I don't know about you guys but when I listen to melodic death metal I like shrieking vocals better. For me, melodic and low vocals are boring. Low vocals sounds better with traditional death metal. In the case of the vocalist from this band, he is perfect for doom metal. The music is still great!

I prefer the combination of brutal and clean vocals as in Through The Shadows from their new album. When it's only growling combined with the tunes it sounds the same with amon amarth and i don't like amon amarth very much.... (although Pursuit Of Vikings is extremely inspiring and neck-twisting)

@xxMrsRosexx I humbly disagree. In Insomniums older albums in particular, the melodies and harmonies were so intricate and well written that clean vocals were not necessary. In fact clean vocals only spoil the escapism that the instruments and growls build up.

You see, Insomnium's music portrays nature. It has somewhat ambient, earthly vibes and feels like no human has interfered with it.

Hmm, well bands like Insomnium are like Salmiakki. They're quite dark, are an acquired taste and are mass produced in Finland. No, not everyone will like it but hey, enjoy this if you do. If you don't, that's cool, I hope you find something that you like better out there.

That being said, I won't defend Insomnium in terms of labels and all that. They do it very well themselves.
