising then Nintendo in North America but then created a failure of a company when they killed off what they're fans bought. Dreamcast was better then most systems on the market great everything for a video game system but by then they killed off their market place and Playstation 2 took over with the multi-media aspect.

I still think sonic's cool though,(Incase you all think I hate him) but he's the only famous character I can think of from sega and you can't always like a company for one character.(Although gameplay's the most important aspect of a game.) Now I admit the gameplay was nice, but still nintendo soon surpassed that too.

I was a Sega kid :D. Have half of you guys even played a genesis before? it's up par with the SNES for games and it has a way faster processor. You shouldn't compare the Genesis with the SNES cause SNES came out 3 years after Genesis so it had a advantage as technology improved then. Compare it to the NES. Who needs kid games when you got a console with attitude and actually has games with blood in it.

Between Green Hills Zone and Marble Zone, I'd take Green Hills any day. But I have noticed that Sonic fans are divided between the Genesis era and post-Dreamcast era games.

Sadly they got too cocky for their own good, released too many attachments/variations, lost money, Saturn released with confusion, Dreamcast sold too cheap and underloved due to previous reputations... they fucked themselves. If they spent a little more time on the Saturn, skipped the Sega CD/Nomad/Game Gear/32X completely, and kept the support up... yeah...

@InstinctualJealousy The controllers were 35bucks a pop vs 25 for playstation plus that had a dvd player. Consumers are smart and know what they want. They want the biggest bang for the buck. This is why the 360 does so well in my opinion, their cheap under a buck-fifty for one, cheap premium quality online multi player, games that never get old; example halo3,gears, call of duty black ops, etc. Yea see were I'm going? People aren't afraid to spend a little if the return is amazing no sub-par.

SNES and Genesis have both 16 bit but SNES has in the cartridge special chip like Super FX that Sega Genesis hasn't. The blast process is only the music (i don't say is great or not, i say for the different instruments).

This is how I see them, Super Nintendo had more unique characters for children and adults when Sega was mostly known for sonic and streets of rage. Sega did much better advertising then Nintendo in North America but then created a failure of a company when they killed off what they're fans bought. Dreamcast was better then most systems on the market great everything for a video game system but by then they killed off their market place and Playstation 2 took over with the multi-media aspect.
