In other words, a reflection appears, and a girls sees it and assumes it to be a ghost. The lesson is not to take things at face value, but to question them and not jump into assumptions. Otherwise you will likely fall into religion, conspiracy theories w/o wight, ufos, so on and so forth.
this doesn't prove anything. most ppl see ghosts in their own homes, or in places not rigged for 'profit' this is like saying love isn't real and showing u how some lads will fake affection bc they jus like having sex lol
@KenobiOfficial I don't think you are adept at determining fact from fiction if you believe in ghosts. There is no scientific evidence. It's most likely nothing but humans doing what they do best, thinking they have a bigger role in the universe then they do. Do you believe in hallucination? Do you not think more likely then suspending the laws of the known universe to accommodate something that needs a colossal amount of explanation that people may just be seeing things?
@MissStephie1013 Wow. I don't even know what my comment was here. But.. I did know that. Science is the first to admit that it doesn't have all the answers.
@MissStephie1013 Maybe not. But if science doesn't have the answer then nothing does. Do you actually understand what science is and how it works, dear? I suspect not.
first chi, then mediums and now ghosts, derren brown talks a lot of shit... well if people havent experienced certain things and dont have an open mind then they can be controlled to believe the shit that comes out of this guys mouth.
Im not saying im right and hes wrong but what im saying is that i know what ive experienced is real and not just a figment of my imagination.
Well you have fun non believers, while your doing that il be practicing my chi, astral projection and psychic powers :)
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Nobody gives a shit about a few people who talk about seeing ghosts.. It has all been tested by experiments and proven wrong countless of times.. Well, we won't challenge your assertion that you saw a ghost.. But we will say that people have also sworn that they were abducted by aliens, carried by a tornado for over a hundred kilometers, and arrived on earth by the Haley's comet..
@remoraid7 Not entirely discounting what you said. Sure, plenty of people let their imaginations get the better of them and some, indeed believe their own fantastical delusions. But there are millions of perfectly logical, mentally stable people out there who have had experiences that cannot be explained scientifically or psychologically. Skeptics can be just as bad as believers because they are too quick to dismiss someone's claim as a trick of the mind.
@seansalvador1 I can't explain my own experience. I was on Youtube and I made a perfectly reasonable comment and some twat who thinks he knows it all claimed he could one-up any example I gave him. It's beyond fucking belief. But I know it really happened and nobody can explain it away.
@kingklabe Have you ever seen situations where someone's own mind deceives them? Like a trick or a mirage, someone believes their senses so much that they can't accept the alternative. Then it can go further where people have cognitive dissonance where they merge ideas together to get an acceptable outcome.
@kingklabe So while I don't know about your example, I've read several before. I believe Dan Dennett brought up one in a book - there was a lady who was told that when she was really young (about 4) she was kidnapped and she had a strong containing all of the details of the situation and the kidnapper. However, years later she found that it didn't actually happen, instead someone had suggested it to her (or so such - I forget) and she had constructed it in her mind. The mind is a powerful thing.
So the logic here seems to be that if people can fake one or two videos than ergo, we can draw the conclusion that they must all be fraudulent. Got it.
@SelfJourney SelfJourney, you are spot on. The "science of scams" should be called "science of how we make people think the paranormal is fake because it can be faked".

That was a good trick. These kinds of skeptics have an important thing they do: but it doesn't disprove "ghosts" or "paranormal" things at all, it merely shows how to trick someone about the subject.
Extraordinary things require extraordinary evidence. Maybe, yes. But maybe they require a bit more skepticism for most. The hard line skeptics are rarely skeptical of their own skepticism though. There are scientist who honestly study the strange things of the world like Rupert Sheldrake though.
@RevFaris no, it doesn't disprove ghost, but it proves how stuff can be faked; which makes this infinitely more likely than a real ghost.
but skepticism is requiring evidence before believing something; the "hard-line" skeptics would not be skeptics if you show them prove and they refuse it
@nailo1 why does it make it "infinitely more likely, then a real ghost"? I wouldn't think so necessarily , if we are talking about the whole world. Sure tricksters are around, but 99% of the time even? mmm
What I mean about what I called the hard line skeptics, is that they rarely bother to look at "paranormal things" where as someone like Sheldrake, a biologist like Dawkins I think, seemed too seek out this stuff.
@RevFaris in the natural world, natural explanations are the most likely explanation, for example me folding my laundry than fairies (extreme example)
a paranormal explanation (ghost) by definition is not natural, meaning that all natural explanations come first.
the skeptic-thing, is really just a difference in definition. if you have real evidence then a skeptic is not a skeptic if he simply discounts it. (though degree to how much credence he gives the evidence is a difference question
@nailo1@nailo1 a meeting between Dawkins and Sheldrake happened when Dawkins was filming a show.
The Biologist Rupert Sheldrake says "The previous week I had sent Richard copies of some of my papers, published in peer-reviewed journals, so that he could look at the data."
“I don’t want to discuss evidence” Dawkins says in response. These were experiments in telepathy I believe.

@nailo1 since I couldn't send the link, I better clarify what article I was talking about: something written by Sheldrake on his meeting with Dawkins; how he felt he was not interested his scientific research into telepathy, I think.
I think he had a collection of "peer reviewed" papers, but he doesn't say which.
Randi's view on these experiments might be interesting.
I'm watching a talk Sheldrake did called "the extended mind: recent experimental evidence"
@nailo1 he is looking at taboo subjects I guess. His theory of "morphic fields" interests me a bit. It seems to require a different way of look at ourselves. I guess what counts is if scientist can reliably duplicate his experiments. I enjoy reading his detractors views, then his, though. Not sure if the Journal of the society for psychical research is a reliable journal but will look into it. The "Journal of Scientific Exploration" seems interesting-and some others that he's in- I think
@RevFaris i saw that stuff; something about morpho-genesis. i haven't read about it yet(other than the reactions both for and against, but the problem for me seems like it needs more research; which should be interesting.

Imagine 100 people stand on a stage and perform a task that appears to proove supernatural power. They are asked after the performance, "How did you do that?". Ninety-nine of the participants reply, "It was a trick". One person says, "I have powers that come from beyond the moon!"
Wouldn't you feel silly, sticking to that last person's testimony?
If a professional magician can do duplicate the result, it's not supernatural.
So awesome seeing Pepper's Ghost. That was one illusion I never imagined I would get to see preformed in a way where I could experience the ghost. Such an awesome illusion.
Although we can replicate paranormal activity using special effects....duhh.......still does not mean everyting else showing paranormal acitivity is un-real.
the fact that they create this visuals and duplicate the apperiance of a ghost, it doesn't mean it don't exist.
My Brother used to see a old man standing in his room once when he was 4 years old. When he discibed this man to my mother she relised that it was very simmilair to her father. (my gandfather). The thing is that my grandfather died 7 years BEFORE my brother was born and due some reasons there were no pictures or what so ever of my grandfather. not in our house, aswel as in my granny's
Oh Lawdy! If anyone watched that "ghost on video" before it was revealed as a scam and actually believed it is pretty Goddamned retarded. Acting was so bad I was literally sitting here in a facepalm.
this guy is retarded. may be true, but there are no mirrors in the woods. i believe in ghosts. this guy just "knows it all" and looks like a petiphyle so who cares what he thinks!
Well, in one of the island.. someone has written a Thesis about the supernatural world that can be learned by empirical.. I mean, u can see them, hear them and touch them.. there's no point denying that something like supernatural is really exist, only because we can't explain it...
Yes these scams do happen ......doesn't mean that it's all made up and doesn't exist . My ex girlfriend was messing about taking photo's of me and when we went and looked back at the pictures there was a ghost of a woman behind me. I showed many people that photo and they all seen the same thing. I have also seen a ghost twice and the only way to believe in the paranormal is to experience yourself and not from others.
Ohh, you try to explain everything with science??? I think you would like to visit indonesia sometimes.. coz it's very supernatural here, you can see ghost everywhere!!! and sometimes we get along with them.. and about magic, they (badguy) usually use it to make money, to make them stronger, to hurt other or even to kill their enemy.. it's happening here, and it's real...
@ardiantoT2007 Well, if you can prove it, contact James Randi, as I'm sure he'll be happy to give you the $1,000,000 from the paranormal challenge if you can.
@carameltoff - She's acting for sure. And the female presented is terrible too. If you listen she pauses half way through ever single sentence and emphasizes the last word before she stops for no particular reason.
@WillShakespeare2007 Well the female presenter may just be a little nervous? Most people would speak differantly and with unexplained pauses if speaking on camera, even those of us who think we are not at all prone to be camera shy. In fact, if she were an actor, I'd expect the opposite: for it to be a well rehursed speech that was recited off by heart. The girl who saw the 'ghost' genuinly appeared creeped out. I'm not sure why you have immediatly predudiced yourself against this video...
@carameltoff - I'm not being "prejudiced", chill out. There is a comment section for a reason and that is so people watching can comment on what they think of the video. So my comment is I think actors were used and I think the presenter is pausing every few words in a very unnatural way. The illusion is very interesting and well put together. Although I am not sure being "scammed" by fake ghosts is a major problem that needs top be tackled. Why do you feel the need to comment about comments?
@WillShakespeare2007 Why do I feel the need to comment about comments? Like you said, there is a comments section for a reason, and a 'reply' button for a reason... take your own advice. And the it can be a major problem that needs tackling, that's the point. Some people are making millions by exploiting our nievity.
@carameltoff - I don't really understand what you problem is? I commented on the production standards of the video. You might thing she is the best presenter since David Attenborough but I think she is very poor. I love Darren Brown other work and I think exposing frauds is very important work. His Messiah shoe is my favourite for this reason and wish he would do more work like that. Maybe I am unaware of something but I don't think anyone is using this as a "scam," care to enlighten me?
@ZandiDolly thats true, but as he believes it isnt possible he is unlikely to try and prove it even willingly as the implicit biases he holds will prevent any such thing happening. I presume he would state that it is impossible to sense spirits as there are no such thing as spirits, but people who believe they actually sense spirits are probably either halluncinating, misreading their environment, explaining their curcumstances incorrectly, or the frontal lobe is overactive...
@ccm1139 by "implicit biases" you mean, requiring a shred of evidence? All he's doing is showing here that you should not believe everything you see. Just because you don't have an explanation for something, doesn't mean there is no explanation. It's called critical thinking. Whereas invoking the supernatural when there are perfectly natural reasons for an occurrence... that's called wishful thinking.
@bmx0man No, I just came here to enjoy the stupidity you pseudoskeptics, like Derren Brown, claim. It amuses me how you idiots call these videos science when it is in fact, pseudoscience. These videos are nothing but ridicule and you call these videos science? Do you even know what is the meaning of science?
This is certainly 'ONE' way of producing a ghost effect, however it doesnt account for the ghosts I've seen in my bedroom with the door closed and noone else around. Nor does it account for the millions of people who have seen real ghosts.
I think most people in the world are smart enough to realise by now that ghosts are real.
@TheWorldIsRound2012 Nothing EVER has been proven "Legit" in the ENTIRE world, no UFO´s no ghosts, NOTHING paranormal. And, your own logic have to tell you by your nature, none of such things does Exist. And if there are such things. Why can´t there be ANY solid proof AT all. Saying MILLIONS of people around the world see, and hear things. But NOTHING proofs the dreamworld they are in!!
@PonyAndSmooth ... so I guess your idea of "proven" means that someone u respect (either your teacher, government leader etc) hasn't confirmed their presence. UFO's, ghosts, extra-terrestrials, take your pick... they're all real my friend. Instead of waiting for someone of high authority to confirm it all, how about conducting some of your own research?
@jacobromu ... have you got any evidence that the sun appears red other than eyewitness testimony? NO! But you've seen it for yourself so you know its the truth.
@TheWorldIsRound2012 "Appears" is fine. You don't need evidence that this sort of powers "appear" real. I'm willing to grant that. But actually being real? that's different.
@TheWorldIsRound2012 That's an argumentum ad populum. Its a logical fallacy that presupposes that the reality of something is strengthened by the number of people that believe it. That is not true. Most people were geocentric 4000 years ago. Also, there are 4 times more non-believers than believers and there are no scientists that believe in ghosts. The argument is a worthless one as you can see. You also don't assume hallucination or mental illness, or cognitive dissonance as a factor.
@TheWorldIsRound2012 I cant. You are a comment on a youtube video to me. One look at your video shows me that you have a predisposition to mystical thinking and are therefore extremely likely to misinterpret observations and/or be deceitful to yourself and others. Only you know the answer to this. But, your credentials as a scientist are questionable.
@RickyPayneTV ... predisposition to mystical thinking and an insight into mystical thinking are 2 different things. How about conducting your own research to venture beyond what you have been TOLD is true. How about investigating for yourself instead of blindly discrediting something because someone TOLD you it's not possible or not true. Gravity is an invisible force, do you therefore still believe the world is flat?
@TheWorldIsRound2012 And you call yourself a scientist? 1) I used to believe in ghosts, I did my research 2) Gravity and a spherical earth are not mutually exclusive. There have been many reforms to the theory of gravity. The pre-socratics believed that the earth was in upward travel, newton sorted the maths out. we now know that newton was only partly right. There is a major difference between gravity and ghosts pal. 1 is observable, the other is impossible. You should do your research mate.
@TheWorldIsRound2012 Also, that whole "Dont believe what you are TOLD" Bullshit is conspirital bullshit and shows that you have no idea how science is conducted and no idea how the world works and ipso facto you reveal your lack of intelligence. Most people I know don't just accept what people say, they read and research the subject. science is open and free. You should have a look at some peer reviewed cosmology papers and then you will see that you have to do a lot more than just SEE a ghost.
@TheWorldIsRound2012 I am an atheist. Wrong again. It is funny you mentioned that though seeing as belief in the supernatural is religious. Belief without evidence is religious. And believing in something that was created by man is religious. I recommend that you do a course in the history of western philosophy and maybe a psychology course. I also suggest that you send an email out to S.E.T.I and learn about the work they do looking for extraterrestrial life. You might just learn something.
@RickyPayneTV I suppose u believe SETI is a genuine program do you? I guess you also believe your government is honest with you about everything? I came to the conclusion that you might be religious based on the fact that u clearly just believe what you are told like a good little sheep
@TheWorldIsRound2012 You sound like such a moron. I suppose everything that contradicts your beliefs are part of a conspiracy against you? That is textbook cognitive dissonance alleviation. SETI is sponsored by both government and private companies and the data is published publicly. Why don't you conspiracy theorists ever think? You are the only sheep. Following the conspiracy herd. And when anyone goes against your ignorant beliefs, you cry foul instead of adapting your presuppositions.
Like i understand what your saying about the pounds. However i wouldn't be foolish enough to fall for that. First of all i would count any money that's given to me directly. When you're given money at the bank don't you count it? When given money back from shopping for groceries don't you count it? Well maybe some don't. However this guys isn't tricking people with money. He's doing it with white paper. It's bullshit. Anyone who believes this or would fall for this themselves is a complete moron
there is an advert by the side of this video advertising a reading from a 'world class psychic'. if that's not irony, i don't know what is.

To the believer,
Imagine 100 people stand on a stage and perform a task that appears to proove supernatural power.

My Brother used to see a old man standing in his room once when he was 4 years old. When he discibed this man to my mother she relised that it was very simmilair to her father. (my gandfather). Well, in one of the island.. someone has written a Thesis about the supernatural world that can be learned by empirical.. I mean, u can see them, hear them and touch them.. there's no point denying that something like supernatural is really exist, only because we can't explain it...
ardiantoT2007 10 months ago
@ardiantoT2007 - no, and skeptics don't. They just haven't seen anything that convinces them that supernatural and paranormal things happen.
JBofBrisbane 9 months ago
Yes these scams do happen ......doesn't mean that it's all made up and doesn't exist . My ex girlfriend was messing about taking photo's of me and when we went and looked back at the pictures there was a ghost of a woman behind me. I showed many people that photo and they all seen the same thing. I have also seen a ghost twice and the only way to believe in the paranormal is to experience yourself and not from others.

@WillShakespeare2007 Erm... She wasn't acting? They say at 3:28 that they invited unknowing suspects to take part to see real people's reactions...
carameltoff 1 year ago
@carameltoff - She's acting for sure. And the female presented is terrible too. If you listen she pauses half way through ever single sentence and emphasizes the last word before she stops for no particular reason.
WillShakespeare2007 1 year ago
@WillShakespeare2007 Well the female presenter may just be a little nervous? Most people would speak differantly and with unexplained pauses if speaking on camera, even those of us who think we are not at all prone to be camera shy. In fact, if she were an actor, I'd expect the opposite: for it to be a well rehursed speech that was recited off by heart. The girl who saw the 'ghost' genuinly appeared creeped out. I'm not sure why you have immediatly predudiced yourself against this video...
carameltoff 1 year ago
@carameltoff - I'm not being "prejudiced", chill out. There is a comment section for a reason and that is so people watching can comment on what they think of the video. So my comment is I think actors were used and I think the presenter is pausing every few words in a very unnatural way. The illusion is very interesting and well put together. Although I am not sure being "scammed" by fake ghosts is a major problem that needs top be tackled. Why do you feel the need to comment about comments?
WillShakespeare2007 1 year ago
@WillShakespeare2007 Why do I feel the need to comment about comments? Like you said, there is a comments section for a reason, and a 'reply' button for a reason... take your own advice. And the it can be a major problem that needs tackling, that's the point. Some people are making millions by exploiting our nievity.
carameltoff 1 year ago
@carameltoff - I don't really understand what you problem is? I commented on the production standards of the video. You might thing she is the best presenter since David Attenborough but I think she is very poor. I love Darren Brown other work and I think exposing frauds is very important work. His Messiah shoe is my favourite for this reason and wish he would do more work like that. Maybe I am unaware of something but I don't think anyone is using this as a "scam," care to enlighten me?

@ccm1139 just because he doesn't believe in it doesn't me he can't prove if its possible.
ZandiDolly 1 year ago
@ZandiDolly thats true, but as he believes it isnt possible he is unlikely to try and prove it even willingly as the implicit biases he holds will prevent any such thing happening. I presume he would state that it is impossible to sense spirits as there are no such thing as spirits, but people who believe they actually sense spirits are probably either halluncinating, misreading their environment, explaining their curcumstances incorrectly, or the frontal lobe is overactive...
ccm1139 1 year ago
@ccm1139 by "implicit biases" you mean, requiring a shred of evidence? All he's doing is showing here that you should not believe everything you see. Just because you don't have an explanation for something, doesn't mean there is no explanation. It's called critical thinking. Whereas invoking the supernatural when there are perfectly natural reasons for an occurrence... that's called wishful thinking.

JBofBrisbane 9 months ago
This is certainly 'ONE' way of producing a ghost effect, however it doesnt account for the ghosts I've seen in my bedroom with the door closed and noone else around. Nor does it account for the millions of people who have seen real ghosts.
I think most people in the world are smart enough to realise by now that ghosts are real.
TheWorldIsRound2012 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 Nothing EVER has been proven "Legit" in the ENTIRE world, no UFO´s no ghosts, NOTHING paranormal. And, your own logic have to tell you by your nature, none of such things does Exist. And if there are such things. Why can´t there be ANY solid proof AT all. Saying MILLIONS of people around the world see, and hear things. But NOTHING proofs the dreamworld they are in!!
PonyAndSmooth 1 year ago
@PonyAndSmooth ... so I guess your idea of "proven" means that someone u respect (either your teacher, government leader etc) hasn't confirmed their presence. UFO's, ghosts, extra-terrestrials, take your pick... they're all real my friend. Instead of waiting for someone of high authority to confirm it all, how about conducting some of your own research?
TheWorldIsRound2012 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 Have any evidence that's not eyewitness testimony?
jacobromu 1 year ago
@jacobromu ... have you got any evidence that the sun appears red other than eyewitness testimony? NO! But you've seen it for yourself so you know its the truth.
TheWorldIsRound2012 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 "Appears" is fine. You don't need evidence that this sort of powers "appear" real. I'm willing to grant that. But actually being real? that's different.
jacobromu 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 That's an argumentum ad populum. Its a logical fallacy that presupposes that the reality of something is strengthened by the number of people that believe it. That is not true. Most people were geocentric 4000 years ago. Also, there are 4 times more non-believers than believers and there are no scientists that believe in ghosts. The argument is a worthless one as you can see. You also don't assume hallucination or mental illness, or cognitive dissonance as a factor.
ThePsydome 1 year ago
@ThePsydome im a scientist/engineer... i have seen ghosts. Explain that one Einstein
TheWorldIsRound2012 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 I cant. You are a comment on a youtube video to me. One look at your video shows me that you have a predisposition to mystical thinking and are therefore extremely likely to misinterpret observations and/or be deceitful to yourself and others. Only you know the answer to this. But, your credentials as a scientist are questionable.
RickyPayneTV 1 year ago
@RickyPayneTV ... predisposition to mystical thinking and an insight into mystical thinking are 2 different things. How about conducting your own research to venture beyond what you have been TOLD is true. How about investigating for yourself instead of blindly discrediting something because someone TOLD you it's not possible or not true. Gravity is an invisible force, do you therefore still believe the world is flat?
TheWorldIsRound2012 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 And you call yourself a scientist? 1) I used to believe in ghosts, I did my research 2) Gravity and a spherical earth are not mutually exclusive. There have been many reforms to the theory of gravity. The pre-socratics believed that the earth was in upward travel, newton sorted the maths out. we now know that newton was only partly right. There is a major difference between gravity and ghosts pal. 1 is observable, the other is impossible. You should do your research mate.
RickyPayneTV 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 Also, that whole "Dont believe what you are TOLD" Bullshit is conspirital bullshit and shows that you have no idea how science is conducted and no idea how the world works and ipso facto you reveal your lack of intelligence. Most people I know don't just accept what people say, they read and research the subject. science is open and free. You should have a look at some peer reviewed cosmology papers and then you will see that you have to do a lot more than just SEE a ghost.
RickyPayneTV 1 year ago
@RickyPayneTV ... so sad! I bet you're religious too?!
Just following like a sheep! im not even going to bother wasting anymore time trying to educate close minded fools like yourself.
TheWorldIsRound2012 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 I am an atheist. Wrong again. It is funny you mentioned that though seeing as belief in the supernatural is religious. Belief without evidence is religious. And believing in something that was created by man is religious. I recommend that you do a course in the history of western philosophy and maybe a psychology course. I also suggest that you send an email out to S.E.T.I and learn about the work they do looking for extraterrestrial life. You might just learn something.
RickyPayneTV 1 year ago
@RickyPayneTV I suppose u believe SETI is a genuine program do you? I guess you also believe your government is honest with you about everything? I came to the conclusion that you might be religious based on the fact that u clearly just believe what you are told like a good little sheep
TheWorldIsRound2012 1 year ago
@TheWorldIsRound2012 You sound like such a moron. I suppose everything that contradicts your beliefs are part of a conspiracy against you? That is textbook cognitive dissonance alleviation. SETI is sponsored by both government and private companies and the data is published publicly. Why don't you conspiracy theorists ever think? You are the only sheep. Following the conspiracy herd. And when anyone goes against your ignorant beliefs, you cry foul instead of adapting your presuppositions.
RickyPayneTV 1 year ago

However this guys isn't tricking people with money. He's doing it with white paper. It's bullshit. Anyone who believes this or would fall for this themselves is a complete moron
