At exactly 3:00 Chet misses one and drops his left hand, shakes his head just a little and keeps right on playing. What a great talent he was. And what a treat to hear he and Klugh together. I'm going on vacation today. Someone please call me when rap is over or if music ever comes back to being this good.
When this aired I was in front of the tv with a tape recorder and at 2:20 it was hard to keep quiet , but I'm glad I did ,'cause this was the best duet that will ever be.
At 2:59 Chet misses the last note of his run. A right hand finger misses it. Its vibrato watch his finger but theres no sound). He drops his hand and shakes his head but the pro that he is he just goes on. At 3:11 they look at each other and seem to laugh about it. All Class. God- Let us have Chet back and we will give you Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga.
I was at this show. It was in 1980 at the Opry House, & it was called "A Tribute to Chet Atkins". It was a gig thrown by his friends, & the tickets cost $50.00 each, a fortune back then. I was the biggest Chet fan ever, & a lady where i worked gave me 2 tickets 4 free. I thought I'd died & gone 2 heaven that night. almost everybody was there but Jerry, & he sent a video (or audio, I don't recall) of himself that they played for Chet to hear.
This is really a testimony to how a great melody when played by great artists, and the string arrangement is quite unique for a song this kind. Terrific.
Good song. Great players. But too bad it isn't just the 2 of them. When the conductor stepped up I thought I'd been placed "on hold" or walked into an old department store or hotel lobby. It's the guitars that "sing" here but instrumental versions run the risk of sounding like "elevator music". Harry Manx does fine versions of this, with and without Kevin Breit.
thanks for the repost i have loved this since the first time i saw it. i have learned so much from it. 2 truly gifted musicians. hard work and countless hours of dedication and practice. maybe i can one day be of a similar quality
Thanks for posting this again. As much as I like the other version, this one shows two masters of the art at there best! When you can play off each other so effortlessly it truly is music at it's finest.
Thanks for posting this again, this version beats the other one hands down, what about that run of old Chet at 2:25! Both of them are playing like it's effort less. It gets no better than these two.
Thanks you for posting this again. Hope they don't keep deleting this awesome classic. A longer version of this song by Earl Klugh, not the video, is available on Earl Klugh cd Best of Earl Klugh Vol 2. Once you listen to it, you're going to fall in love all over again.

若い頃FMでとあるDJがやっていた番組でこの曲が流れてて、何も知らない私は懐かしさと親近感を覚えました。今聞いてても色褪せる事はなく鮮やかに甦ります。
