**spoiler** you might think Socke won by faking a macro game then going all in with voidray. But if you look at about 14:00, DiMaga is actually ahead. He build hydras throughout the roach attack, and now has equal army & the gold expo. Socke actually won at ~16:08. DiMaga split his forces into three parts, then was waiting for roaches before doing a full surround. But Socke chased the rightmost part, which, besides killing units, got his army in a corner so he could force field & kill hydras

Dimaga lost that game on his own. He tried to get back into the game with economy when he was already behind, and he let the toss tech to the 1 strong counter to hydras. He threw the game away.

Also, this is really the only reason why hydralisks are a fine blind choice against protoss players. They are kinda like the marine, expect the latter is cheap and is good against any race.

Husky and HD are good, in a different way. But often they make mistakes during commentaries (most of the times because they don't pay so much attention on the minimap) which I find annoying.

Recently I've discovered CricketStarcraft channel: yes, he doesn't put so much "hype" during his casting but I think it like a "3rd WAY"! And he uses some cool editing features too!!

@animuandmango No offense dude, but if you're gold you are pretty bad. And dimaga did not know the big push was coming, he thought socke continued probing, going for the 200 ball. Socke played this really well, fooling dimaga that he was getting just one voidray for harassing and map control. Dimaga made the right decision to what he scouted.

Most protoss don't follow up a harass void ray with an army of void rays, they will wait and throw them in later in the game for a deathball.

Socke had an unusual build and style. He feigned full on macro with light harass when he was actually going for mid-game hyper aggression.

Most zerg won't infest in hyrdas, because of coloss, he got enough queens out to deal with harass style void-ray play.

Dimaga wasn't bad by any means, Socke just played really well.

Too much hesitation and indecisiveness by the players. Socke could have won it if he went all in with his attack instead of droning up; Dimaga chose to build a huge hydra army... and then sit on it and drone up (wtf?). If Zerg waste larva on army units instead of drones, they need to do damage.

I play diamond random, that's why they made corrupters. They absolutely counter coloss and void rays.

Then hydra/roach can clean up the gateway army with absolute ease.

If you think it's unbalanced, then you are probably using the wrong reaction builds.

For scouting, you always can sac an overlord or using a changeling.(which almost always gets a decent scout off).

Banshees with cloak aren't cheap, after you hold it off you and T are BOTH behind.

You really think naming hard counters fixes the problem? You ever hear of P death ball? You need to pretty much suicide the corruptors to snipe collosus since 4 will crit damage any Z army except ultras. Bigger maps like in GSL help fix it but you'll notice a lot of times that Z depend on the other race screwing up to gain an advantage.

@JYC316 OMG what a fool. The problem you bronze-n00b is not what counters hydras (HTs, Colossus, Carriers, Void Rays, Archons), the problem is that Colossus evaporates any bio ground army in no time. And btw, you believe that spanishiwa always manages to scout? It's heavily depends on the map and on luck and race. On Z, you throw an overlord and hope he'll get the angle. On Terran you scan, and both T and P can wall off from first minute - Zerg can't hide their tech.

@rickklarenberg Indeed but it's like marines and critical mass: If Void Rays are fully charged and in adequate numbers, even if you bring a whole army of hydras, you will suffer huge losses before even shooting twice. As a Zerg player I've found that the best counter for Void Rays is Infestor (FG) with mutas. I even have a nice replay after patch 1.3 where around 48 Void Rays had a sure win, when Infestors wiped them up and then mutas finished the job.
